Designing Cover For My New Marketing Book

I am so crashed and wasted last night I went out with Brian co-founder of web flow and no my wife and his girlfriend we went out for dinner and then went out for drinks and I'm really not used to getting back so late after drinking it was so fun though then Tommy didn't sleep so I didn't get to sleep all night like a lot at least so now I'm really crashed but I still have to be productive today because this day is also pretty short so here's what I want to try and do leor my new school partner has decided that he kind of collected some articles that I wrote about marketing for Freelancers and he wants to make an ebook about it and give it for free to our new school students and probably you guys can have it as well for free um so he he kind of arranged all my articles and laid them out as a book but he needs a cover so I need to sit down and design the cover for this book right now I actually have no clue what I want to do so I got to think about the concept and execute it and I really want to try to do this before my lunch meeting it's rock and roll [Music] all right so I've started with some research which I always do I went into book cover archive to check out some example of good book cover design and you know get my head like running with examples of good design and then the book is going to be called marketing for honest Freelancers which is also the name of the you know the online class that we have for the new school so I was thinking about honesty and about marketing and I kind of G got to the hand gasture of you know when people swear to God and there's something with the palm of the hand which is also first of all it's you know being associated with swearing to God so honesty but also I think it's just you know the naked palm of the hand is something like being naked Being Human Being vulnerable is what I think kind of you know some Su arize uh good marketing so I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to photograph the pal of my hand I'm going to just handwritten with like a pen or something uh marketing for honest Freelancers on my head uh take a picture of it and then put it on maybe a cool collar background and see how that turns out so let's give it a try go I try [Music] that I've been trying you understand [Music] [Music] whyus and I don't [Music] all right finished the design in about 1 hour it's a good thing that I did to verion and that I took a photo without the text as well this I could not make this idea work it just sucks it the composition position it's just not good but this one without it I kind of with the typography I feel that it's much more powerful so I'm pretty happy with that and I think I'm going to go with this Direction that's a great example why you should always try several things because your first idea might not work out as you imagined in your head but overall I'm pretty satisfied with what I've accomplished in a pretty short time um so I've got some time left before lunch uh the lunch meeting that I have so I think I'm going to brainstorm with leor uh what we've started to discuss yesterday in our meeting and that is that we kind of want to expand the the audience of Prosper right now we're Prosper is designed for designers so designers can choose which type of project they want to do um and other type of people like developers video artists and other type of people uh don't have a template for them so we think about expanding it so that other people can enjoy proso as well I think we're going to brainstorm that and see if that's [Music] possible good brainstorm with leor heading out right now to a lunch meeting with a friend I'm going to ask him for feedback on remember I told you a couple of weeks ago that I had an idea to kind of create some kind of a te TV show reality show about how I use design to help other organization or kind of to make the world a better place with design so I want to brainstorm this with only my friend who has tons of experience in making TV shows and working with big International networks so kind of want to hear his feedback about that and maybe get some new ideas [Music] back home now good lunch with Omri he definitely knows a lot about TV and it was great to get a perspective you know I've been living in the world of YouTube and kind of talking to an audience of designers and developers so it's great to hear the opinion of somebody who's doing mainstream content and kind of try to think bigger not not sure if I'm going to go in that direction but it's definitely uh good to meet and talk and think in that direction anyway while I was going I upload a new version of the dashboard that's the dashboard of Prospero that we have right now and I all upload the new and improved version um not everything is perfect so I've kind of opened the Trello ticket here with all the issues that are not perfect and then we're going to do some iterations on it until it's super perfect then we let you guys try and play with it anyways as I told you yesterday somebody kind of crashed my bicycle yesterday and I try to argue with him for him to pay for me fixing my bike but he wouldn't kind of admit or take responsibility and that sucks uh so I've been really thinking about whether I should fix it or just get a new bike because there's some other things there which are not perfect and um even though it's it's a month that we've spent a lot of money and it's not a good month to you know buy a new bike and and spend lots of money uh I came to the conclusion that I should be doing that and it's important it's my main mode of transportation and it's kind of a nice point to talk about the fact that you know I've been saying a few times how I have kind of an emergency fund so in cases like this you know I wasn't planning to spend now it's probably like 12 or 15 $100 to buy a new electric bike which sucks but it's not major you know it's not a problem I don't have to take a loan for it cuz I have some emergency money so I can do that even though it sucks and just continue with my life so heading right now I'm going to pick cool new [Music] bike and I don't [Music] all right so I got sexy new bikes and Noah actually had a creative idea and they offered to do kind of a tradein to buy with a really cheap price my old bikes so they could fix them and give me a discount on the new bike but she gave me an idea she said tell them that you'll pay the full price for the new bike and they'll fix fix the old one for free and then we'll have two bikes and then we can do bike you know bike trips together and you know kind of do fun stuff together on the bike so I did offer them this deal and they've accepted it so they're going to fix the old bike and then we'll have two of them
