Full Transcript
in this video I'm going to show you how to import and configure the Cisco cloud services router 1000v Cisco csaw 1000v [Music] you can look at the Cisco services router 1000v datasheet for more information about what of this appliance supports this is however a good example of an innovative eyesore network function virtualization device rather than buying a physical router to provide routing capability we have a virtual router that could run on Amazon ec2 as an example or Microsoft Azure you could run it within ESXi or other hypervisor platforms the 1000 V supports many features and protocols including DM VPNs BGP OSPF EIGRP the zone based firewalls access control lists and so forth and so on it also supports MPLS VPNs brf's GRE quality of service and IP SLA you can use it for different use cases as outlined here on the datasheet it also supports as an example newer technologies which will often find in Sdn discussions such as VX lands so have a look at the data sheet for more information about what this appliance supports we're going to importer the appliance into genus 3 by going to the marketplace appliances and downloading the Cisco CSR 1000v appliance so click a download template to download to the template in this example and using gns3 on a Mac but the process is very similar on Windows my Mac did change the genus 3 appliance extension to a txt file but I'm going to set it back to gns3 appliance so there are two requirements for setting this up in genus 3 you need to download the appliance from genus 3 and in addition you need the operating system or image of the 1000 V in this example I've logged in to my viral account and I've selected 1000 V in the list of software that I can download so I'll click on the download link to download this CSR 1000 V image now be warned the viral website is very slow so it may take time for you to download the image I need to accept the license agreement so I'm going to do that and then after a while my image should download again the viral website is slow so it may take a while for this download but notice I'm now downloading the image it's a 1.2 gig in size so be careful this is a large image when compared to something such as iOS a V image which is only 122 Meg in size so 1.2 gig for CSR versus 120 Meg for iOS of V so you may prefer to use the iris of the image but perhaps you don't have a viral account and all you can download from the Cisco website is the 1000 V this does however give you a powerful image that you can use to study with and integrate into genus 3 so I've downloaded the CSR image to my downloads directory so I have both the genus 3 appliance as well as the image available so that means I can now import it into genus 3 in this example I'm using gns3 2.0 on a Mac once again but the process is very similar if you're using Windows or junus 31.5 so I'm going to go to file import appliance I'm going to select the CSR 1000v appliance and click open now we told a bit about to the appliance notice this is using Cisco IOS XE software rather than traditional iOS the category that thus appliance will be created in is Radha it's a Cisco 1000v from Cisco it's maintained by the genus 3 team and KVM is required in other words you need to use a VMware a rather than VirtualBox with this appliance so don't try and import this appliance into VirtualBox because virtualbox doesn't support a nested virtualization that's required for this appliance click Next now it's recommended that you run this appliance on the genus 3 VM that's what I'm going to do here in this example I'm running the genus 3 VM inside the VMware fusion which is recommended on a Mac because of a nested virtualization so again a VirtualBox doesn't support a nested virtualization I'm going to click Next we told that to the genus 3 server requirements are ok and we can continue with the installation so I'm going to click Next Junior 3 scans directories for the operating system and it's found it in the Downloads directory it's a good idea to download both the appliance and the operating system to your downloads directory genus 3 2.0 can scan additional directories and you can also point it to the file if you've stored it somewhere else but it's simpler to save the file in the Downloads directory so that genus 3 can find it easily so I'm going to click Next we asked would you like to install the CSR that's what we want to do here someday click yes we asked to specify qmu settings I'm going to stay with the defaults and click Next but notice we told to wait a while the CSR is uploaded to the genus 3 VM because it's a large file 1.2 gig it's gonna take longer than some of the other appliances so again we asked it to specify qmu settings I'm going to go with the defaults and click Next so the summary is that the architectures x86 64 bit for adapters will be added to the CSR this is the adapter type console type is telnet 3 Giga RAM is required for this appliance so it takes a lot of memory to run this when compared to iOS v k vm is also required the great thing about using appliances from the genus 3 website is the configuration and options have been done for you so rather than trying to work out how much RAM to allocate what network adapter to use what console type to use and so forth and so on it's already been done for you so I'm gonna click Next we told that there is no default password and no enable password a default configuration is present the appliance will be available in the broader category so I'm gonna click finish we told now that the csr is installed and it's now available under the router category I hope you enjoyed this video if you did please like it and please subscribe to my youtube channel I want to wish you all the very best you [Music]
