what that means um tropical storms again yeah sodium chain takes the coffee yes i have my i already have my christmas cup look at that oh it's also invisible because the cup is green i'm sorry for that um cloud strife says oh my god there's a lot of new messages sorry for that uh clouds i've said i thought this would be a retouching stream but it's a stream about comparing recharging algorithms yeah i changed it up a little bit um i will tell you about why in a second one moment uh marian hi from the netherlands um cloud strife from california hi how are you doing uh uh don't do [Music] i love this melody yeah it's from artless by the way um i'm not sure what it's called um roof rooftops i think it's called rooftops i'm not sure um hi cho how are you doing from southern california um kent from denmark hi andreas from greece hi how are you doing super hot right now i hear it because my my father is also down there uh sean paul from belgium high benico from hamburg hi how are you doing hector from denmark hi roman from germany hello uh studio and chase again okay russell from london uk hi so many people today really cool um brian from cambridge uh sorry cambridgeshire uk nigel from london hi how are you doing eric from baden by veen hi how are you doing um south and carolina joe hi major storm okay uh raina from munich hi how are you doing and um george from northern wales okay that's pretty cool wow so lots of people here today that is really awesome hi sabine nice to see you from portugal i hope you have a nice day sunny yeah probably hot you can see i'm kind of sweating too it's really hot here uh so okay uh like i said um i i kind of changed the topic a little bit um because i compared different um tools on how to edit portraits and what to do and it it it stood out to me that they are severely different if you look on the not actually on the finer parts but when you compare them really side by side it's really interesting what they do and i think also an interesting point about that is that um because i often see people say yeah but i can also do that with affinity photo but it's not actually the case because different tools are doing things differently um how can you compare that like for example different music instruments just because you have one guitar that you like doesn't mean that other guitars could be nice too because they sound different and they feel different and um so a lot of people who play guitar a lot have multiple guitars not just one maybe that's a good comparison i don't know or maybe cameras also you know like a camera is taking a picture and you could buy a canon or a sony or a leica but they are different cameras and give you kind of different results they handle different so some people say yeah this is my favorite branded this is my favorite brand you know what i mean it's not it's not quite the same thing so i want to look at that a little bit today um also one of the reasons is i i invested so much time in researching you the community uh by uh looking for example at the survey and then also creating these two pdfs by the way i have to show you that one second um i don't want to annoy you with that but i thought i pointed out again that i created these two lists and i want to explain a little bit what they are too because maybe people don't understand what that is uh one second on let me open this up here real quick uh let me see one second okay those are the posts oh yeah okay good that's good um good so let me show you this real quick i have to switch over here good so now you can see my screen and i wanna like really quickly talk about this here so i created these two lists this took a lot of time to to just um list all of the things that i bought uh like all the gear that i have all these kind of creative tools and by the way i will also update these lists um to add more things add more comments to them stuff like that for example the gear list is um it's commented on every gear what i like about it what i don't like about it stuff like that uh for the creative tools also you can suggest stuff i will check it out so there's a lot of stuff there software apps websites videos books a lot of different things that can help you understand art better get inspiration know where i get my resources from what kind of tools i use stuff like that and this is a reward for patreon now let me explain really quickly what pattern is um uh yeah so this is by the way this is a welcome report this is part of also of my research um where one of the points was is there something that people get when they sign up right away because right now i have a reward you get once a month and that's nice because you get a discount on the creative pack in the size of your tier that you're in like there's different tiers like three dollars five dollars ten dollars and you get that back every month in in in form of a discount code right just to explain it real quick what that is and this is basically uh supporting my channel another reward you get right away i think a lot of people don't know about that is i upload when i do tutorials i upload my affinity photo files also to um to patreon if they are useful to you right if there is something in there like i do some adjustments or stuff like that uh so you have access to 143 files right now that you can download right away you just click there i have to also update them a little bit because right now they tell you the title you can see here they tell you the title of the tutorial but i don't have a link to the tutorial here because i post always a post for the tutorial and then for the file but recently i thought maybe it would be good if i have a link to the video too if you come later on right but you can see there's all these affinity photo files that you can download right away and use as it is also a benefit um that you get right away right okay just to just to explain that uh what that is um and this um these pdf things this is a this is a new reward because a lot of people asked me about that and i thought that would be kind of more uh feedback to that because a lot of people know want to know what kind of software i'm using what kind of gear i'm using um but maybe that's kind of i don't know get got lost a little bit in i don't know in the communication anyways this is why i want to point that out today again oh yeah um wait a second let me uh let me link you to that um entry here maybe that's not a good way to do that um let me put that in the chat real quick and then we can go over to the software tools uh patreon there you go boom okay so you can check that out if you want this is basically you see a post that says unlock but you can still click on the block and see everything that is posted publicly which is basically all the videos right anyways uh what do we talk about one second let me see the chat here real quick and then we go on uh what did i read so far i'm not sure munich anonymous from munich hi how are you doing sean paul hi thanks for joining george from northern wales thanks for joining us i already read that sabine i can remember that okay cool um can you make a youtube about your chop to be honest i'm now a full-time youtuber so this is my job basically um i did design before that i also did education on like just for a year or two i gave some lectures at the university about um basically about marketing and this actually is also what started my channel let me switch over here real quick maybe that's interesting to talk about um so i did i i worked with my with my customers usually small uh stores and made a design for them which is web design print design online campaigns stuff like that um kind of a full package also explaining them a little bit how the things work because these smaller stores often don't know about uh how instagram works how facebook works stuff like that um yeah and and and doing these kinds of designs so that was pretty nice and also suggesting to them different kind of things they can do you know on on social media or like interesting campaigns or a loyalty program or some kind of rewards for the customers there's a lot of different things you can do and i'm more of a generalist so i know about a lot of different things um which at the same time means i'm not super specialized in in in some things which you can also see on my channel um i can do a lot of different things but there's other people like for example benny productions who is like amazingly good at one thing you know and that's a difference right um he's an expert in in one very specific thing where he's super super good at and i'm like i know about a lot of different things right because i'm interes yeah but it's just a different approach right um anyways um what was the question yeah that's basically and now i changed over to youtube because i like to do this full-time i like to teach people it's a really good experience and having that online community and it gives me a lot of more freedom to do that um at the same time it's still in the design area it's still in the creation area basically right so i i feel like it's kind of the same thing and this by the way this is why i say at the start of every of my videos hello my friends blah blah my name is olivio i'm a professional designer i don't say i'm a photographer or stuff like that because i'm not a photographer i'm a designer that's a different approach but of course when you do design you edit photos a lot in a different way than a photographer would for example you have these experts on portrait photography which do like this model portrait photography which one of my followers were talking about to me i think two streams ago um and showing the group that he's in and they do amazing things but this is like advertisement adjustment of um of portraits and it's a different approach right i i think the techniques are really amazing but i wouldn't want necessarily every of my pictures to look like that because it's like hyper perfection because it's for modeling it's for advertisement it has to be like um perfect to a degree that is i don't know you know like like uh uh synthetic you know what i mean anyways okay good let's get started um with the video today okay um [Music] let me switch over again so you can see my screen and i will also keep open the chat so i can respond to you i use capture one and infinity i was surprised that not so many people use um capture one in my community uh we can look at that real quick before we get started here so this is another one you see by the way you should really join my facebook group because as you can see there is really really cool stuff in here and by the way also if you are in the group you should post and you should ask questions don't be shy don't think ah this is not good enough just post it and get some review and get some like suggestions stuff like that be nice to each other of course so that this is a really really nice and happy and positive group uh also because this is uh what i want the group to be so i'm really strict about not being harsh to people right anyways uh what was he talking about oh yeah paul paul there should be i should be able to click on that let me click on my name because then we can see all the posts that i did there we go is this the one oh yeah you see like um most people 178 um that have voted said no and then um 46 said yes they use capture one uh which is much less and we can also use uh sorry we can also look on youtube real quick here um let me see where is that on the channel because there we have a percentage which is also nice uh there we go so 21 say yes which is a pretty low number and then 70 say um no they don't use it i kind of understand why because i think like capture one is first of all it's kind of expensive i think the the website is not very approachable like it was a real hustle uh today to get the the demo to download and get into the demo they're very strict about the you can't just use it uh that you have to have like a retrosp3 serial number for the demo why i don't understand anyways uh it's a little bit complicated to get in there but it's possible you you can absolutely do it no problem um is capture one on infinity says hennyko studioum chases i use capture one and affinity okay so there's a lot of people who do that and i think also a lot is like more like a first step program i looked at also different tutorials and most people they do some stuff in capture one like they are just a raw file and then they go over to photoshop or affinity photo and do the rest there because it's more like an adjustment program like lightroom for example not an editing program like affinity photo or photoshop where you have all these layers and can do a lot of adjustments and overlays and stuff like that uh methyn hi from izmir thanks for joining okay anyways now let's uh switch over oh by the way this is um like let's get started here so we have today lightroom that we look at and then we have um photo lab from dxo which is the same guys who do nik collection you can see down here on that button it's directly integrated in the collection into photo lab you don't get it with photo lab you have to as or you have to buy it separately but still it's it's the same company so they have an extra button for that uh then we have capture one here and then we have also affinity photo where there's nothing open uh let's open up that one file that we already have here so we can see that okay so um and you can already see from the interface how different um it is and also what um basically the purposes of the software because um in in these other tools as you can see here uh let's make this a little bit more apparent so here we go into customize and here we go um we can close this actually i think it's ctrl b yes there we go as you can see that the when you adjust things the photo is basically covering most of the screen and then you have a little bit of tools i'm not sure how you can actually make that smaller okay that's nice so you can actually have most of the screen covered here i'm not sure if you can hide this so to be honest i downloaded the trial of capture one today so i don't know much about that software i i just know like the things that i'm seeing on the screen uh so i don't um so you can see from that uh that this is made from for adjustments because the picture is so big and then on the side you have these tools while uh here of course you need more stuff like you have all these tools on the left side and adjustments on the right side and layers and tabs and blood there's a lot of stuff going on um ismir ismir is in turkey i think right is it i think so right um i mostly use luminar yes luminoi is also nice i didn't include it today because it would be a little bit too much um now here is a thing i want to show it's really interesting so i have this picture i downloaded it from the internet and then i have here some pictures that i shot uh like this one and you can see this is rather dark so you're probably not seeing much on the screen right now let's go to capture one here we have to show the library again and you can see here and this is really interesting uh that it is dark but it has a little bit more color so this is a raw picture by the way the other one is a jpeg this is a raw and you can see how different it is how much more color this has it's kind of strange right now we go to um photo lab and the interesting thing here is you see it like this and the reason for that by the way you can turn that off in the preferences just saying out of the box this is what um photolap is doing it's already applying the smart light filter so if i turn this off the photo is looking like this which is a little bit closer to what we see in capture one but it still has a little bit more color and the skin is more orange which is very interesting the lightroom is like the most neutral so far and then the interesting part here is when we open this up in affinity photo um it is super dark you can almost see nothing which is really strange like is capture one and lightroom doing some adjustment because you don't see it over here you see there is no adjustments on the side which is very interesting and when i click on reset it's not changing so i i'm not sure i don't think there is anything applied to that when you open that up and also in capture one when i click here on reset i can't click on reset because nothing has been done so i don't think there are some adjustments applied to that but it looks different and in affinity for it looks very very dark um raw is always darker flatter than jpegs because shapex are already baked in yeah yeah yeah so there's some difference that's true uh that there is a lot of difference between raw and jpeg and of course in in in ross uh you often like for example i have photographed is darker than it should be so i don't have any kind of overexposure probably too dark to be honest but anyways you can you can do a lot of adjustments with raw a lot more than with jpeg sorry um the interesting thing here is when you look at that like in affinity force is really not much you can do here for for these settings and they are kind of a little bit crude like you have exposure black point brightness contrast clarity saturation vibrance yeah that's that's basically it and you have a little bit here for details and tones and stuff but not much more like when you look on lightroom of course you have all these adjustments a ton of that because there's everything in there that infinity 40 you would have then afterwards when you develop it but the cool thing here is in lightroom it stays a raw i don't have to convert it to something else before that right so kind of interesting right um capture one is the top raw editor it handles raw files better than any other program out there um i'm not sure maybe i mean there's different preferences so i i can't say yes or no to that because i just downloaded a trial but um like i want to show you something not on this photo but on the other photo on this one that is really interesting and let's um load this in real quick because this is basically the next step i don't uh um we can see a little bit more on this picture when we compare that one second let's go here by the way this is another really nice difference for photo lab is you don't have to import anything it doesn't really have this kind of library thing you just open the folder and you have your stuff in there so this is kind of nice because you don't have to wait for let's say 600 photos to import into the folder and create previews and all that stuff you just go into the folder and there is everything you have right so that's kind of nice um so here is something i want to show you that is really interesting and this is very specific about lightroom no other software is doing that um so look at that um here we have on the right side we have highlight shadows uh white and black right so look at that when i adjust the shadows this is actually when you look at the picture look at the brighter areas here on the forehead on the arm there is there is some shadow here in the neck but look at what's happening when i adjust that it is mostly adjusting only the shadows only here um in that area and a little bit over here so very much also dependent on how strong that shadow is and when i push this really high you can see um in the face for example when i go like this when i push this really high the shadows are not going crazy and they like adjust in a very nice way and the same goes for the highlights you can see i go here and i go there the highlights here they get a little bit blown out of course but um they also let's let's uh go back here they stay in the area of where actual light is happening and that's really interesting because when you go over now to photo lab for example and by the way this is the only software that i found that has highlights mid-tones and shadows all the others have only highlights and shadows no mid tones um so when i go here for shadows you can see that everything is adjusted not just the shadows that's really interesting right look at the head look at a little bit what's happening here everything is getting brighter you see that also the bright areas are getting brighter i'm not sure like that's really strange because this should adjust the shadows but it's doing everything right so in that regard it's really interesting that lightroom has a smarter algorithm that says no no just shadows and just the things you perceive as shadows not darker colors but the things that are that appear as shadows in the photo sometimes even you have stuff in the background that is a shadow but uh not you don't want to adjust that specific thing and somehow lightroom knows that it only does like the the shadow that makes the only adjust the shadows that makes the photo look more interesting that's really interesting um by the way one thing that's also interesting here is that the other tools are just in a way way bigger range so you can see here when i go maximum shadows in photo lab and when i go maximum shadows in lightroom lightroom is doing like a little bit uh just to make it like it's in a range where uh i think they these they say well this makes sense and the rest is kind of too much you just you destroy your own pictures i think they try to keep uh keep it simple but by the way this is lightroom classic it's not the other lightroom this is lightroom classic which is a lot better i have to look at this at the chat too sorry let's do that let's take a little break here uh sean paul says i like capture one for the skin um i'm not with lightroom anymore so i don't know the new version but i am very happy with capture one capture one does that too does what too uh take a look at raw therapy it's really powerful and free raw therapy i've not i've never heard of that i have to look at that i i thought that's a youtube channel it sounds like a youtube channel do you know like unboxing therapy or something anyways um lightroom ain't got the flexibility anymore there is plenty editors out there and but you have to look at the two versions like forget the normal lightroom look at lightroom classic because you have all these adjustments uh from the classic version the new lightroom i don't know why they did that it's it has less functions and it's not as nice to use but this lightroom here is actually pretty nice to use um what were you talking about oh yeah the shadows and the the highlights so um yeah you can see like this is nonsense by the way uh to to like of course sometimes you need it to to be that strong in some cases but of course um you wouldn't push it that far but anyways you can see this is doing it everywhere now let's go over to um capture one yes sorry um where do we have it shadows down here and you can see this is also kind of nice like this is actually um doing the shadow areas and not so much the other area so this is kind of similar to what lightroom is doing you can also go kind of extreme um [Music] but it is staying in the areas you would actually define as as shadows and also with the highlights you can see like this is mostly doing the smoke and a little bit the forehand and the arm over here let's assume in over here as you can see when i adjust that um it's it's mainly staying in this kind of area but when you go over here um you can see that this is not um adjusting everything so this is kind of a downside of photo lab and i was really really surprised by that that this is happening oh by the way we also have to look in um an affinity photo and you will be surprised you will be surprised now uh what's happening here uh yes oh there we already have that so let's make an adjustment here for we do have shadow and highlights which is really nice now look at what when i push up my highlights i mean not good to be honest this is why when i i prepare pictures before i put them into affinity photo this is really surprising um oh by the way these are the highlights sorry but the same is for the shadows look at that um what the what is going on here look at the head uh the head yeah the head that's right okay uh what is going on here um this is the maximum setting and when you look here also at the fur even when you put it a little bit it doesn't really look that good and it it becomes very flat it looks like a like a like a painting at a certain point and everything becomes super orange here on this on the look the ear is glowing um of course this is this is pushing it like further than it should go if i go 200 on shadows but even if you do it a little bit you you start to get these kind of ugly colors which is really surprising i was very very surprised by that to see that ac dc has some long way too fantastic software very powerful has a long way too what does that mean a long way too in mind that it's a jpeg yeah it's a jpeg but still um the other software tools can do it right uh so that's the interesting part here right and in infinity photo like really not so much i was very surprised to be honest by that by the way um we can also go in here to the developer persona and here uh we do have um exposure blackpoint brightness we don't have a setting for how do we have shadows and highlights sorry for that let's see here and this looks different do you see that when i go to 100 it it looks at least better it doesn't give you these kind of strange ugly colors which is surprising that the shadows in here is different let's cancel here and make the shadows here again um shadows there we go and let's go here to a hundred percent and you see how you get these kind of flat really not looking good areas here look at that that is not great and as i was really surprised by that especially because this happens on the same software see do you see how how many details you lose and how flat that goes it's really strange uh let's go here to um capture one again on a jpeg shadows push that up and you can see that this is making things brighter but at the same time you have this contrast in here and you see all the hairs and they don't mush together they don't become one flat smear of color so this is if you if you compare that let's go here to a hundred and then look at this and go here to a hundred not great right it's really interesting look how that is kind of smooshed and it doesn't even like make the shadows brighter it just like flattens them it's really really strange look how much better this looks and then uh here we have photo lab let's look here at the hair push up the shadows so up surprisingly um [Music] photo lab is also not that great at that but they have some other adjustments to um to to kind of counterbalance that so interestingly enough in photo lab you have to do some more steps to get a similar result but at the same time uh what i found is that the result is not as pleasing as with capture one or with lightroom which is really interesting uh let's go in here sorry uh and push the shadows up and you can see um it's also kind of nice kind of right now when you look at it um capture one is actually doing kind of the best right it looks kind of the nicest at this point right not not saying as an end result but it's really interesting also like i said lightroom doesn't do it as much they only give you like a slight adjustment um by the way there's another thing we need to look at let's have a look at the chat first one second uh free doesn't always mean best if you uh want to give the highest quality work to clients you have to determine what is best for you this is way as of now i'm um capture one plus affinity uh whatever others yes i mean also if you work with customers if you get paid for the work um keep in mind that the customer is actually also paying for the software right so everything that you have is paid by the customer so it factors into that right so this is also why um you would as a as a hobbyist buy like let's say a studio light for 500 bucks and as a professional you would buy one for 5 000 bucks because you get the money back from the customers at some point because you make business with it of course you have to be able to make business with that but um it's it's an investment right this is the big difference like when you do it professionally everything you buy is an investment while when you do it for a hobby everything you buy is an expenditure is that the right word uh because the money is not coming back you do it for fun there's no no like return on that other than fun which is of course great and you can do whatever you want but it also makes it that you can't afford these bigger things um unless of course you have a really good job that pays that much right so that's that's the big divider between these two so i would say okay if you can afford it from your work and you do it for the customer invest in really good tools that are good for the customer right um what happens if you put the shadow highlights in affinity in luminosity mode ah that's an interesting point i mean kind of you shouldn't have to do that because the adjustment should be smart enough to do that but let's see what happens there no that's it's also very flat you see that i mean it doesn't it doesn't it gives you a different result that it's not as colorful so that is nice you can see here the color is very like fruity at that point um and here it's like the original color but much flatter you know smooshed together a lot more um so that's kind of yeah interesting right i mean of course you you do make the shadows brighter so the tones come closer together if the the other areas stay the same but still um the results here are nice so you have a much clearer picture in these other tools right so that's really really interesting um oh yeah this is another thing that i wanted to show you very interesting chat here it is today it's really good i'm should i do more streams like that maybe or maybe uh like uh make a variation where some at one week i do a a edit on a photo and then in the next one i do a comparison or show you some kind of like tools or things and stuff like that that could be nice like to have to to change oh god it's so hot here wait i i will put on the ventilator tell me if the sound gets bad please and my cat needs to sit somewhere else because otherwise the cold air is blowing on him okay there we go sorry for that let me know if the sound is getting better uh worse okay uh what we're talking about oh yeah look at this so this is also interesting about lightroom it is really supporting you in doing things when you look down here on this curve here tone curve and you can see and this is a really nice feature i really enjoy that i think more software tools should have that um when i go over these areas here it tells me shadows darks lights and then highlights so this also gives me an understanding of how can i actually read that chart and not only does it do that it gives you a range in which you can move it and so when you grab this it's only moving that part that is really really nice you see so this is really supporting you in adjusting things um if you don't know which of these areas are doing what right so you can see this is lights and then we have the darks all of the darks and here down here we have just the shadows and you can adjust this so that is very interesting by the way also giving you a different result than when you use the lever up here for shadows so that's also interesting um could you put up your image before as no i'm you're seeing the screen right um could you put up your image before as we can also experiment and give feedback what do you mean by that could you put up your image before you mean like post it in the facebook group like the raw file or what is that what you mean variations is another really good point so that is another really interesting point that you can do here in wait a second yes you can do it in lightroom in photo lab and in capture one is that you can do different variations of the same um edit you can do it a little bit in affinity photo like i said this is the big difference between software it is made to adjust things and software that is made to edit things and um affinity photo is a photo editing program right so it's very different you can you can do these snapshots here to save different variations i have actually a video about that if you want to check that out let me see here real quick oh wait we are already on my channel let's go here to videos snap shot yes this one you can check out this video here let me quickly link that so you can have that for later um ap snap shot tutorial there we go boom yeah i can do that next time absolutely i can do that i also by the way i had also the idea um to work together with different photographers um who have different skills different backgrounds stuff like that so i can take photos with them i have to search if i can find uh people like that in vienna um and then post their photos their raws and we can edit we can make a challenge uh like that i hope some people are interested in doing that also people have like more studio experience stuff like that that would be really really cool right because my main knowledge is in in in editing things creatively artistically as you know uh from the from the things that that i've done on my channel so far right uh like this stuff here so this is what i mainly do this kind of creative editing um photography i want to learn a lot more but i'm not a specifically a photographer in that sense right so it would be nice to work with more photographers and also i want to do more photos for my channel too for specific uh videos like for example focus stacking stuff like that um what were we talking about um oh yeah the variation sorry i want to show you this real quick um so you i mean you probably know this but you can simply click here right click and then say create virtual copy and then with that copy you can just do like different things they can say okay i want to have a um i want to have a black and white version and i want to do it like this for example and then let's say um i'm just doing some stuff here too to make a variation here right like so okay this is one and then you say okay another virtual copy and then maybe we want to have this softer so let's bring back the clarity and then um when we do here yes remove the contrast a little bit everything is getting a lot softer and then we can go down here and where is it actually i'm not sure um i think i'm sorry i'm thinking about photo lab right now where you can just overlay it with a sepia tone i can't find it right now do you do it here no detail lens correction transform effects effects what is effects first crop grain you can do grain oh cool size oh okay well maybe not grain ah there's another thing i want to show you i just i just remembered but anyways you can do these different variations of pictures so that is very fast this is also a nice thing of kind of um preparing and prototyping a look because you can do a million different looks from a photo right so and you can also do this in in photo lab and you can also do this in capture one where you make these different kind of variations here you go right click and here is it's named a little bit different um i can't even see it sort export rename new new variant they call it the variant you can clone the variant or make a new variant um and you can see now i have this variant here i can just do my my adjustments here if i want to and just create a different kind of look etc we can desaturate it let's go like this so yeah oh we can make it a little bit brighter here push the blacks down there we go so you have kind of a different look and you can kind of compare what kind of direction do we want to go right so that's very easy in affinity if it is shadow highlight under the live filters there is more options there really that is interesting okay we have to look at that one second uh so here why do they have so many variations of that same filter [Music] this is blur clarity unsharpen ripple are you sure oh there we go sorry i've never used the live filter to be honest i've never used the live filter for shadow and highlights um why exactly do you need a live filter when it's a normal adjustment that's kind of interesting all right um can i oh yeah sorry let's zoom in here let's have a look at that is easier or not sorry not easier it gives you different um adjustments shadow range oh oh okay well hmm well i have some cat hair in my mouth sorry that's why the the mouse is jumping that's that's what you get from having a cat uh let's zoom out here real quick and see what this is doing so here we have hmm let's push this up and then shadow arrange so we can define what counts as shadow and what doesn't you can nicely see down here in that area when you look at that how this is kind of creeping into the lighter areas you see this line this is going along here you see how this is sneaking into the lighter areas if i expand the shadow range and then when i make it smaller it kind of sticks down here to these rather dark areas so that is nice but at the same time the result is still this kind of flat looking thing what are the versions 1.6 oh 1.6 even even more radius i suppose the radius let's go here oh wow okay you can go really crazy okay i mean sorry that's also a little bit problematic maybe because you can see up here where you have these hair this is giving you like this kind of dark halo around that area uh let's reset this real quick you can see it's not really here but then when you push that up you kind of get that ah when you set the range you can have adjusted a little bit and oh okay with the radius you can remove that oh interesting yeah i have to i have to look more into that it's very slow i hope my my um oh now it's now it's stronger again what what is going on here one second painful okay um okay now it's cold one second oh there we go this is actually a lot nicer like the 1.6 version is a lot nicer [Music] really cool thank you for that um for the advice i never use that filter i have to look into that more [Music] let's go rocking [Laughter] normally it's possible i can't see the point of trying to edit a jpeg there is zero you can do it's already know there's a lot you can do why wouldn't you be able to do stuff with a jpeg i i'm just showing a jpeg well i'm basically showing that photo because it's a nice photo right now that's the main reason here um but you can do a lot of adjustments in jpeg of course it's a lot more limited than um with uh with raw we can open up the raw photo again one second but i don't have a really kind of nice raw photo let's make here the exposure a little bit higher let's go like this so we can see some stuff and then we can develop this and now we can do the adjustments in here and we can open it up in the other software too one second i hope this doesn't like crash the computer um okay so now we have it in here let's make this a little bit brighter there we go okay cool and so now we can have a look at that let's go like this maybe shadows hsn l panel in develop persona for affinity it i don't know why they don't put more adjustments into the developer so it's very very limited i feel like hmm this is lightroom right now and again as you can see like this is this is adjusting the shadow areas that you personally would also define as shadows but when you look at the face like here the shadows under the eyes this kind of area here it is not as drastically adjusted as the shadow back here because this is a really actually dark shadow right and so it actually looks at what is shadow what is not shadow and then it adjusts that area not everything in the same way and that is really interesting compared to the uh to the other tools when you go back in here again like i said this does some pre-adjustment here let's turn on this smart light here again so this is getting brighter and then let's zoom out here a little bit and so you can see when i play around with that here shadows this is adjusting everything can you see that over the face all the kind of areas not just what you would think is a shadow everything and that is really strange because this is a shadow adjustment right it's that's kind of confusing and lightroom is really good with that i was very very surprised to see that let's have a look at capture one here again let's push this up a little bit from the brightness there we go zoom in here a bit zoom out a bit whoops sorry for that there we go let's see shadows ah better it's it's more like um it's more like lightroom actually with an i think like a nicer result right but you can see also this area is getting brighter here is this area getting brighter let's see [Music] maybe a little bit let's zoom in here on that area here under the eye is this changing yeah it's actually changing more in that dark area here hmm but not so much here so that is very very nice okay cool so that's really good like when you want to do these adjustments and also like the the the importance of that is of course you can do it uh in in the other tools with a lot of like masks and brushing it in and dodge and burn and all these kind of things but you also want to be like you want to work a little bit quicker and have nice quick results right and i was really surprised to see that in in a photo lab is actually not that great for that like i said you have some other adjustments you have to jump through some hoops to get kind of a similar result and also you have here the mid range which is also nice uh sorry mid tones um but still it's different right uh let's see what does the chest uh chat say yes i asked sarah about it and it seems they may listen and bring a true high-end retoucher oh interesting really cool to do a creative session um oh uh i thought you talked about the software so they bring a guy who makes a creative session about retouching so that's pretty cool uh that they have that um creative yes is regard to developing editing no i mean show me any kind of stock page where you can download raw photos because photographers they are so obsessed with their raw files and with them editing i don't know why they love their raw files so much in that they don't give it away because why can't you sell raw files a lot of people would like raw files right uh but photographers somehow they want to edit it themselves but then you buy it on a stock page and they often have like horrible built-in editors on stock pages where you can edit these files in a bad way because often they they try to do it themselves because they want to avoid the cost for a photographer or a designer afterwards to adjust them for their needs um so yeah you you download jpegs and then you adjust them this is what most people do only photographers have these raw files to edit them and it's it's super extra expensive to get a photographer and all the surroundings that you need uh around that uh like you need a light guy and a model and you need to concept the shooting and stuff like that it costs thousands uh compared to a photo that you download either for free or for like 10 bucks or something right it's a huge difference for companies and even big companies use these stock pictures for istock and stuff like that like if you look at photos from often a lot of companies like banks and and and all these kind of insurances and stuff like that they use often stock photos they don't make a specific photo shooting because there's nothing specific to see there you have someone holding a credit card you don't need a specific photo you just edit the credit card in right and this is you get a jpeg for that right so most people edit jpegs so raw is really really cool if you have it but most people don't have it um when they work creatively with that afterwards right that's what i'm saying um and i really wish like i was thinking about maybe starting a company that sells raw files like a platform that is like i stock not maybe yeah you know like a food page and it only sells raw files nothing else only unedited raw files because there's i think there's a huge market out there for that a lot of people need that for example if you want to do online courses on photos and like me you want to do a youtube channel you want to do an agency who wants to edit photos in their specific way in the specific look they want to have it and not explain to the photographer well we need to have it like this no they have a guy in their agency who knows everything about the concept of this brand and edits in that way i think that's a huge market and you can even ask more money for a raw file than for a file where you spend hours editing it in a nice way you know i mean you can maybe prepare some stuff for example make the skin look nice and stuff like that and then yeah save it in a uncompressed way if you know what i mean right maybe a tiff file or a dng file stuff like that right but that would be really good um it would be a massive pain to hold on servers i'm not sure i mean maybe yes maybe true but you have all these pages who sell for example video and i mean video is far bigger than photos and they have thousands of videos i'm not talking about youtube i'm talking about stock pages who have all these kind of files there they have photoshop files who are really big sometimes a lot bigger than raw files stuff like that so and also i mean yes uh it it takes more storage maybe costs more than for jpegs of course it costs more than for jpegs but also it's it's worth more maybe you know what i mean so that could be a thing uh i never sell the raws yeah but why don't you sell the ross what's what's so special about euros what's so special about your editing that another guy couldn't do in a different way because everybody's different right um i'm it's that i don't understand the photographer markets because i'm not coming from a photographer background but i find it really really strange uh what's happening there you know that's you can't give things away and you need to watermark everything and like why what what for if people want to steal your photo they leave the watermark in they don't even care about that right you see so many posts online where it says i stock eyestock eyestock even in videos on youtube people just use it because they say well i i linked back to you through the watermark so that's okay and it's fair use and blah blah they always find kind of an excuse for that and then good luck going through all the hoops of like suing that person and getting some money back rather than paying more for the for the lawyer and then you have i don't know a little kid who isn't responsible anyway for that so you don't get anything so that's kind of a complex topic to go through um it's never spoken of photographers hate the idea of others yes yes that's the thing but why why i don't understand why why is it a problem for them if others edit their photo like if you if you do sound if you do video of course other people are gonna buy a sound sample and then edit it themselves they buy a video and then edit them themselves why you you can buy videos that are in lock lock is not raw but lock is like the unedited kind of way that is specifically made so it can be edited better you can buy that but you can't buy raw photos i don't understand it's really strange anyways uh too much talk about that let's go back to this stuff here uh by the way if you have some if you have some things you want to see like things i didn't talk about in that uh please tell me so that's that's um also good uh because i have looked at some parts i think i have mostly talked about the things i wanted to talk about to be honest these kind of differences because of course there's a million different comparisons and we can't look at all of them also is kind of contrast with contrast and microcontrollers which is also by the way a really nice tool to have the differentiation between contrast as you can see here contrast is a kind of the bigger things and then you have micro contrast which is um how can i say it's the contrast between the elements um let's zoom in here for example on that here a little bit as you can see when i push up the contrast this is giving me more contrast overall for the photo as you would expect from contrast but th
