Well, I hear all this noise about vibe coding. It seems to be in the news all the time, but I'm a very much a skeptic. What's your take on it? Six months ago, vibe coding was a joke. Today, it is scary real. We are starting to see some real results, and I think in the next 6 to 12 months, you're going to see that this becomes the de facto way that most software is developed. >> Okay, now that's a big statement, right? >> So, even in a company like Cisco, >> Yes. >> where you guys are developing software that's critical for businesses, hospitals, etc., and the internet, is it it's something that you're looking at seriously? >> It is something we're looking at seriously. We're running experiments. There's still going to be key aspects around the validation stages and how we carry it out all the way through with real equipment and validate, but the quality of the code, the cleanliness of the architecture, it is a real disruption that's happening right now, and it is exciting and scary. >> Do you have an example of where you've used it and where it's done something amazing? We do 5G wireless for for mobile networks. We took a network function that we'd written 15 years ago. We took that half a million lines of code, spent about a week, and went from a very proprietary to Go lang microservices leveraging GRPC and and other modern techniques. Cut the code from 500,000 to 106,000 lines of code, passed the smoke test very well, and so we're now going to go through many months of testing before we release that, but I'm surprised and I'm excited. >> How long would it have taken if someone had done that the old way? First of all, we might not have taken it on because it would have been a thorny problem, but that easily would have been a year plus project. >> So, from a year down to a week to get a base code that you can make changes to. >> and I'm going to get criticized for my own team, but they also have seen that the results are are you coming out. And so again, more work to come, but a lot of change. >> So, you went from being a cynic like me on vibe coding to >> Yes. okay, the world's changing. >> Yes, and let's not call it vibe coding cuz yes. And what's the name for it now? I I don't know. A harness-based engineering development something in that area. >> HBS.
