Google Cloud Project Katalyst

[Applause] I joined the Catalyst program and they gave me the most Perfect Exposure into the industry I could think of getting to sit down with her to really understand how the industry Works how to get into the industry I'm really excited to um be on a security project and soon take a lead on it it was a very welcoming environment it felt like you could come as you are Catalyst was to build the ecosystem to provide more diversity of view and thought into the ecosystem we have our partners currently have far more demand for work than they have skilled individuals to complete that work and so we wanted to help them build that I love my my computer my phone I have my tech Gadget freak so I've always wanted to be in a part of tech I wanted I was I've always wanted to like work in Tech but I couldn't find the right opportunity that will take me because of the fact that I do not have enough experience the Catalyst program is primarily targeted underrepresented individuals with the right mindset and an interest in technology to put them through a 12-week training program which then gives them the opportunity to join one of our partners or another employer to work as a junior engineer on Google Cloud I came from a background in psychology and I had no faith in my technical abilities or skills but over time and being on the course really helped me gain that confidence in myself and my abilities we were taught technical skills we were taught soft skills and we were also taught mindset as well it didn't just give me the necessary training the skills the knowledge I need to get into Tech the program helped me to actually secure a job in Tech within three months of start in the Catalyst or maybe just over three months I'd had I had two job offers I accepted the one I I'm working at now and and it shows how quick that turnaround is the level of diversity within the cohort meant that we were able to find people that would fit our culture as well as fit the opportunities that we had I have Top Class Google Partners in the room willing to hear from me and willing to tell me why they think I should join them that was a very amazing opportunity and amazing and a really amazing feeling I knew that coming through this program we would be at the level they needed for for employment they certainly making commitment to their career and I think if if Partners like we have can support them on that change in their career then I I think it's a win-win for everyone I kind of overstate the impact it's changed my life completely be really proud that I will be contributing towards making a real impact with Google and their clients what we really need to try and do is make sure that everybody across the entire planet who's got an interest in technology and working in cloud and has the right mindset it is given that opportunity so we can have the absolute best people working in our teams
