here's a step-by-step SEO tutorial for beginners okay for this examle I'm going to assume that I'm going to be creating this content for a pest control company specifically a company that specialized in was sprays so what we're going to do is we're going to go after this keyword here which is how to kill a wasp and the reason I picked this keyword in particular is because I went and looked at the search results and saw some really good things so number one was this number one result is a Dr of 31 okay so that's a really good sign that means that there's a weak result that's ranking number one so that means we can overtake this website as long as we have a comparable Dr now looking at some other ones here there's also some some cool things I like to see so if you copy the keyword like this one thing you can do right away is see how well these top results are optimized okay so just run a search on the page and what I want to see is how many of these results are specifically optimized for this keyword phrase and when we look at this only two are specifically optimized for this and the others while they are generally on topic they're not specifically optimized for this specific keyword phrase that's really really important so for me that's very exciting so we have a couple of really good indications here this is a good keyword to go after so number one we have a weak website ranking number two most of the results are not super keyword driven or optimize and then also we see that there's Kora and Reddit are both ranking as well so right now in the current state of of the search results yes Reddit and core are getting somewhat of a lift but I don't expect that to last uh and so seen this kind of play out many times uh throughout my 10-year career of doing this and they do tend to get a lift in a lot of updates but as Google comes back through there tends to be a a preference for Content that is more structured so I get excited when I see that and also another one here at number nine with a of 27 so lots of good signs here to me this is one I definitely wouldn't want to go after because there's just a lot of good opportunity here so don't get afraid by you know seeing some of these higher Dr sites keep in mind when we look at this the only ones that are truly High Dr that we need to be concerned about is wey how okay and they actually have two results that are ranking which once again I don't believe that that will last I think Google will probably come through and take one of those results out it's just the nature of how Google tends to work when it comes to the same domain ranking for the same keyword okay so that's the first step the next thing I want to do is we want to start to build a keyword cluster around this core idea okay so we have how to kill a wasp so this is our core idea we're going to build an entire SEO content asset around this one idea but what you want to do is you also want to prepare to create content to support this page to support this main idea so go through all of these keyword opportunities and what you want to do is just add them to to a list a keyword list and most importantly just when you look at the the keywords that I added specifically to this list you're going to see there's one characteristic that you're going to want to go for which is every single idea has a unique intent behind it okay so I'm not adding keywords here that are just slight variations of our main idea which is right here you'll notice that these are very different ideas so for example how to get rid of Wass with vinegar okay that's a very specific type of keyword phrase and so we'd probably want to create another asset that's specifically about this one idea okay so when the intent changes that's when we usually want to create a new asset for the keyword okay and this is not to say that you can't talk about you know this method in the main asset which we likely will but it's more about the fact of what are we going to build an entire page around right and so you can certainly cover a lot of these ideas in the main asset but more than likely if you really want it to perform to to the best of its ability you're going to want to create a separate asset as long as the intent is different next thing you want to do is you want to look at the search result and when I'm doing this I'm just looking at a few things first I want to scan the search results and see is there any other things that we can pull from this so number one it looks like there's some other people also ask little section here so we could potentially have more content ideas here okay so you can sometimes answer these directly in the content itself or once again if the intent is different then we likely want to create a new asset for the idea okay another thing want to notice here is that there is a featured snippet okay so knowing that there is a featured snippet we're going to want to try to capture this featured snipp we're going want to try to steal this featured snippet from the one that's ranking okay keep going through and just see if there's anything else that really Pops at us it looks like there's some schem of markup some structured data popping up here it looks like there is a video pack so that means that there is video intent which means people tend to go to YouTube for this keyword as well so if I was a pest control company what I would be doing is I would not only be creating an asset to rank in Google but I'd also be creating an asset to rank in YouTube as well okay you want to try to occupy as much Ser real estate as possible all right keep going down here another thing is too if you really want to start to get Gorilla about this whole process um you can actually start to answer questions on Kora and even answer questions on Reddit another if you really want to get tricky with this you can actually even create threads on each of these platforms and then of course because Google Google seems to be showing preferential treatment towards these websites you could actually end up occupying a lot of surp real State just for this keyword you could probably occupy at least three or four spots just for one keyword so we're going to look at the top 10 and we're going to quickly scan throughs and see is there anything that is incredibly exceptional about what we're seeing here uh Wiki how honestly they have pretty good content most of the time they have unique visuals they have uh you know pretty solid content for the most part so I I'd say out of these top ranking results weaky how is probably going to be the best so yeah this all looks good nice and clean uh very good user experience another one here from Reddit once again looks like there's been some really good engagement on this one so that's going to that's probably why this one is performing so well there's just a lot of user generated content on this page so it's just making it very very long very very in-depth so I think the best content angle here is going to be some sort of like experiment based content so how to kill a was and then you can actually try the techniques or how to kill a was pros and cons of the different techniques so that's kind of the missing angle that I'm seeing here and this is this is really what you have to think about when you're looking at the search results like what is a what is an angle that's missing what's something I can bring to this keyword that hasn't been done before all right and so right away I was quickly came up with two ideas like so basically you could take all of the different techniques for killing a was and test them and see which ones are best and then document that process okay or you could you could talk about each individual uh tactic and why one is better than the other and the pros and cons of each of those techniques that's kind of phase one is you want you want to look at the keyword you want to look at the competitors you want to find a good angle then from there now it's time for us to actually go and create a Content plan or a Content brief or a Content outline you can call it any of those things very simple thing to do here is you just go into Surfer and you're going to run it through the Ser analyzer so then when you run it through the Sur analyzer you're going to see all the competitors here but all you really have to do is go to the top result and go to the audit section so first thing you want to look at is the word count and based on what we're seeing here in the top five if we remove this outlier we're probably looking at you know maybe 1 12200 or a th000 a th000 words here okay so don't need to be super long we just need to ultimately find the right angle and make it nice and lean other thing here is on the true density okay we want to look at the NLP related keywords and you're going to use these keywords to actually build your outline so what you'll see see over here is in this little NLP section I actually exported all the keywords from Surfer so now what I can do is I can take these keywords and I could run it through chat GPT and say create me an outline based on these keywords so what you'll see is I just went in here and I said create an SEO content outline based on these NLP keywords for the for the keyword how to kill a was okay you just put them all in here and then chat GPT will go ahead and create an outline for you and we'll scroll down and you can see here it created a nice SEO friendly content outline for us and now we've got a nice foundation for actually creating a well optimized asset now all you have to do is just take your angle and you know obviously go and collect do the content uh experiment that you need to do and then put that into start to write the content and and ultimately expand on these points you can certainly use chat gbd to expand on these points but I would recommend probably just using uh some sort of subject matter expert to write this content uh because there is some statistics showing that original content that it has a high likelihood of not being AI tends to outperform AI driven content uh so I would probably just lean towards that but you can still use chat gbt to really build this outline for you okay next thing you want to think about is like how can we make this content more linkable and that's when the little experiment part comes into play okay we're using an experiment to make this content more linkable because now someone actually can reference this content that we've created they can actually link to it as a resource okay and that's all that linkability is we're just creating things in the content that make it easier for someone to actually want to link to us okay that's it simple as that so that's really all there is to it so you're just going to create you're going to create your use chat GPT to basically give you all the information you need create the outline then you just need to actually write the content so what I'd recommend doing is actually going into Surfer once you write the content then just go into the content editor and you'll open this up and and you'll start to create the content in the content editor and that way we can make sure it's being optimized appropriately okay and then the next thing you would do is once it's all done in here then you just go ahead and put it on the site and that's kind of just phase one you you've basically optimized the the content the appropriate way we want to make sure that we get the core keyword in all the most important spots so like you'll see if we go and look at the top results again what you'll see is that the top results are optimized really well so how to kill a wasp in your house so you'll see how to kill a wasp all right this is the main keyword we'll see where they have it located and they have it perfectly in the H1 they have it in the first paragraph and they have it in the H2 okay so they're doing a great job as far as keyword placement all right and we're going to go up here and this is the detailed Chrome extension and we look at it once again they have it in the title and they have it actually in the meta description as well and it's also in the URL structure so this page is optimized nearly perfectly okay so they've got in all those core locations which are really important and then on top of it when we stack on optimizing with NLP we can create a page that's as optimized as this but actually even more optimized using NLP and the reason for using the NLP keywords is just to make your content more relevant that's all we're trying to do we want to create the most relevant piece of content for Google that's it then once you've created your your asset then all we need to do is actually just go back through and then start to create new assets to support the main assets so we actually want to start to create some of these other assets so for example how many was stings to kill a human let's create an asset about that uh how to kill a wasp without spray right now that you know all the different techniques you're going to know the techniques that do not require spray okay and then there's a bunch of other ones here that are very specific like how to kill a wasp trapped under glass okay it's starting to get very very specific here but these these very specific queries are going to be really easy to rank for you're not going to need a massive content asset to rank for them and also it's going to help you build more topic Authority so very very powerful way to build content so what I'd recommend doing is actually creating a lot of this content and at the same time you're also going to begin that process of acquiring backlinks okay so one thing you want to do is always look at the opportunities here for the main keyword so how to kill a wasp what you want to do is just go down here and look at the top competitors and just see do they have any links that are worth trying to to emulate or get all right so we're looking at the top result here and we'll check out their link profile and we'll just look at do follow in this case and we're just going to see like do they have any links that are worth trying to replicate and honestly the answer is really no okay we're looking at really looking at domain traffic to see like are any of these links actually any good okay and they're really not it's also an indication though that when you see that there isn't a lot of back links there's a few things we can a few conclusions we can draw from that number one it could mean that this is just not a very linkable topic that's one option the the other is just that it's not very competitive so you don't need that many links to rank okay so that's also a good thing so that's that's one part is always start here the next thing you want to do is we actually want to start to look a little bit broader so instead of looking at something this specific we could literally just type in WASP okay and the reason I want to do that is because we're going to go look at domains by traffic share all right and what we want to do is start to see what are some of these domains that are popping up that maybe you know are getting links that we could ultimately emulate okay so one thing you'll notice is that Wikipedia is popping up here so what you can actually do is take Wikipedia run it through HRS and you'll see here I actually have Wikipedia up right here and if you do if you do these this little filter here for the contains you can put different words that are relevant to what you're actually going after so I did bug pesp and wasp all right and the reason I'm doing this is because I want to see what pages have attracted backlinks on Wikipedia okay people love to link to wikip Wikipedia so for me I want to see is there anything here where we can start to extract some of these these link opportunities out of here okay so when we look at this you'll see that one specific here which is pest control all right now we can start to see all of the sites that are linking to Wikipedia's Pest Control page and these become our prospects we can send an Outreach email to them and say hey I saw you were linking to this Pest Control uh this Pest Control page on Wikipedia just want to let you know I actually created this case stud where we tested all these different you know uh ways to kill a wasp right and you can reach out and you can promote that content to them one way to actually accelerate this too isn't just to try to get them just to link to you for out of the goodness of their heart you can actually say paid collaboration all right so whenever you're doing your Outreach say paid collaboration and sometimes that will help get an open uh a much easier okay so that's what I like to do is I like to really kind of reverse engineer the people that are linking to linking to Wikipedia right and then we can these actually become our most relevant prospects okay next thing you want to do is you can actually go into chat gbt and I'll scroll down here so you can see and you can actually start to pull topics okay so I just asked what are topics related to was all right and now we can see biology species was Behavior was habitats these are all fine but I actually want to see more specifically what are the types of blogs that are likely to write about was okay so pest control blogs DIY gardening outdoor camping Wildlife you get the point all these different types of Industries here and all of these right here become our categories for link prospecting okay so we can find guest post opportunities in here and here and here we can find Niche edit opportunities there's a lot that we can do to be able to find link opportunities so finding link opportunities is not difficult what is difficult is actually getting those links and the way to get the links is to create pages that are worth linking to it's that simple so we need to create more linkable assets then we just promote those linkable assets to these relevant blogs and the more we do that the more links we acquire consistently the better you're going to perform in Google so that's literally all there is to it so just to kind of recap here we want to create our main asset and we want to make it the most relevant asset for that that really exists right we're trying to make it the most relevant asset and number two trying to find an angle that no one else has used if you just do those two things you're going to be doing really well and then number three you're going to make sure that it's optimized well for NLP okay extremely optimized well for NLP you do that now you basically have the most relevant asset for that keyword once you've nailed that then you're going to go back through and start to create your secondary assets okay start to create the secondary assets I recommend at least five to 10 supporting assets around your main topic okay if you can do that you're going to be ahead of 90% of people all right if you do that then while you're doing that you should begin that process of building your link Prospect database okay build the link prospects of Highly relevant opportunities using the techniques I showed you by reverse engineering Wikipedia and ultimately looking at the the niches that are most relevant to what you do okay looking for guest posts looking for Niche edits looking for anything that's relevant to what you do and then just begin sending Outreach emails don't overthink this you should just set a Target for outreach emails just set it to three a day I'm going to send three Outreach emails a day and then once you've been able to hit three a day for a couple of weeks now move that up to four and just continually scale up that number to eventually you're sending you know 10 20 maybe even 30 Outreach emails a day and this is a numbers game so the more Outreach emails you send the more links you'll likely acquire it's as simple as that but the key here is if you're not getting good response rates on your link Outreach it's because that your linkable assets probably are not as good as you think they are okay so always go back to the content always go back to what you're promoting and if it's good enough people will want to collaborate with you people will want to link to you people will want to work with you ultimately but if it's not that's where uh you need to go back to the drawing board the other thing too to consider is also your your value proposition once again we can just go into chat gbt and just have chat gbt create an asset for us and then once you sent this enough times and you've customized it once you have enough data and you're you're you can see the actual outcome of this Outreach you can actually go back to chat GPT and say hey we've sent this Outreach email to 100 prospects we've gotten a response rate of 15% and we've landed Three Links okay you can say okay now improve this so that we can increase our response rate or improve this so we can increase our our link uh link land rate okay so that's all we're trying to do that's just keep going back to the dyw keep using chat gbt to refine and get better at this and most important just remember this is a numbers game thank you so much for watching and if you want to learn my complete step-by-step SEO
