hello everybody i'm at view productions and welcome back to another video so dboom sent me a present it is their ditto retro pixel art portable speaker this is not a normal product at all it's pretty fascinating actually i'm not being paid to talk about this thing today i haven't actually opened it up and tried it but it looked so interesting so we're gonna test it out today we're gonna see what all the hype is about so let's open this up get the old knife out how does this actually open up oh there we go we got it open all right so as you can see this is the device wow clicking these buttons already these are real mechanical switches in the speaker that's pretty crazy this already seems like a combination of a bunch of different technologies i'm gonna pull these off and see what switches they actually are all right let's pull the device itself out of the carrying case and put it down so this thing's actually pretty small as you can see compared with my iphone i have an xs max which is a big iphone so this is obviously the display on here we have something on the side we have a micro sd a usb and an on and off button there's a hole at the back uh presumably because it is a speaker and it needs that uh but yeah let's just peel off all of the protection plastic off of this thing wow that screen is uh definitely curved like a real tv screen would be as you can see from that that's definitely a design choice so the device feels heavy in a good way definitely high quality these uh mechanical switches are definitely contributing to that this little metal switch also contributes and the curved screen definitely a very interesting design for the speaker i don't know how to turn it on i think it might need some power here inside this case here we actually did get a power cord which is good they gave us some stickers guys oh these are actually really cool little pixel art stickers i appreciate that whenever a manufacturer gives you something extra in the box so it charges with usb type c oh oh it's on wow okay so it's actually backlit not only are these uh keys mechanical they're backlit as well just like a mechanical keyboard so it actually seems like it comes predisposed with a bunch of different uh little things all right now i'm going to be downloading the devo map here which of course is required to change all the lighting effects because that's like half the point of this product is that you can change all these lighting effects and of course it's a bluetooth speaker so you need to download this free app so i'm now on this app is this it i think we just connected all right yeah we're connected so i think now i can yes change uh lighting effects just based on the phone here i'm using my phone on the side to just tap and change through effects these are definitely pretty cool i don't know what type of screen they're using here but it's not a normal lcd screen i have no idea what type of screen it is but it produces actually extremely like vibrant colors like more so than a like a regular lcd screen for a computer now i'm not just saying that like it's pretty crazy they have a lot of cool lighting effects here and they have real-time music visualizers too alright well one of the things is obviously playing music so i'm going to see if i can play some music here all right i think i have my phone now connected to the ditto audio yes it is actually working so i've got some popular tick tock song playing this is the visualizer look at that that's actually sick wow i don't want to get taken down for any uh copyright stuff but check that out that is so sick wow it even it's actually doing like the text of what's playing which is pretty cool and i can actually change audio with my iphone too that's really cool this is a nice bluetooth speaker that is i can't get over how cool the visualizers are i got to try another one it's like a mushroom guy like singing it that's so funny you could also do a frog singing it so they have a whole host of visualizers like a dancing guy too that's actually really cool too man they got some cool stuff for this thing i am very impressed by that and it actually does sound pretty good it's not the most powerful speaker in the world it gets decently loud you know you're not going to be throwing a party with this thing but just for a portable little speaker to hang out with your friends it's perfect so essentially what you can do with this app is download effects that either you made or other people have made like as little animations you can make them through the app and then you can put them in one of these 12 different slots and upload them to this device and then switch through them alright what i've done here is downloaded some patterns that i really like and as you can see they're playing right now on the device these are just super cool this is a fish tank i found these are all made by other people online you can all make stuff like this with the app so it's really cool there's like a little community you can uh like all of these different patterns that people make there's no face that's so sick and i believe if you only do one of them you can just have a single pattern i'm gonna try to design just a static image you can actually draw on it on real time so i'm gonna fill it in red then in the middle here i'm going to draw a play button here we'll do it like this there we go that's the youtube play button right there they have other features like a scoreboard feature here where you can just uh you know manually set a scoreboard if you're playing some kind of a game you just want to use a scoreboard again they have a noise meter oh is that me oh that's me look at this you can even do a custom text here that scrolls across the screen i think the screen is easily the best part the colors are very very vibrant i think that these keys are uh cherry mx blues i'm not exactly sure though they look a lot like cherry mx blues and feel like cherry mx blues oh now it's playing music this thing's a little retro bop machine like i can't complain at all and you can actually also play games i think on it there's like a little game option i'm not exactly sure how to do that either way this is a pretty cool little device and this is the most unique bluetooth speaker i think i've ever seen and it would make a great gift for someone who's into this sort of thing it's it's retro looking it's cool it's got mechanical switches totally unnecessary a little cool lever here on a very vibrant cool screen with tons of customization and plays music that sounds pretty well there's also games on it and stuff like that i think it's a really great gift idea someone that you know is interested in this sort of a thing either way you really got
