Frustration Is An Opportunity

Over the weekend, I was trying to get my finance right. You know, just try to understand where the money is going, how much is coming in, where does it all go out, how much do I save, how does my saving looks like, you know, that kind of stuff. It's not very interesting, but you have to do it every once in a while to know that you're in the right direction and you're not overspending and stuff like that. Now, if you're a USbased citizen or can Canada or something like that, there's great solutions like Mint or simple banking or like really beautifully designed companies that do this service for you and kind of like sync with your banking and shows you exactly what's going on. But I live in Israel and there's nothing here that can do that. So for the past few years me and my wife were kind of having this spreadsheet which was super confusing and then few months ago I discovered uh this online service that's called united budget which is super cool and I've been using it for a few months and even paying them but since they don't sync up with my bank account I have to manually put in every transaction and it's really really frustrating and the credit cards does don't work in the US like they work in Israel. Anyway, the whole weekend I was just like pulling my hair and I I hate it. I hate wasting my time like that. I can't get get it to do what I want. And I was just so frustrated. So, I've kind of posted on my Facebook uh a message to my friends saying like, "Hey guys, do you know anything like Mint or something like that that works in Israel because I'm so frustrated." And that post became really popular because a lot of people are actually frustrated by this. And a lot of them were saying no there's nothing I don't know anything I also want to have a solution and some of them were even said like Lana Leor please solve this problem for us like make a startup but there was one comment that says there is one solution that works but it's like from before they invented UX like with really bad design. So I tested it out and let me show you. So, this company that I found is called Finanda. And as you can see from the screenshot, they have like a super old UI. The sales page is really I wouldn't say that it converts very well. And the app, even though the app kind of does more or less what I needed to do, it really does not prompt you to go into the paid version that has extra features. So I think as a designer kind of checking out this product, I actually saw so much potential, so much, you know, this could be a great company. I would actually want to start this company maybe myself, but since they already have this company and I see so much stuff that can be improved marketing wise, app-wise, user experience wise, you know, conversion rates, I think they can make much more money. And then I said to myself, wait, why don't I help them do it? So, I kind of researched this company online. It was really hard to find. I mean, there was the name of the founders. There are like three people, but you can't find their email. I couldn't find them on social networks. Like, they don't even exist. So, after a I did a lot of research. I found the the email of the CEO and I wrote him an email saying, "Hey, my name is Ron. I'm a designer. I really love what you're doing. I see so much potential in it and I kind of want to brainstorm ideas with you as to how to improve your company and he did not answer me yet. This was this was just this morning. Uh but I've also wrote to customer support asking about some features and when they returned to me I sent him a message back. Thanks for answering me but I want to talk to the CEO of this company because I think I can help you. So I don't know. I'm just I I I want to share this with you because perhaps something will happen with this because I think you know with my skills I can really help this company and because I'm so frustrated about you know not being able to uh manage my finance correctly. I became super passionate about solving this problem and if I can help them, you know, maybe perhaps reach some kind of a deal, if I increase your sales that much, you know, I will get some part of the profits or something like that, I would really be interested in that. And I honestly believe that my skills as a designer and a marketer um can really help them grow this company. So, I'm not sure. I just reached out today. I'm hoping to get an email back, perhaps meet the CEO and maybe something will happen and maybe not. But I think it's always worthwhile when you're frustrated with some something that is broke um to try to find, you know, how can this be an opportunity for you? Maybe it's an opportunity to get a job as a designer. Perhaps if they won't answer, I'll develop some kind of a solution myself. I don't know. But I'm always trying to find the opportunities in things that suck. All right.
