hey Nathan got your from got Jessie Owen in this video I'm going to show you the seven reasons why you're struggling to get backlinks let's jump right in so if you aren't subscribed make sure you subscribe right now so you can get more SEO training videos just like this one so let's start with the reason number one why you're not getting as many backlinks as you want and that's that you don't have linkable assets so one of the biggest mistakes that I see when people are trying to acquire links to website is that they simply do not have something that's worth linking to and that is when linkable assets come into play so the very first thing you have to do before you even think about trying to acquire backlinks is you have to create at least one linkable asset on your blog and typically pages that are most linkable are gonna be informational types of assets so these are gonna be how-to articles these are gonna be case studies these are gonna be data-driven posts anything like that that's going to be something that people would actually want to link to what that they would want to reference as a resource is something that is going to be considered a linkable asset and so you need to go through the process of first identifying keywords and then from there you have to create a link well asset around that keyword and in most cases you simply can't settle for just generic how to blog posts or simple list posts you have to really think outside of the box and create something that's incredibly valuable and something that's radically different than whatever keyword they're going after and the best way to do that is just go right into google search the keyword that you want to rank for and then look at what's already ranking and then you have to think about how you can come at a unique angle and have a completely different unique selling proposition for that content and if you do that spend just just spend all your time thinking about that and how you can make it different and most importantly how you can make it better than what's currently ranking and then you will have the ability to create something that's worth linking to and I just cannot stress this point enough because this is the first tip and that's that's why because it's so incredibly important so you have to master the art of creating linkable assets now the second biggest mistake that I see when people are trying to acquire new links to their site is that they believe that their linkable assets are worth linking to when they're not and so this is a huge huge mistake and the challenge is that when you create a piece of content you invest a bunch of time into a content or you invest in a writer to create that content for you you think because you spent time on it and because you invested money with it that it's actually good but in reality the only way to validate that that content is good is through user metrics and so if you publish a content asset and then you promote it and it doesn't get social shares it doesn't get comments and it doesn't acquire links naturally then that's an indication that people don't believe it's a good piece of content so you need to make sure that there's that validation because otherwise you're gonna be trying to promote a content asset that people don't actually think is good so people will go through that process that first step of creating a link will asses but the problem is that the asset isn't actually worth linking to and that's usually because the quality of the asset isn't good enough so the first thing you think about is number one if you're not getting links it's probably because you don't have linkable assets but if you've already done that then you need to examine the quality of the asset they're actually trying to promote and look at those user signals and if they're not there then you need to reassess if that linkable asset is actually good and more importantly if you're promoting this asset to many many people and no one's responding to a known saying wow this is really a cool valuable piece of content then you may need to go back to the drawing board and say okay maybe this content isn't the best that it can be and most importantly if your if your content isn't clearly better than what's already ranking on the first page then it's probably not going to be worthy of links so you have to really look at your content and be extremely critical of the content that you create and most importantly have other people look at the content and give you that feedback because you're never really going to know if your content is good just by creating it because creation is just the first step and you don't actually know if your content is good until you get that validation the third biggest reason why people have a really tough time acquiring links is that their brand doesn't have enough Authority and I know this might sound like a weird thing but when you think about it if someone knows your name or knows your brand in the industry you're far more likely to have a higher success rate with their outreach so for example if I was trying to build links 4hrs everyone in the SEO industry knows what a truss is at least a lot of people know what hf says and what it does is an SEO tool so it would be super easy for me to acquire links if I was working for a truss because everyone knows that brand everyone has that brand recognition and most people have a positive experience with that brand therefore it's gonna be much easier to get links people's responses towards outreach will be far more favorable but if you on the opposite side of the spectrum if you have no authority no one knows who you are then it's gonna be extremely hard to acquire those links and so this is a big reason why you see big authorities in the SEO space or big authorities really in any industry who just acquired tons and tons of links it's not because they're doing anything spectacular per se but it's just because they have that brand recognition and once you get that brand recognition it's so much easier to acquire links the fourth reason why you might be struggling to acquire links is you're probably sending the same generic outreach emails that everyone else is using and so many of these templates that have been propagated across the internet and across SEO blogs and link building blogs and really every digital marketing blog there is are just totally tapped out and the truth is you need to use outreach templates because otherwise you're not going to be able to scale your outreach but you need to try to personalize them the most that you can and most importantly one of the biggest things that I've seen with outreach emails is people send these extremely generic emails and oftentimes their qualification for the prospects is way off so for example I get tons of outreach emails in my inbox with people wanting links on GOC SEO or wanting to do partnerships with me or whatever and sometimes it will be totally off topic for example I'll get outreach emails about paddleboarding clearly the people who are doing that outreach did not go through the process of qualifying their Linc prospects because there's absolutely no reason that Gaucho SEO comm should be getting outreach emails for paddle boarding or something radically off topic so it's super super important that first of all kind of a different topic altogether is you need to qualify your Linc prospects but don't use generic outreach emails really value people's time and value their website because they've put a lot of hard work into their website they have invested time and money into it and so if you just send them a jerk generic outreach email it's borderline disrespectful so you should try to personalize it and if you can only send five emails per day that are personalized compared to twenty that are totally generic and are just gonna burn bridges with all of these important people in your industry then go with the five it's very very simple so just do not use these generic outreach emails and if you're getting a low response rate it's probably because you were using these templates that are totally tapped out the fifth reason why you might not be getting as many links as you would like through your outreach is that you probably have poor value propositions and so a value proposition is going to be what you're going to give that prospect in exchange for a link and so there are many different value propositions of course you could go out there and say hey you got some broken links and I'll help you fix those or hey you have some issues with your website I can help you fix those you're adding value to them so that in exchange you can get a link now there are certain value propositions that are weighted differently right so you have if you show someone that they have a broken link well that's helpful but that's also super overuse super overplayed so it's not gonna work as well as it once did now the one value proposition that really just supersedes everything and is so much better than every other one is going to be money you've probably heard the phrase that money talks well it definitely does because that's all that really businesses is usually just an exchange of money too and to another and so if you are able to provide a monetary incentive to acquire a link it does work extremely well but you do know that buying links is against Google's guidelines you have to be super careful but just keep in mind that out of all the value propositions and all the little tricks that you can use money is far superior to everything else and so the only exception is when you're an authority in your space the amount of value that you can add to someone else's blog can be pretty substantial so your value proposition as an individual can be can be better than money in some cases and so that is also so you need to think about but if you're totally unknown you're probably going to have to use money as your primary value proposition but over time as your brand builds Authority you're gonna start being able to leverage your brand and you can add so much value to their blog that they're gonna say ok you can do this for free or we'll link to you for free just because you have something to give them you have some sort of value that's unique so the sixth reason why you might not be getting as many links as you want is because you're probably not sending enough outreach emails and I know this might sound kind of weird but believe it or not when I go through an audit people's link building campaigns usually they're just not sending enough emails and so you should set a target every single day of the amount of outreach emails that you're gonna send because it is to a certain extent a numbers game and so for me personally I usually don't exceed five to ten emails per campaign per day and that's just kind of my personal preference because I feel like anything above that starts to kind of your email address will start to look a little sketchy but that's just my personal preference you have to figure out what's best for you but if you have a brand new email address make sure you work your way up to that amount don't just immediately start sending ten twenty thirty outreach emails per day because you will get flagged as a spammer and then all your outreach emails are just going to go right to the spam box so we do not want that we want them to get delivered to the prospects inbox so that you have your best shot at getting a response and ultimately getting a link in the future so make sure you start sending more outreach emails and just set a daily target so the seventh and final reason why you may not be getting as many backlinks as you want is that you're probably not tracking your results and so you should be tracking every single thing within your outreach campaign you should be tracking who you're reaching out to the subject line that you're using your email even the email itself what you're saying within that email because you're gonna be able to learn from the people that you're not getting responses from and you're also gonna be able to learn from the ones you are getting responses so you want to be able to look at both because then you're gonna start to be able to iterate on the process and figure out what works best in your particular industry and most importantly what just works best in general what do people respond to the most and the more you can learn about what people respond to the better you're going to be at outreach the better you're going to be at creating content just the better you're gonna be at business in general so I just cannot stress it enough how important it is to be tracking every single minut detail of your outreach campaign because it is going to be such a great learning tool and you're just gonna be able to get better and better and better over time and that response rate will get better and you're gonna start to be able to acquire links much easier than ever before so just make sure you're tracking everything so those are the
