[Music] takes a lot of effort to keep up to dat to the industry level when it comes to digital um even if you're in marketing or in an agency level um you need to keep learning and you need to keep adding new skills to be up to dat and sometimes that can be quite difficult we could see a decade ago that um digital delivery was going to be extremely important I don't think any of us could honestly say that we could see the hold that it was going to take and the transformation that it was going to wreak um but we could see it as a very important step um we had long discussions in the University about how to how to do that uh so I took it on board to try and find a way way of embedding uh the digital course within our M Communications course as a as an exampler of um what can be done I said the digital marketing is very important and we felt we haven't offer enough in that area um and who best to team up if not the professional experts in the area of digital marketing so we thought um working with someone who is specifically concentrated on this area would much better experience and will provide us with much better um knowledge and access to experts one of the um I've recently actually seen the GMAC survey on what their MBA students think is one of the most important uh skills that they get in the business school and that there's not enough of is the digital marketing so yeah I think it's usually important that you have those skills and even if you're not a specialist in any particular area of digital marketing that you have a at least a general idea of what's happening in this space and what can what you can use to get through to your customers I think Institute syllabus for the digital marketing diploma um integrates all aspects of digital in the best way possible um most of the universities fall behind introducing digital to their marketing students and it's so crucial to have digital as part of their syllabus that if you're not catching up with that you're falling behind there's great theory behind it which is part of the academic teaching but then uh added with the professional experience of the lecturers then it becomes very valuable for the students it's quite Hands-On we try to bring in a lot of real life um case studies workshops or different parts of this digital to the classroom that makes it quite Val valuable this collaboration has not only allowed us to um further upscale our um lectures but also to provide a very relevant and uh especially nowadays in demand skills for our students
