Resistant AI is building AI-powered solutions to combat fraud in financial services documentation and workflows with the help of Google Cloud. These solutions can expedite background checks, reduce fraud losses, and speed up underwriting and claims processing processes. In this interview, Roger Walton, Chief Revenue Officer at Resistant AI, discusses how the company is building solutions on Google Cloud to help fight the rapid expansion of financial crime. Walton explains the increasing sophistication of AI-driven cybercriminal tactics, the challenges of fraud prevention, and the importance of collaboration between technology providers and the financial industry to stay ahead of evolving threats. “We’re working with Google to ensure that our good AI is better AI and staying ahead of the bad actors,” Walton says. Cybercriminals are increasingly utilizing advanced AI strategies to exploit automation in financial services. This, along with the emergence of faster payment systems, can amplify vulnerability to attacks. To preempt organized fraud before it escalates, Resistant AI’s specialized document fraud detectors scrutinizes documents 500 different ways to prevent fraud from infiltrating document automation workflows like those based on Google Cloud’s Document AI solution before they get processed. This solution provides hyper-customizable decisioning and immediate feedback for end users. “There are plenty of new types of behavior that nobody's seen before. So you can't write a model for it,” Walton says. “You have to take a different approach.” Google Products used: Resistant AI relies on Google Cloud Storage, Google Cloud Functions, and Google Cloud Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to help run some of the core analysis, and Google Cloud Load Balancing and Cloud Armor for the UI.
