hello youtube i'm matthew productions and welcome back to another minecraft tutorial this tutorial works for 1.14 and plus it is a very simple and easy tutorial uh now i had a different tutorial originally planned for today now unfortunately that tutorial turned into a horrible wreck of a video i had about an hour of video footage that was recorded and it just all amounted to nothing in the end because the tutorial just didn't work out anyways enough about that today we're doing a very simple tutorial how to allocate more ram to your minecraft i do this for all of my basic uh you know how to install shaders how to install mods how to install optifine videos i basically do this for all my tutorials but i never really truly explain it basically the benefits of allocating more of your ram to minecraft um it allows the game to run smoother makes the game run better it can even make your world build faster sometimes it can make mobs load in faster basically makes the game run smoother gives the game more of your computer's ram to work with because the base minecraft game only allocates about a gigabyte of ram and if you have more than a gigabyte of ram you can allocate more ram now before we even start this tutorial we need to know how much ram our computer has you can of course skip the step if you already know how much ram you have on your computer but to actually find out how much ram your computer has go to your desktop on your windows computer hold down the windows key and hit the e key this file explorer type thing will pop up go to this sidebar area right here scroll it down until you see this pc right here right click this pc go to properties and then right in this window right here under system we can find installed memory or ram 16 gigabytes i have personally 16 gigabytes of ram in my computer that i built you may have more ram or less ram but what we're gonna do today is allocate half of that ram to our minecraft so take whatever number you have here and chop it in half if you have two gigabytes of ram you basically are just going to exit out of the tutorial right now because minecraft is already allocating half your ram if you have four gigabytes we're gonna allocate two gigabytes if you have eight gigabytes of ram we're gonna allocate four gigs and so on and so forth so i have 16 so i can exit out of these windows and open up the minecraft launcher now we want to go to launch options now most likely advanced settings won't be enabled you're going to want to click enable advanced settings it's going to ask you this stuff you're going to just want to click ok go to your minecraft whichever one you're playing on if you only have one you only have one to click i'll do 1.14 it should appear something like this you're gonna want to click jvm arguments i already allocated my eight gigabytes right here most likely for you guys it's going to look like this though so let's say i had eight gigabytes of ram on my system i'll chop that on half and give me four gigabytes of ram to allocate to minecraft and i'll type four gigabytes in here so basically this number right here is gonna be how much ram at minecraft is allocating so it starts out with one and i have 16 gigs of ram i'll allocate eight gigs and that's pretty much it that's all you have to do you then click save then you can run your minecraft then when you are finally in a minecraft world you can hit the f3 key on your keyboard and it will show you actually up here how much ram is allocated to minecraft so total we have eight gigabytes that is free and then actually allocated in the game it's using five gigs so i offer today it's choosing to use five but your numbers are obviously going to be different but this second number right here under the 64-bit or 32-bit depending on what you have is going to be how much ram you've allocated it should start with this number of course anyways if you guys have any questions on that tutorial please leave them in the comments below very simple one today i thought i'd make one for 2019 uh if you like this tutorial please check out my other tutorials i have lots of helpful ones but uh thank you guys for watching i'm mavi productions uh like and subscribe and i'll see you guys next time goodbye
