the Democratic party needs to quell fears of Biden's age and accurity by Ben Davis the perception of the president's inability to control has been compounded by actual policy failures in particular Israel Gaza with the primaries all but over the stage is set for the general election and one thing is clear Joe Biden is losing despite the fact that Donald Trump is under indictment on 91 felon accounts is incredibly unpopular and attempted a coup at the end of his last term he is currently in the poll position to win a second term the stakes of this election are extraordinary High still the top- of- Mind issue for voters is something Democrats can't change and can barely hope to mitigate Biden's age and accurity polling has shown that Biden's age and the resulting perception of confusion and incompetence are the vast are the top issues preventing voters from pulling the lever for him the vast majority of Voters believe he's too old and lacks a mental cue to be president and should not run again clips of him forgetting words and seeming confused regularly play on cable news and go viral online this was before special council's report alleged that in interviews the president forgot when he was vice president and even when his son Bo died of cancer matters were not help by his offensive emergency press conference which did little to assuage anyone watching of his ability to be president this is clear an issue for voters that will continue to grow so I thought I'd share my quick thoughts on this because there's three ways I want to take this the first is when do we take Liberties away from people not just Presidents uh not just leaders but even the people in our family our loved ones when when do we decide that we're going to take away somebody's Liberty when is it right I think of my grandfather who passed away from Alzheimers and here was a man who was just one of the nicest humans alive so full of joy uh so full of care always making jokes always playing little tricks doing things like line dancing and coming up with choreographies and just uh brought a smile to everybody's face and we saw just a devastating change that it made to his life and the people around him his wife my grandmother um his his uh kids my parents uh and a little bit to us I was still a little bit Young when it happened and I watched the man go from being the life of a party to not being there not recognizing his family not recognizing his grandson me and I wasn't a part of the conversation when my parents ended up taking away some of his liberties from um him not being able to drive him not being able to do his daily tasks him staying at home with his wife to then eventually that being too much uh of a burden on her to be able to manage so he had to be uh put in a home and take Tak care of and just watching that decline when do we decide that it's right to pull somebody out of a position not just president but in general when when do we decide and I don't know that there's a a clear answer but it's something that's been on my mind uh I haven't had to face that issue my parents are still alive still very sharp thankfully but when do we actually decide that we have to take some of their freedoms and Liberties and rights away from them is it when they're at risk of harming themselves is it when they're at risk of harming others I don't know that's something that um I'm wrestling with thankfully I don't have to deal with yet but this article just made me think about it so when do we decide that we're Taking Liberties away from somebody else the second point is when do we restrict restrict our own liberties you know and and number one we don't we probably don't want other people to take things away from us I I imagine I can't imagine being whatever age and I'm starting to lose my faculties and I I don't know if I would want people to take things away from me I probably wouldn't how do you trust the Judgment of somebody else how do you trust the Judgment of your kids over you you know as a parent it's hard to imagine that my 14-year-old son uh would make a better decision than me uh right now at least but as uh as I get older I'm going to have to deal with that at some point that he's going to know more than me and he's going to make a better judgment call than me and at some point may not I may not be able to make important life changes for myself so then when do we restrict our own Liberties when do we say to ourselves that it's time to hang it up that somebody else should take over that you're not capable of doing something we we've had uh moments I'm sure even something as simple as going to the eye doctor and getting glasses you're deciding that you're going to use a tool to help you now because you your vision isn't as good as it used to be you know ajan uh sucks and takes its toll but your mental faculties I can't imagine it's maybe one of the things I fear the most can't imagine losing my memory losing my faculty is not being able to remember where I am or what I'm doing or what I was supposed to be doing if I think about it now what how old am I 40 I'm 44 in May I still hopefully have a long ways away before I have to actually deal with it but it's terrifying and so when do we take our own Liberties away when do we restrict our own freedoms this weekend I was uh in the US on a trip and I was in a car with a gentleman super successful entrepreneur in his mid 80s and we were driving from the event back to his place and the drive when he put it into his driving app was going to take twice as long as it should and like why is it going to take that long to get there there must be some construction or something and he said no I don't take highways anymore so in his mid 80s driving and for his own safety restrictions we didn't dive too deep into it but he just doesn't drive on highways anymore and so he took that away from himself saying he's capable of driving at lower speeds but not at higher speeds and so when do you make that call would you know when to stop would you know when to pull away would you know when to give up some of your freedoms I don't know that I would uh and thankfully I'm not anywhere close to it and I haven't dealt dealt with it I haven't dealt with it personally I haven't dealt with it with anybody really in my family my my grandparents were too old uh well I was too young to really know and my parents didn't really share the the conversations that were going on and ultimately when I have to deal with this I I don't know it's a it's an ethical dilemma it's a moral dilemma I'd love your thoughts and feedback if you've dealt with this uh how you did it I don't know that there's a manual for this and so it's something that I think about that I wanted to mention this video uh and then the last Quick thought I had was here how do we how do do we value um experience versus Youth and this is something that we'll see all the time in in leadership not just in uh elections and campaigns but but in business how do you how do you value youth versus experience how do you know who you should hire uh how do you know who you should vote for how do you know who you should support and in political campaigns you'll often hear well I'm I'm the one with experience or I'm the one with all the youthful ideas and energy and I think there's a case for both and I think some things you can learn only through experience I think there are some things that if you look at just living you look at love you look at loss you look at death um even the things we're talking about having to take freedom away from your parents having to having to bury your parent having to bury a child it changes you it makes you hopefully a better leader a better person you spent more time in self-reflection and so I think the more somebody has been through those battles the more hopefully empathetic they are caring they are courageous they are willing to lead and that is something that that I value uh in looking at people that I look up to and respect ultimately my parents are my biggest role models and a big reason is because of the life experiences that they had to go through that I didn't and they taught me how to be a human um all my values come from them so even though they're not entrepreneurs I learned the most in life from them but there are some things that you can pick up pretty quickly you know if you're looking at Tech technology and Ai and any almost any skill you can pick up pretty quickly and you know if you're experienced in AI well what does that mean you know somebody can pick that up really really quickly if you're determined and ambitious and so you know having a decade of experience leading people versus a te decade of experience in a technology like AI those aren't the same thing those aren't equally valuable and so I think depending on what you're looking to bring somebody in for or hire them for work with them for or have them lead you through if it's something that requires life experience relationships right they know that you've worked with somebody before they've worked with people before those relationships can't just be built in 30 days and so when I'm evaluating somebody I'm looking at how much of that experience is needed for the job and how much of the youthful energy ideas courageousness boldness do I want in there too because those are real too because when you get the right person with big bold Visionary ideas it's not usually the people in their 70s and 80s and 90s coming up with the Visionary ideas it's the people much younger and so I think the ultimate is the balance right I was at when I sold my company I joined a venture capital firm and we were raising half a million dollars to $15 million for companies who wanted to grow and the three main Partners at the firm were all in their 60s or 70s and they had all the relationships that I didn't have and they had all the expertise that I didn't had and they knew the the language of the street and how to raise money all the stuff that I didn't know and they'd seen so many businesses I had only seen one business mine but they they had seen so many businesses and and raised so much money for different companies and different Industries and so when you see one thing in an industry you can bring it to another one say huh maybe you should do it like that they had all that experience that I didn't have but for them it was kind of a retirement job you know they already made all their money they were in their 60s or 70s they didn't want to just retire so they did this they were not hungry they were not ambitious and so I joined at 202 and I was eager I wanted to go close deals I wanted to go meet people I wanted to go raise money I wanted to go help and so I was out there hustling bringing in deals and they then allowed me to come in on the deal and learn and so they taught me so much and I brought them deal flow and I think it's in that that relationship where it really works out if I had to pick an ultimate relationship you know you've either got the leader who's surrounded by tons of uh younger ambitious creative people who want to change the world or you've got the young uh the young leader who's surrounded by mentors who guide and give advice and experience and I think if you lean too far into one Camp versus the other you really miss out on a lot I think a lot of times we're trying to put people in the camps and you're and we're always playing in the black or white game it's this or it's that and there's no in between where really most of the answers are it's the end it's it's the both so experience versus youth both and for most of the problems that I think we Face uh it's finding the common ground in the middle path and that's not as sexy and it doesn't make the headlines um but I think that's I think that's ultimately how we win so I would love your thoughts on these you know what do you think when do we take Liberties away from people when do we restrict our own abilities what are your thoughts on experience versus youth if I'm coming back to this article giving my quick thoughts on the whole Biden situation I think I think he has to do a better job in showing that he's there now I think he can't keep dodging the media I think he's going to have to do the debates uh and he's going to he's going to get shown it's either going to be yeah he's all there and he's kicking butt or no and he's going to get uh exposed pretty quickly and I would I would hate to be in that position and I'm thinking if I'm I'm not American I'm Canadian but if I had a vote I would be worried I'd be worried right now would I want to give if there's concerns about his mentality and and not just from the other party laying attacks because that's always going to happen in politics but from your own party and from people genuinely concerned and then do you want four more years that there's a struggle right now what's going to happen in the next four years and so I think he's got uh he's got to prove himself and that is uh that's a tough place to be but if you're running for president it's tough so this is a new series that uh that I might create or this might be the only video that I ever make basically looking at something in the news giving my thoughts and trying to share maybe a different perspective so it's not just Biden versus Trump and who's right yeah he's too old or uh or Trump is terrible or whatever um but trying to to die behind the story and talk about some of these things because if you've dealt with Taking Liberties away from someone you love or if you had to restrict your Liberty or you're worried about it I think if we can have a conversation around it then we might just make the world a better place at least that's what uh I'm holding in my heart let me know what you think uh be nice in the comments uh we're not it's not meant to be a political attack one way or the other I love your thoughts on all three these questions or any single one of them thank you for watching let me stop this uh share screen thank you for watching let me know in the comments continue to believe and I'll see you soon take care
