people say to me I sabotage myself and what I say to them it's impossible nobody can sabotage themselves the brain is not capable of sabotage it's a survival brain it's trying to protect you it may move you into a direction that looks like sabotage but is not sabotage I'm going to be taking you through the process that I developed to help people perform at a higher level by looking at some events and experiences in their lifetime that may be interfering with their ability to stay present if you read all the self-help books you've probably worked with a lot of people who develop self-help books that say stay present be in the moment however our minds don't naturally do that so if you don't stay present and in the moment you're not going to perform at your highest level and I'm going to explain I'm going to give you all the science behind why our minds do that even for the highest successful people even people like yourself you have another gear I'm going to show you how to reach that next gear today I here with the legendary Dr Don Wood we're going to dive into trauma anxiety and performance to help me become a better entrepreneur well how would you describe yourself Don I guess I'm the founder of the inspired performance Institute which is basically a program that I developed to help people perform at a higher level by eliminating the effects of trauma that they've had in their lifetime he works with high Achievers entrepreneurs CEOs celebrities athletes to remove the trauma from their life and help improve their performance so we're going to go through a process today that he's going to guide me through and hopefully I come out in the other side with even more increased performance I'm an entrepreneur so I'm not a you know celebrity or athlete um but how does how has this impacted like what's the work that you've done with entrepreneurs who are trying to hit the next level of success in their life a lot of people don't understand sometimes what is affecting them so sometimes they have what I call business trauma it could have been a failed business or maybe a situation where they had a struggle in their uh career and that is affecting the way their mind is still operating today so all of a sudden they may be afraid to make a move and they don't know why they can't they get paralyzed by making a move so I give you an example I had a a gentleman very successful guy made about $2 million a year trading options derivatives very successful but every time the fourth quarter came he shut down and he had no idea and he just said I lose all my motivation in the fourth quarter he says my two partners get very frustrated with me because I sort of flake out on them and he says but you know I've done well but I just can't seem to get my motivation going in the fourth quarter we traced it back to in his childhood his father was his Mentor was his real hero very successful guy but went bankrupt four times and so what happened was he says I remember flying in private jets he says and then moving in the middle of the night getting into a car because we were being evicted he says and then we'd be in private jets again and then we'd be back in an eviction situation so what his mind was doing was literally when he got to a certain threshold of success he would shut down had no idea why but it was his mind was trying to protect them and this is the thing I think Evan that you'll love especially because you work with so many and you're such a high performer as well people say to me I sabotage myself and what I say to them it's impossible nobody can sabotage themselves the brain is not capable of sabotage it's a survival brain it's trying to protect you it may move you into a direction that looks like sabotage but is not sabotage so this guy would say oh sabotaged myself in the fourth quarter but in actual fact what is his mind trying to do stop him from losing the 2 million don't take any more risks we hit our level of success let's shut down so after he went through this whole program he said I've never felt so calm like he's just driving home he felt amazing and he called me on December 15th said today's my last day he got all the way through to December 15th without shutting down that's awesome yeah so we're going to dive in and see what that looks like for me and what are we going to be doing so people are going to watch what are we actually going to be doing over the next well we're going to spend four or five hours together yes yeah this video is being cut down but what are we going to be doing for the next four hours I'm going to be taking you through the process that I develop to help people perform at a higher level by looking at some events and experiences in their lifetime that may be interfering with their ability to stay present if you read all the self-help books right you've probably worked with a lot of people who develop self-help book that say stay present be in the moment however our minds don't naturally do that so if you don't stay present and in the moment you're not going to perform at your highest level and I'm going to explain I'm going to give you all the science behind why our minds do that even for the highest successful people even people like yourself you have another gear I'm going to show you how to reach that next gear I'm uh I'm excited I don't know what we're going to uncover in the next four hours and I'm excited to dive in let's do it all right well Evan I am so glad to have you here right i' I've known you for a little while and it's just sort of great to sort of keep sharing with you some of the things that you're sort of seeing what we do but today what I'm going to do is I'm going to take you through the process that I developed and the process was developed specifically to help people who have dealt with trauma that was sort of the Genesis of it so I'm going to give you a lot of the science behind what I learned and why I developed the program so I'm going to take you through the process if if at any point you have a question it doesn't interfere with the process feel free to just say hey I'm not sure I understood that great can you explain it again right or if you have any kind of comments you want to make doesn't interfere there's a couple of places where we don't want to take some breaks but I'll give you a heads up beforehand but if you need to take a break and you say hey I just need a quick break right it doesn't interfere with the process okay so this is just a flowing I'm going to be talking you can ask questions as we go along sound good yeah yeah yeah let's do it awesome all right so as you see I've got the screens up there and I'm going to be taking you through a couple of things on the screen what I really first start talking about is how trauma affects performance now trauma is relative you know so some people will say well I've never had any real trauma in my life or I've had very little trauma how would that affect my performance so big T trauma are the obvious things you know people have had a car accident an assault or something like that those are those are big tea traumas but I I wrote my second book and I called it emotional concussions because it may not be a big te trauma like that it could be the coach that told you you're not good enough the teacher that embarrassed you you know called you out in front of class you know my wife has a great example of that when she was younger of how a teacher called her out and put her up in front of the class and started firing questions at her and she froze and from that experience she learned as a child that she wasn't very smart that's the message that she got I froze so now as an adult before she ever even had met me right she would never want to stand up in front of a group of people so you'll see people all the time who are afraid of public speaking well it could have come from that kind of an emotional concussion now was the teacher trying to do that no but there's lots of examples of people who have experienced that and it shows up in the way they perform it shows up in the way they respond to their current environment and what they're dealing with and I'm going to explain the science behind that okay the good news about all of this it's all fixable so we don't have to live and manage and cope with it so trauma or emotional concussions are having an effect on the way our minds operate in the present right now I already have a million questions you already have a million question no no I'm listening I going all over this is great keep going all right so when I talk about the brain and I talk about the mind it's two different things so when I talk about the brain it's the physical brain the hardware right so if I drop my brain on the ground like if I drop my computer on the ground it can physically get damaged so you can get a concussion that will affect the way it operates so the brain when I say brain I'm talking about physical computer when I talk about the mind I'm talking about the software that's running inside the the computer now you were born we were all born with pre-installed software so we don't have to think about heart rate digestion all of those things are happening for you below your conscious awareness so you're operating right on this software and you don't have to think about it everything is taken care of for you so that software just like any software in a computer is prone to glitches and error messages the physical brain is subject to physical damage so sometimes people get injuries a car accident with a head injury and it affects the way they operate right or you veterans come back from war right and they've had a concussion from a bomb so that's going to show up and they'll show up with post- tromatic stress it looks like post-traumatic stress but it's actually traumatic brain injury so my youngest son had three different head injuries and ended up with traumatic brain injury but they kept saying he has major depression and they just wanted to medicate them and I kept saying I believe it's traumatic brain injury the brain was concussed three different times and it's not operating properly but it looks like and presents like depression or post-traumatic stress so that's why I show the distinction between the brain and the mind right any questions about that or any I know you said you had some questions so about that I'm already I'm already like skipping ahead and trying to find the traumas and uh where I maybe it makes sense now or you can tell me we'll get to that but um I'm thinking in terms of where does it what are the problems that show up like what are the things that I would want to you know fix right now um which then might reverse engineer back into the trauma because if you if you came in and said hey EV where do you have trauma like oh I don't know I pretty happy life pretty optimistic guy um don't really live in the past and don't wake up with nightmares or anything and don't resonate with maybe a big tea trauma unless it's so big that I've like the software has just forgotten about it because it prevent me from operating um but if you ask me where where do I have problems or where do I want to improve uh I can come up with a few things which then might lead back to like why is that even a problem they might lead to anyway so where where my mind is going but I don't want to interrupt your process it doesn't interfer the process so feel free to interject anytime if you have an idea like that or whatever because it can help us okay well the two things that I would say then is one around sleep MH so I common with entrepreneurs but don't want to just accept that as a as a default um I have a hard time getting to sleep right mind will be racing y tried all sorts of different things um I'm not thinking about uh anything uh consciously anything traumatic but more like who what what should I do tomorrow and what how about this and I should change his thumbnail and I should going to talk to Don we going to ask Don you know the mind is going maybe that maybe that's rooted in something uh once I am asleep I I sleep pretty well but it takes a while to get to sleep and the other one would be I've always uh really looked up to people who take bold bets M and don't consider myself a risk taker this came up at a genius Network um last week at the 100K meeting Joe asked every what's the biggest risk you've ever taken like I don't I don't consider myself to be a risk taker although from outside people might see me and think I do risky things sure yeah but um I think of when uh example when you go to Disney there's the Indiana Jones uh spectacular if you ever been there but this is big stunt show with Indiana Jones and my wife and the kids would go and experience that and I would walk across the street of Disney to go through uh the story of Walt Disney it's the the the mission and the mouse you know I forget what it's called but basically the history of how Walt Disney started his company and the reason we do that is because it's super boring for the kids and so like go watch Indiana Jones and explosions and fire and gunshots whatever and I'm going to walk through this history lesson but what I always love was he multiple times just bet everything to make his dream happen yep uh for Snow White for Disneyland Disney World he just constantly put it all on the line to make it happen and I admire that I would never do that I don't see myself as like that's way too risky to put everything that I've built on the line um and so whether it's Walt Disney or Elon Musk or Steve Jobs or whoever um I I am jealous in a aspirational way MH uh of their boldness and um maybe that's rooting in fear you know or trauma somewhere and so it could be very well could be so it could have come from even an experience outside of you it could have been as I explained a little bit earlier the gentleman whose father was his mentor and his hero right obviously was a massive risk-taker right and but also went bankrupt four times right so that had an effect on his son so his son then didn't you know especially when a child is growing up you don't have enough life experience to interpret right the world that you're growing up in so for a child that affected his safety and so now that safety message is embedded very early into his system and so now all of a sudden he's looking at how much risk can I take and then he gets to a certain limit and he can't break through it it's the same thing what you're going to love is when you listen to the audios after we finish here the 4 hours the next 30 days you listen to audios that are all working on on your performance there's stories about Disney okay right great so you're going to love I'm talking about exactly that how did Disney do it how do these people who are successful right do these kinds of things well it's because they were able to over you know override any kind of interference that they had maybe experienced earlier in their life but those are the kinds of things that everybody can do you just need to know how to do it for example I talk about the Roger banister story M right how did Roger banister break the 4minute mile it was considered impossible in fact the whole world had the belief and I know you have a lot of right talk about beliefs right the whole world believe that your heart would explode and so of course your mind is going to stop you right and then somebody would say oh we sabotage ourselves before we hit a 4-minute mile no the mind is saying shut down because we believe this could kill us and so your mind is survival based Roger banister the way he was able to do it is he broke the 4minute mile down into quarter miles and he figured out how fast he had to run the quarter mile and trained the quarter mile and then trained a half a mile so he had to literally break one minute for the quarter mile so once he did it for a quarter of a mile he just said okay I got to do that twice now to get a half a mile and then three4 so the way he broke it down was in chunks so that his mind felt safe and then once he trained his mind to realize I can do this and my heart's not exploding as soon as he broke it 17 people broke it within a year and a half and now kids in high school break it so it was a belief and I know that's a real big thing for you everybody gets stuck in belief Bel and the and here's where the big issue comes in Evan which is fascinating a lot of those beliefs come in from childhood and they come in from even with the best of intentions come in with a child during the most formative brain development years between zero and seven is when they're learning as much as they can learn they're just absorbing everything but they're doing it with no life experience so they're interpreting the world with no experience you see how a belief can easily get set up I'm not good enough I'm not smart enough I'll give you a great example a lady who she said to me uh I was doing a group presentation and I asked for a volunteer that wanted to come up and do a clearing technique with me so she came up and I said so have you had a traumatic event in your life she goes no I've never really had any trauma and I'm like oh great you're going to volunteer you haven't had any trauma and she says no I had a really good childhood everything was really good in my life and so I said can you think of an event in your lifetime that when you think about it you feel an emotion and she thought about it and she goes yeah okay I've got one and she says so I was about six years of age she says and I was in church with my family and as she's starting to talk I can see her eyes starting to fill up and which means the emotion is there and she says and I was talking and my grandmother took out her hairbrush and hit me on the head and said stop talking you're inur church and then the Water Works she couldn't catch her breath she was sobbing so hard and as she caught her breath what she said was I lost my voice that day I never stand up for myself I had never connected that what did a six-year-old hear we don't want to hear you now was her grandmother trying to do that no so with no intent at all a six-year-old interpreted what the grandmother just told her and she took it literally stop talking and she did and so that had never occurred to her and so many times we get back into those incidences when we were smaller and younger that that'll have an effect on us so I'm going to talk about my wife's story as well she grew up in a very traumatic household much different than I grew up in and so she's living in this traumatic household with a very very abusive father and so she's six years of age and the mothers in the neighborhood put together a tea party and so she was all excited her grandmother dressed her all up in a pretty dress and did her hair and she went to the Tea Party and when she got there the mothers were greeting all the little girls and when Bridget came in she said oh my goodness look at Bridget she's going to be a real Heartbreaker when she grows up and all the other mothers went oh yeah Bridget's going to be a heartbreaker for sure she says she got sick and had to go home what Bridget heard was she's a bad person she's going to hurt people and she wants to do the opposite because she's being hurt so she's hearing that they saw something bad in me now were they doing that on purpose no they were trying to compliment her but a six-year-old doesn't know what a heartbreaker is and so that and when she told me that story this is before I developed this program she was sobbing so those are the kinds of events that we're looking for that will happen an effect on your performance at some point because your mind will use that experience to filter through to try to get you to behave or act in a certain way make sense yeah know I love it it's exciting um my particular interest is taking the the subconscious and making it conscious so I mean through all the work that I've done and the people I've researched and talked to and interviews Etc um I try to pay attention to my Lang language and I try to pay attention to when things bubble up to the conscious uh example you know we I was doing an Instagram story and I said uh we've got 42 people on our team now that's crazy and then I caught myself well that's not crazy like if that's crazy then how do I get to 500 people right right I've now limited myself that okay this is crazy what we've done here no this is just a start and so it's like I I try to catch it in those patterns that come out it's like okay well I I want to be able to build it to 500 people or 5,000 people like that that is doable I may not well I don't believe that that's possible at the moment but whenever I catch a belief like that then I can start attacking it it's the ones that are buried that are deeper that are uh running on autopilot that don't Bubble Up that yep that uh I'm particularly interested in diving into and figuring out and uh unlocking cuz man that's exciting what uh can happen after we can definitely do that and that's what's amazing a lot of times people don't even know what it is right again cuz they're high functioning they're doing really well you would never think somebody who's doing really well has those kinds of issues but they're running in the background and the subconscious mind is very powerful it's survival based it will do anything to keep you alive and that's his main mission and so if it moves you in another Direction that'll look like sabotage but it's not as protection and so we're going to get into that now some sometimes you may not even know what I love about this program is we don't have to get into all kinds of details about it we don't have to explore it and look at it and go back and forth and examine it your subconscious knows what it is we're going to get your mind to do all the work it's going to reset on its own and I'll explain the science about why it works and why I use the four hours okay great all right well hopefully I didn't derail your not at all no no this is good it never does right cuz it this is just a flowing process so feel free to ask a question at any time okay great right so we've got the brain the physical brain can get concussed can get injured the software can develop glitches and error messages the glitches and error messages are those kinds of beliefs that get set up right and that'll create a a glitch the thing I say to everybody when they come in is this there's nothing wrong with you and there's nothing wrong with your mind now I've had people literally EV cry when I say that because they'll come in in add for example and they feel broken they feel defeated right everybody's told them that they're a terrible person and they've got no morals no character right no willpower and I just say no that's not true addiction is a code I don't believe it's a disease it's a code that got developed through experiences and your mind now uses that Resource as a way to protect you so I'll get into a little bit more detail but when I say that to people we take away the stigma that there's something wrong so people with mental health issues right feel instantly there's something wrong with us right what did what's wrong with me so for example if somebody comes in and they say I have anxiety I have depression I have post-traumatic stress or panic attacks I say no that's the symptom that isn't the problem but if you go to your doctor and you say I have anxiety what are they going to do they're going to treat the symptom they're going to immediately look at the anxiety and figure out how to help you with your anxiety anxiety is just the symptom of the problem why would your mind be anxious it's anxious for a reason something's running in the background convincing your mind that you need to be on H hyper alert hyper vigilance so your mind is now worried about something doesn't it make sense that if we get to what your mind is looking for right we can fix the problem maybe that's why I'm not sleeping it takes me a while to fall asleep yes there's something your mind's not okay with okay and it wants some resolution to it and so as long as there's no resolution it's going to continue to find the resolution and it'll continue to Loop through it and that's what it is so the same thing with panic attacks so I got a patent on this on how we can eliminate panic attacks a panic attack is a is a combination of psychological and physical so the psychological iCal the subconscious is looping through something activates the physiological the physiological then exasperates the psychological the psychological then speeds up which then speeds up the physical and it gets into a psychological physical Loop and what we can do is we can actually figure out when that's going to happen before it happens you got another one now this is exciting okay good yeah yeah so we got sleep I think I know on your questionnaire you got to kind of come up with with three things so we got the Sleep one we got the kind of thinking big and being Bolder one a third one that comes up which uh which will be fun um anything health related I get I get queasy around so like i' I fainted uh when I had my blood drawn I had a concussion in 2019 because I was researching some medical biohacking stuff which I love because I want to optimize and everything but then I I fainted um even talking about health uh issues in the family like if somebody is going in for a health um checkup or they have a problem whatever as soon as they're talking about it I got to make sure I sit down my heart starts racing a little bit uh and I have no idea where that comes from so that'll be good we'll see where it's coming from somewhere yeah yep yeah and it's really annoying it's like come on we got to deal with this Y and your mind's instantly going into an activation yeah yeah yeah okay yep when people say to me that triggered me this triggers me I he I hear that all the time I never like the word trigger I always said trigger sounds negative and violent I don't believe our brains and our minds are negative and violent I think they're trying to protect us I say your system's going into an activation why would your system activate there's a reason why it activates it doesn't just do it for no reason so something activated the nervous system so what you were just talking about the physiological that you felt where your heart starts racing that's an activation of your nervous system your mind thinks you're in danger but are you in danger no right right but your mind doesn't know that so it activates and it's trying to get you to do something to go somewhere and to do something so that's what's happening so that activation is a softer way of saying it than trigger and um so now I get everybody who comes through this program will then start using activation instead of trigger that's great all right so that's what I'm expecting you to now say is activation why did your system activate why did you get into an anxious mode why did you get into a depressed mode why did it activate and so that's what I'm going to talk about Okay so we've got the activation of the system what I want to share with you now is when we quiet the Mind down so we don't have that activation constantly going Health improves because a lot of Health reasons the people reason the people are dealing with health issues is because their nervous system is constantly being activated which then affects their their health this is parasympathetic sympathetic yep yep okay and so if you're in this constant state of fight or flight you're going to be using energy and so then that energy is not available for health so I'm going to share a lot of that science as well so let me ask you on that so I have an Ur ring and one of their latest things that they track is stress MH and I don't know how accurate it is or what biometric marker they're pulling from but um it it for me will often show stress during the day when I'm just working like I don't feel stressed I'm not like oh my go stress to me feels like I'm really worried about something as opposed to just working I wonder what it says right now if I'm stressed it would be really interesting right cuz when I'm doing interviews when I'm when I'm talking to people when I'm talking to my team we're working through problems uh planning the future I don't feel stressed I wouldn't identify stress but but the ring is telling me that I'm in a stressed mode um I think I like I like it like I like I like being on I like thinking I like being creative I like and I I maybe don't spend enough time in the other mode yep uh maybe because I don't like it well what I'm going to show you though is you actually going to perform better calm yeah okay and I'm going to show you how we can get that stress out so you can operate in that calm mode yeah not in that stressed mode and that's lifechanging so that'll make a big difference overall in your system healthwise everything else yeah I think I wonder like if you ask me how I felt now I wouldn't say stressed right I don't know that I would say calm uh engaged excited yep uh and that or active or like that that would be more what I would be thinking less calm I think Cal Zen uh you know Bliss out obviously still we don't have the conversation um and I don't know maybe I just haven't accessed it because I don't feel stressed but I also don't feel calm and so once we show you how to do this and we train your mind you can stay in that very calm State okay and I'm going to I'm going to talk about that that's the AL brain way yeah and it really does and it makes a difference and you perform better because your mind is going to um operate at a more efficient system when it's not burning extra energy okay so that's the whole idea behind it so I worked with an athlete who told me one time he says don't you think that nervous energy before a race is really good for you he said I get those butterflies I got feel sick to my stomach I said no it's not better you're not going to you're burning energy you want to conserve that energy you want to have that energy available for performance not burning right fuel for no reason and so once we get the nervous system calmed down by stopping that Loop of information that keeps on running that your mind has maybe been using for 20 30 years to try to protect you we can reset that okay so I'm going to tell you the story of how this whole program got developed it's a very interesting story so you know I'm from Canada as well right so I was born in Toronto and I was adopted from birth I always knew I was adopted so there was never a question and um you always knew like your parents told you yeah okay from day one so I knew I was picked up at the hospital I luckily got adopted by these amazing people who were the most calm and nurturing people it was really incredible when I tell people my story it almost sounds too good to be true but they really were we can't my brother and sister and I can't ever remember them arguing we can't ever remember them raising their voice they never argued that was the world I'm growing up in so as a child my nervous system stayed regulated and so my parents never yelled at us never hit us if we got disciplined it was always done without anger and so so we could get disciplined but it was never done in fear so I grew up in this world very calm very nurturing my sister was also adopted she's the middle child and my brother is the oldest child he was in a natural child but my mother couldn't have any more children and so they really didn't want to adopt me but our family doctor was the one that came and told them that they really needed to adopt me and so there was a story to it but the story was is there was a connection to him and he wanted my parents to adopt me and so they were much older and they said you know it's getting a little late for us to adopt but they did and thank goodness they did so that was the world I'm growing up in I played hockey so hockey players can fight so I didn't get picked on and bullied so I pretty much went through life without really any kind of issues my friends I didn't realize did not have the world I grew up in a lot of my friends had been physically emotionally and sexually abused we had two teachers at our school that were sexually abusing kids two principles the guy I ran our little league for 35 years A lot of my friends had gone through that abuse but nobody talked about it so I didn't know it existed nobody ever shared it with me I didn't see it and it didn't happen to me so I just assumed that everybody was living in my world and had my parents I didn't know that they weren't doing that so that was news to me and I really didn't see that during my childhood it wasn't until I really sort of got much older that I realized that not everybody lived in my world I was in a very very unique position but this is how the program got developed had I not had my life I don't think I would have known how to do this I knew what the model was I've been living the model all my life I can get bumped right but my system as a child learned to regulate very quickly so if I got you know yelled at by a coach or a teacher or whatever as soon as I came home I came right back into safety I lived in safety so my system would come back into regulation and it wouldn't continue to run so that was a very unique situation um a lot of people don't understand that that that's even possible but had I not done that I wouldn't have understood what the model can be so hockey was my main sport uh tennis was my other Sport and so I was a teaching tennis pro at 16 and ended up getting a job in Miss Saga teaching at a club that my wife's best friend was a receptionist at and she introduced us and I fell in love with her really fast and so we became close very quickly so Bridget and I um started you know seeing each other a lot more so now I'm around her house a lot more but Evan there was something different about this house that I didn't understand because when I was there I was like I don't know it feels different I could feel some tension in the house but but I didn't know what it was the I love you sounded fake the hugs feel felt forced right there was no sincerity in some of these things and it was just awkward to me and then I saw it her father was just a maniac very violent angry temper and just saw this explosion now I saw that in hockey but I never knew that existed in a home I never knew that a father could do that inside a home he ran that en entire house with Terror they were all afraid of them Bridget was absolutely petrified of them and that's what I was seeing that was the fakeness to it now he came across right as I'm a nice guy and everybody thought he was a great guy he put on a great image oh he's a great dad he's a hard worker all of these kinds of things but inside that home was just hell and they all lived with it so their nervous systems were a mess so if I said something to Bridget like no I don't like that just that calmly she would tear up and start to cry and she'd say why are you upset with me and I'd go what I'm not upset she' go yes you are you're getting upset with me and I said no I'm really not getting upset she wasn't wrong and I wasn't wrong as a child she had learned to listen so carefully to the way her father spoke so she could pick up when the danger was coming there was time to get out of the house or hide or get away so she would was listening very very closely so if at the end of the day my voice I had a little tension in my vocal cords right I'm not mad right but it changed the tonality of my voice she could hear that like I yelled at her and so she was right that's how she heard it I was right because I didn't say it that way and I thought how in the world is this happening I wasn't doing it so obviously I don't want to make her cry so I tried to be very intentional with the way I said things I tried to choose my words very carefully but it would take very little to activate her and she would go into a response and fear so she was just living in fear all the time and there was nothing I could do about it I couldn't fix it because that was the way her system had been adjusting to try to protect her ises that make some sense yeah yeah yeah I the thing running through my mind is how how do you how do you measure like how do you how would you track it on a daily basis you know like the and maybe it's as simple as the aura ring stress versus relax but if if there's something else if there's a check-in if there's a just she had Decades of this being her autopilot default mode of being stressed and uh hyper sensitive to things and so is there an easy uh objective way to be able to track it and say hey like you're you're way up here even though you may not feel it like for me when I'm talking to somebody I'm I'm wondering where I'm at now I'm talking to you I'm trying to be calm I'm excited how do I where am I right now I can't I can't even self assess it very well uh but I don't know if there is any kind of diagnostic or tool um to be able to know that oh I am I am into there's obviously moments we know you're upset bad news happened you're angry at somebody who cut you off or you can you know somebody yelled at you you lost a client you know you you know that you're in a upset mood but those hopefully are not happening all the time all the time but but we how much of our day is spent in the sympathetic versus parasympathetic mode and if something as casual as like doing this having an interview having a conversation you're stressing out or you know her example of just listening to you and your vocal codes change a little bit now she's already like you start to to feel the um her body is feeling even though she may not be logically connecting it right and maybe your process just eliminates it it does right it's like or how do we how do we keep track of it on a how do we know is there alert system is there a wearable is there well yeah you can see it like on things like the aura ring or even the Apple watch and things like that but the best way to to look at it is do you have a lot of emotions cuz I sat with a lady at one time at a conference and the person who was up speaking right she kept on breaking down and crying right and I said I notice you're crying a lot she goes yeah I'm a very emotional person I said yeah I noticed that she goes I've been emotional all my life and I said you've had a lot of trauma she goes yeah how would you know I've had a lot of trauma I says because you're emotional the emotions are coming from the trauma it's an activation so I'm going to explain how the emotions actually create that so that's what it was for Bridget so she was just living in that now she's high functioning so if you had met her you wouldn't have known it she was very good at covering that up in fact even when I first met her I couldn't tell that this family was having these issues right it wasn't because I was around so much they couldn't hide it anymore but if I just showed up periodically I probably would not have seen it I would have thought the dad was actually a good guy because he was very good at trying to put on that image and so but he couldn't covered up when it on a regular basis and that's what the family knew so that's what the fakeness was and so nothing I could do to fix it and change it I just had to be very careful how I said things and I was always trying to figure out how can I make it better but there was nothing I could do to make it better except help manage it which is not really the solution so like I said high functioning good person right we got married at 19 right couldn't wait to get her out of that house and so I was offered a contract to play hockey in Sweden and so we got married and then that was the whole idea behind it is that we would get her out of that house I thought that would fix the problem but it wasn't going to fix the problem because it was subconscious that was running below her conscious awareness and that I couldn't fix until I developed this you know as people go through your process and they heal themselves the next thing people want to do is go help the people in their life you know I mean it's like all these other people oh my God my husband my wife my kids my my parents my whatever colleagues Partners clients and obviously the best thing to do is go talk to Don and go through the process if they're unwilling if they're if they're close-minded um if you think about you know a lot of people's parents may not want to take advice from their kids on how to heal their trauma or whatever yep is there anything we can do uh just in our existence just in how we carry ourselves just in what we radiate that could be healing could be better for them even if they don't go through the process over themselves absolutely so even if you do the program right and and no one else in your family does it you're going to have a better regulating stabilizing effect on your family that was the advantage for Bridget is that I was a stabilizing effect for her that she'd never had before so I definitely helped her right but I didn't fix it and so she was just still living like with that constant fear and I was an entrepreneur right so I'm I'm the same as a lot of the people that you work with so if I was going to make a decision to do something in business right she would come up with a whole laundry list of everything could go wrong what about this and if you thought about that and what if that contract doesn't renew and what if that happens and that happens and I'd be like wow like how do you go down that many rabbit holes but that was how her mind was developed to protect her she had to think of every possible thing that could go wrong and so for her trying to be an entrepreneur with me was so stressful because I just you talked about the risks I'm the risk taker I'd run I go let's go let's do it right and so she'd be no I have to plan it I have to organize it was wasn't a bad combination her sort of slowing me up a little bit but she couldn't she'd get paralyzed I would run and so that fear I didn't have that fear but I hadn't been hurt like her if I had been hurt like her I would have been looking for the danger as well and that's what she was always doing didn't matter whether it was business or it was personal or whatever she was always in fear through everything she could come out of a store and say can you believe how rude that clerk was to me and I go she was rude how was she rude she go didn't you see the way she stuffed the clothes in the bag didn't you see the way she rolled her eyes or Shrugged her shoulders when I asked her a question I saw none of that because I didn't experience that way I wasn't filtering the way she was she was looking for every single sign that she was endanger imagine what that does to your system your nervous system is constantly in a sympathetic State that's going to wear it down and then that's going to show up in health reasons so the advantage for me is I've been healthy all my life and I played hockey 60 stitches in my head six concussions I never missed a hockey game they used to just say well you're just super healthy and you heal really fast right the reason I healed fast was because I got maximum maintenance done she wasn't getting maximum maintenance done and a lot of people aren't because too much energy is being drained the thing coming into my mind is how it show up in all sorts of weird random non-important things so uh my son and I will play Minecraft as an example and it's inconsequential doesn't have any impact on my life like I'm not a better or worth entrepreneur it's just just a game but when we're building uh you you have these blocks and you build castles and whatever else and he'll go off and he'll just start building stuff and it'll be these giant huge things that are awesome and uh all stress about like what am I going to going to build yeah and what's it going to look like and what's the plan going to be and where's the storage going to go and like try to create the plan uh and overthink yep and that I mean comes from somewhere that's coming from somewhere for sure I got to write all the should I write these down I got to remember these things we remember you're going to remember them okay I'm already okay I'm stressing out about this is no but this is really good but this is what we're trying to identify that's coming from somewhere and it's going to show up in Minecraft yeah exactly imagine what it's doing in other areas of your life when you can get that out of the way and it stops filtering through those that changes everything brings the system back into regulation yeah so that's Bridget's story right what I want to share with you now is Ashley she's our middle child so we had three children so Bridget's growing you know uh as we're in our marriage and we're going through our marriage right she's High performing she's not struggling you know in terms of anything except this fear all the time always living with this fear the thing that I noticed was she wasn't truly enjoying our success it didn't feel like she was really experiencing what I was experiencing because we were doing really well we had a beautiful home we had three beautiful children like everything seemed to be going really well but she was just like but what if this goes wrong and what happens if this goes wrong and are you worried about this and she was always asking me if I'm worried about all of these different different things and I wasn't because my attitude is if something goes wrong I'll fix it right and I'll just go with the flow but that was easy for me because that's how my life has has been led up to that point she couldn't do that so that was where that constant fear was coming in but I said she's high functioning so before we got married she had had some trauma that she had also dealt with and she wanted to share that with me and so she said before we get married I want to share with you my traumas you know as a child growing up because if that changes your mind and you don't want to marry me right I'll understand and I'm like oh no there's a big bombshell there's something big happening right so she shared to me some of the other things that she had dealt with in her life with some abuse and things like that and I was like oh okay you know I understand she goes does that make you feel differently about me at all and I said no you were a child so that wouldn't bother me at all that didn't make sense to her because she thought it would affect the way I thought about her with some of these experiences that she had had that's where a lot of that shame and guilt come in you know from those kinds of things earlier in life but it didn't bother me at all and so anyway what she said to me is okay then you have to promise me something now you'll never tell anybody what I shared with you and I was like but why she go because it'll bring shame on me or shame on my family and I don't want them to know about the dysfunction in my home and I'm like okay right so I kept that secret now everybody knows her story yeah heyy right there's there's no more she can stand up in front of a group and talk about it where before if you had asked her to talk to you about it right she couldn't do it she would just break down and cry because she wouldn't want to talk about it so that's why she didn't want to share it so many people are living their lives with that fear of anybody knowing what happened to them or sharing it that's why trauma stays so secret for so long and people don't want to share it especially sexual abuse things like that people don't want to come out with it that's why all my friends never talked about it right yeah but they were all dealing with it sexual abuse is the number one pandemic in this world number one it is so prevalent but people don't talk about it it's amazing just look at all the human trafficking that's going on children trafficking all of those kinds of things right it's massive problem but people don't talk about it and that will show up in health and physical and emotional health in the future so I mean me not having gone through any of that which again super blessed what what does that what does that translate into you're abused sexually abused as an 8-year-old or something or 4-year-old or 12-year-old does that translate to I'm not good enough or I'm I'm it could be could be a number of different things depending on how they experienced it so the person who abused them could have you know told them that you know they're they're useless right nobody loves them nobody will ever believe them you know there's all kinds of things it's it's really Sinister what these abusers do to these children and they make them so afraid so I it shows up all the time and especially when they're very young and they don't have enough life experience you know we know people right even in genius Joe polish has talked about his own abuse that happened to him look what happened to to the way he responded to that abuse that he dealt with it shows up somewhere and that's why a lot of people end up in addiction because they can't handle it and the mind is not okay with it and so what are they trying to numb with addiction they're trying to numb the pain so a lot of people say oh it's about getting high I say no I don't believe it's it's not I don't think it's a dopamine thing I think it's a pain thing so when I talk about addiction I say addiction is a code so the mind is dealing with this constant code this Loop of pain how does it fix the pain it numbs it so if every time I pick up a drink and the pain stops I solve the problem right so the more I do it and the more I repeat it then and my brain basically codes that is that's how I sto the pain so if you and I were shaking hands and I started shaking your hand so hard and squeezing it that I got you down to your knees right and then I said I'll let go but you got to take a sip of that drink and then I'll let go so I let go after you take a sip of the drink did you take a sip of the drink right because you wanted to feel good or you wanted to stop the pain right you wanted toop stop the pain the fact that you got a dopamine hit because the pain stopped wasn't the primary motive the primary motive was to stop the pain but then we start to shame them and say no they're just getting high they get this dopamine hit I don't believe it's a dopamine hit they were after I think it was the pain they were trying to stop and the subconscious mind wants the pain to stop now because your subconscious operates in the present and then how does shame show up in now in adult day-to-day life espe an addiction for example addiction or uh I mean addiction is then what ends up happening but the cause is the in this case the sexual abuse right if they're ashamed of it of what happened again some experience happened they don't have life they don't have life experience though so they're interpreting completely different like the brush the grandmother on the head kind of thing so if they're ashamed of it you can't tell anybody then where is that where does shame show up as an adult and how does it impact them well the purpose of that emotion of Shame is to get something to be done so shame is a an emotion to get an action so it's like don't let it happen don't let anybody know about it especially when a child is growing up the the perpetrator will be saying things like your parents will think you're disgusting if they knew what you were doing with me right if they understood what you just did they would say that to the kids oh yeah okay right you know you're a terrible human being that you did that I can't believe that you would do that like they will shame that child right even though that they were doing it to the child then the child believes that every nobody will love there's no way your mother's going to love you if she knew that you just did that with me right and so now the child's like I can't let my mother know so which leads me to my daughter and what happened with my daughter so that's my daughter Ashley she's our middle child an actress started acting this is her from even when she was young when she was acting very very talented happy child everything looked really good but she was constantly having ear infections throat infections right we just didn't know you know where it was all coming from and then when she's 14 she's diagnosed with crohn's and so when she got the diagnosis of Crohn's they said we don't know what causes Crohn's there's no cure for Crohn's we don't even know why she got the Crohn's but she's going to have to manage this for the rest of her life she will have Crohn's for the rest of her life and so it was like started doing research trying to figure out where did it come from they said take her off a gluten take her off a dairy so Crohn's is an autoimmune disorder and so she ended up really struggling so she had four different operations they took out 24 inches of her intestines over four yeah really horrible really struggled and so again she's acting she's out in La she's doing things and but the Crohn's would constantly be taking her down so then we get a call saying she's been rushed to the hospital she started coughing up blood and they said they put her in ICU for three and a half weeks and came back and said she has idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis which is another autoimmune disorder where the iron in the blood gets released the immune system dumps the iron and so they said there's no cure for it we don't know what causes it this is other another autoimmune she's going to have to manage this for the rest of her life she should live close to a hospital because her lungs could fill up in 15 minutes so that's when Bridget said to me this must be your fault this must be a genetic thing because we don't have this on my side of the family right we finally got something on your side of the family you need to figure this out or we're going to lose our daughter because that was a potential five-year death sentence and so that sent me back into research and so I started going back getting my PhD and research to try to figure out how do we save our daughter because they're telling us there is no answer it's just a management thing for the rest of her life and so what we didn't know and our daughter disclosed to us was that she had had sexual abuse when she was six that we were completely unaware of devastated Bridget because she said I thought I could protect my child how did this happen on my wife much right I thought she was totally protected so there that's where the Sinister nature of abuse comes in it's everywhere even in a family like ours we couldn't protect it even though we were so Vigilant on it trying to protect it so that trauma was the cause of it that's what I discovered when there's traumas especially abuse sexual physical emotional abuse what I discovered through my research as I started to research is that this unresolved trauma that she had been living with since she was six and she's now in her 20s right or 14 with the Crohn's and then almost in her 20s that unresolved trauma creates inflammation inflammation compromises the immune system compromises the neurotransmitters so her immune system was compromised because the inflammation which is really what Crohn's is the intestinal tract becomes so inflamed no food can get through so she wouldn't be able to eat she'd go down to like 90 PBS and so they'd have to use steroids to try to bring the swelling down so she could get food through and then they'd have to go in and cut out the pieces that died and then resure them back together so Crohn's a lot of people doing with crohn's are in my estimation most of these cases are coming from this unresolved trauma that creates that inflammation very different way of looking at it the advantage for me I think I didn't come in to learn how to be a traditional therapist I came in as an entrepreneur looking for a solution if you want to solve a problem send an entrepreneur and to figure out how to solve a problem I had a mission to solve a problem was to save my daughter so I didn't care what they were telling me we needed to do I was saying I don't think they know what to do I don't think they understand it and so it was really coming down to this unresolved trauma created the inflammation which is what the Crohn's was they put her on steroids they had her on anti-anxiety medications because her neurotransmitters are compromised they had her on anti-depressants boatloads of those and boatloads of steroids that was the only way they could deal with it and so and so she took 24 inches of her intestines out over that period of time and they said eventually she'll end up with a colostomy bag so in discovering that the trauma was the root of it I kept meeting and talking to all these different people people who were having autoimmune disorders who also were dealing with abuse could be emotional abuse or sexual abuse but a lot of that was the connection and if it's not treated and currently what they do is if you've had sexual abuse or physical abuse or trauma as a child you'll be in traditional therapy for years to talk about it but that's not fixing it so you said in discovering that trauma was the cause how did you discover the trauma was the cause she told us So eventually because as I was looking for answers right I started we started to ask her what's gone on in your life is anything gone on and then she disclosed to us that when she was six this is what happened to her okay luckily for us she told us with with a lot of people though they they may not have hidden it they may have experienced it they may be known uh the parents might find out that something happened but there's that extra step though to say oh that's the Cause right like that's a that's a weird of thinking about it that you have cron oh it connects to when six you were 6 years old somebody sexually abused you yep right so like how do you how did you make that link where most people don't I think it was just because of all the research I was doing I kept meeting more and more people are having the same issues right and we're having the same kind of physical issues it shows up somewhere in the body I believe it goes to the weakest genetic link in the body that's the genetic component to it so for Ashley her genetic track was where the inflammation showed up everybody goes inflammation is the problem inflammation isn't the problem it's chronic inflammation that's the problem inflammation is designed to protect the system so the cells go into a cell danger response the purpose of the cell danger response is so if you start punching me in the arm my arm's going to swell up the purpose of that is to protect the system from anything penetrating the cell while it's under attack so the cells become hardened and inflamed nothing gets into the cell but nothing gets out of the cell so it's a temporary pause until the danger is over when the danger is over then the inflammation comes down the problem for Ashley and the problem for most people with trauma is the inflammation doesn't come down because the trauma is still running in the subconscious without them knowing it that's what it was for Ashley that's what it was for most of these people so how I know that this was the case in in Ashley's case is after I developed this program which is what we're going to go through here today she has no more Crohns she has no lung disorder they're both gone now they would tell you that's impossible you can't fix it right psychologically but it was psychological 80% of the unknown illnesses that we're dealing with they now believe are psychological IAL not physical they show up as physical right but they're actually psychological and it's going to show up in IBS Crohn's colitis all kinds of different things even I believe it's going all the way into cancer and other things because the system doesn't have the maximum amount of power to heal itself and then something's going to get affected so she ended up with a cyst forming on her ovary a few years ago and the cyst was what we now realize is the overuse of steroids creates polycystic ovarian syndrome which is that's where the cyst showed up so they removed the cyst in the ovary and the doctor came in after the operation and he goes well I'm confused because your chart says you have Crohn's she goes yeah I have Crohn's and he goes well I operated there's no evidence you have Crohn's she goes no I haven't had a flare up in a long time and he goes but you're not on medication for crones she goes no I don't take any more medication he goes well I hate to tell you this you were misdiagnosed you never had Crohn's she goes no I've had Crohn's I've had four resections done I've gone down to 90 lbs he goes well Crohn's doesn't go away it's either active or suppressed by medication that's the current model what he didn't understand I explained to him that I believe the psychological was creating the Crohn's and when we resolve the psychological the Crohn's went away he goes That's Impossible if that was true you'd have a Nobel Prize I says then you tell me what Crohn's is he goes Crohn's is a lifelong disease with no cure I said I disagree Crohn's is just inflammation and once we resolve the trauma we resolve the inflammation then the system goes back into operation so that's what I found and that's what we're seeing in a lot of different people who come through the program is a lot of the physical stuff also starts to heal so you going for a Nobel Prize there you go that's it is it going to happen the DNA study we're doing right I think could absolutely prove that that we can actually show that the genetics are actually changing when you resolve the trauma and I'm going to talk a little bit more about that in a bit about how we can actually change the genetic expression which will then change the physical system so what I'm going to talk about now is one of the things that I looked at there was a big study called the aces study which is adverse childhood experiences the CDC and Kaiser Permanente surveyed 177,000 people in the study that looked at childhood trauma adverse childhood experiences they call them Aces and made a direct connection between Aces and physical and emotional health so there's no question there's a direct line between it so these adverse childhood experiences whether it's wartime you know even people from the Holocaust all the way to current Wars that are going on will show up in their system at some point if it's unresolved it could be abuse physical sexual emotional abuse so here's what ends up showing up there's a direct connection there is a two and a half times higher risk for hepatitis COPD you've got four and a half times higher risk of depression you're going to have three and a half times higher risk of heart disease and then uh a much higher incidence of attempts at suicide all because of this unresolved trauma that keeps on running and looping through the system that's going to then show up in all kinds of other things so alcoholism if somebody's had no Aces for example like that was me I grew up without there's a 3% chance I could become alcoholic or drug addicted that could just be I'm hanging out with certain people and I get involved in a lifestyle right but if I haven't had any Aces the chances of me becoming alcoholic or drug addicted are very low but if I've had four or more Aces it goes up to 16% so there's a direct connection between drug and alcohol abuse and these Aces I'm surprised it's not even higher yeah well I think that is probably low a low estimation it's probably much higher than that but those are people who are self admitting right that they've had these issues but it's going to show up in depression so if you look at women 18% of women can become depressed even without right any kind of trauma but that's physical right that could be hormonal right it'll show up so they can get and Anis is is more of the Big T trauma well we're talking about physical abuse sexual abuse could be neglect right could be uh poverty living in poverty you know scarcity all of those kinds of things are what fall into Aces so any of those kinds of things would be considered an Ace and the more Aces you have the higher incidence of health issues that you have so an absolute direct correlation between it and look at the number of people if you've had four or more Aces 98% of those people are going to be prescribed anti-depressants it's crazy how many people are on anti-depressants and it's all because of this unresolved trauma so the overuse of medication is obvious now I'm not saying the medication can help in some situations I'm not saying it's a bad thing but it shouldn't be a lifestyle it shouldn't be for the rest of their lives I mean a lot of people I meet have been on anti-depressants for 15 20 years that's not really what it's supposed to be so I have a very different look at depression I say depression is basically a symptom how does an anti-depressant how does it work like your medication what does it actually do in the body it's basically just numbing it's numbing the system down so it stops the process of basically the trauma Loop what is it actually shutting off I I I don't know I've never even thought about it but what is it it's just is this desensitizing dulling the brain so the brain doesn't think think so you just sort of go into a flat depression is basically a flat right so what I say depression is actually the symptom of the problem it's not the problem so depression is the mind is shutting down and so if somebody can't shut their mind down right the medication will shut it down so it's basically just stopping the communication do you know what mechanism it uses like does it is it shutting up blood flow or oxygen or no it's just basically the ner neurotransmitters the chemicals in the brain it's actually changing and altering the chemical paths because the brain is just a chemical uh device and so it's basically you know serotonin dopamine all of those things if you're not constantly running those neurotransmitters and those uh that process then your system can go into a shutdown into a depression and so why would the mind go into a depressed state I believe the mind goes into a depressed state for a reason it's not actually trying to hurt you so they're saying that depression is basically a serotonin issue so you're not getting enough serotonin but now they're realizing that that may not be the case at all may not be a a chemical issue may not be a serotonin issue and that's really what the uh anti-depressants are trying to do is Alter the serotonin balance in the brain and so it turns it on and then stops it from overloading right but that's not really what it should be doing the reason the mind I believe goes into a depressed state is to protect the system is not to hurt you but is actually to shut it down because the pain is overwhelming the person can't handle the pain so how does it protect you shuts down so I believe it's actually a a a function of the brain not a dysfunction of the brain very different way of looking at it yeah right so but anyway so those are the uh Aces and what happens so for me the key was once I found the problem and understood the problem then started to research the problem that's how I came up with the whole program we just need to reboot the system we need a reset and that's what I figured out how to do and we can reset the system and I'm going to explain how the trauma actually works on the system okay so what I'm going to talk to you about is when I started to research it I looked at the animal mind and the human mind and there's some similarities between the way the animal mind works and the way the human mind works but humans have two very unique differences do you have any pets do you have a dog yeah a couple dogs what's your dog's name uh Teemo Teemo that's the first dog okay so Teemo is a he right yeah yeah is 100% present in the moment all the time right everything for Teo is now so animals live in the moment so if you read all these self-help books they tell you be present be in the moment right it's the key to success and happiness which is true and that's how animals work they're always in the present humans have two very unique features that no other animal has and that is what's affecting and creating these glitches and AR messages so animals are 100% present in the moment everything is subconscious all that software that's running for them is running on a subconscious level they're not thinking about heart rate digestion any of those kinds of things that's all running on a subconscious basis they don't think they just respond to their environment so whatever is happening they respond to a their environment and that's all the programs that are running for them right so they fight or flight and sympathetic parasympathetic are all running for them below any kind of a conscious awareness they have no conscious awareness they're just 100% subconscious humans 95% of our mind works just like the animal mind it's subconscious survival-based running programs so 95% of your mind works like teemos right survival-based running all the programs below any conscious awareness you don't have to think about any of of those things the amount of organization that your system runs on a day-to-day basis is phenomenal and you don't have to think about any of it it's all run for you so that's that 95% subconscious we have two unique features the first one is the 5% that's our reasonable logical frontal lobe that's our intellect that's our ability to think we can think of things we can imagine things we can create things if Teemo doesn't know how to do something he's not trying to figure out how to make his life better he can either do it or he can't and so he's just operating in the moment with whatever is happening humans though we have this 5% logical reasonable intellectual part of our mind that has created the world we live in computers automobiles airplanes we didn't know how to do it we figured out a way to do it but it is not in charge of survival the 95% subconscious is in charge of survival and it's operating all the programs so if for example of a wolf if a wolf is walking and looking for something to eat and a bird flies overhead the wolf is not capable of thinking I wish I could fly right because he can't fly he can't imagine flying so he would just continue to walk and look for a rabbit or something that was possible now humans we can't fly but we could imagine flying we can even create a way to fly and we can create a tool to shoot that bird down and eat that's what separates us from the animal world we can do things that we could never do before and we can improve our lives over and over so that 5% is brilliant but it is not in charge of any survival threats it's only in charge of anything logical and reasonable right that we can think about but if there's a threat right there's no logic and reason involved at all it all goes to survival make sense yeah yeah the only thing I'm thinking is what what happens when dogs are dreaming so they're going to still process but they're not thinking about improving anything so they may be just experiencing this what I'll get into the next part which is memory yeah so animals have one memory system humans have two memory systems so the memory system that animals have is associative repetitive memory so if you want to teach Teemo how to do something you repeat it over and over and over what Teo building is a code that's the coding part of the brain so the more you repeat it it's actually literally building a code on how to do it without thinking about it right it's how we learn how to ride a bike play a guitar anything like that the more you repeat it the more you're coding it which is what I say addiction is too addiction becomes a code and so then the mind just operates the code without even thinking about it there's no thinking in addiction it's all about process so the the memory system that codes is associative repetitive so the more Teemo sees something the more he understands it so he doesn't remember any of the details of the events and experiences but he's built an association so the more he sees you he realizes that he's safe he's going to be fed he's going to be loved right he's developed an association that it's a good thing to see you y right but he hasn't stored the details now humans we have that memory system but we have a second memory system we have the ability to store billions of bits of information everything you've ever seen heard touched or smelt in your lifetime has been stored and record recorded in this explicit memory system so can you see where a glitch is going to show up if 95% of your mind is operating in the moment and it activates a memory from 20 years ago and it sees that memory in real time when does you think the memory is happening yeah now y so if I asked you what you ate for dinner last night can you tell me what you ate for dinner uh airport lounge coming here to Florida what do we eat for dinner we had uh chicken and rice and cauliflower and chickpeas and let's go with that okay so when I asked you that if you were watching on the camera you'll see you looked up right and you saw pictures right of what you ate maybe where you were when you ate it in the airport I started yeah yep so you that's how you stored the information about dinner last night no animal does that only humans Teemo has not stored any details that's why you can feed him the same thing every day because he doesn't remember eating that yesterday right this is just a new meal right humans however we store all of that but last night wasn't threatening or disturbing so it stored as a fairly low resolution file had that been a traumatic event all your senses are heightened sight smell hearing so how's it going to record that high defa just like these cameras it's recording tremendous amounts of detail in that memory because there's so much activity coming in because of the way the mind is interpreting the situation so now you've got this high definition memory being stored in this explicit memory system stored in a system that operates in the present so now when something comes in from 20 years ago that your mind starts looking at that memory it sees it in real time what's it going to do activate your nervous system so like freak out but yeah activate your nervous system yeah it has to yeah right it's not choosing to do it that's why I say there's nothing wrong with anybody when they come in and they tell me I've got anxiety I've got whatever I'm saying of course you would that's just how your system works it has to do it it has to act activate your nervous system because it's not a choice it's not a um a situation where you're saying well I know this is what's happening logically I know that I'm not in danger there's no logic and reason it happens instantly it's programming it's programming right and you can't stop it so when I would say to Bridget no I don't like that I thought she was responding to me she wasn't responding to me she thought she was responding to me I thought she was responding to to me when I said no I don't like that and she heard that little change in my vocal tone her mind would bring in a flood of data about her father and there's where her nervous system would go into a complete breakdown so she was crying not because of what I said was because of all the data that was running through and her mind was saying we're in danger we need to run we need to do something even though there's no way she's in any danger but she doesn't know that because subconsciously her mind is looking at that data Hollywood's made trillions of dollars from this they can convince us in a movie theater that what's on that screen is real our mind can't tell the difference between real or imagined now with VR and with VR right that is real so that will activate your nervous system and it has to so that's why there's nothing wrong with anybody all we have to do and what we're going to do here today and I and this is what I do through the whole program program we're going to take two or three of those high definition events we're going to get your mind to reprocess them into the same form as to what you ate for dinner last night we're going to take the intensity out of it now your mind can describe it and look at it and not activate it's just data now but until you do that your system can't do anything but respond to it that's why I couldn't fix it didn't matter what I tried to do to make Bridget feel safe I couldn't get her there because the system was still running so anytime you have an emotion a feeling or a sensation your mind is calling for an action the purpose of fear is to escape the purpose of anger is to attack so if you think about something that happened to you 10 years ago and your heart starts pounding in your chest what does your mind think you need to do run but do you need to run no there's nothing happening but your mind doesn't know that cuz it's looking at that data in real time in high definition so that's why I say the way to determine whether or not something's still active is to determine whether or not there's an emotion if there's an emotion your mind is still calling you into an action but an action that isn't possible that's post-traumatic stress so in somebody has post-traumatic stress what they're actually experiencing is the event in real time and then that activates a stress response so we need to go back and remove the emotion from The Experience actually move the intensity of it so the high definition of it so if we take it from that high definition into a low definition like what you ate for dinner last night right we're literally just taking the intensity out of it and so after we go through the process what you'll find is you can remember the event but it doesn't seem to have the same intensity okay right so I worked with a US Army sniper he had to shoot and kill a 12-year-old boy when I first sat down with him he just was sobbing he says I can't talk about this anymore he goes I got arrested at the VA because I started throwing tables and chairs they kept asking me to talk about it I said well the good news I'm not going to ask you to talk about it we're going to fix it he said I don't have to talk about it I said no I don't need you to talk about it at all we just got to reset that data and I'll show you how we're going to do that by the time we were finished he gave me a complete description of what happened that day right without shaking and crying and he goes now how the bleep did you do this how am I able to talk about it now and I'm not shaking and crying and I said because for eight years your mind's been trying to get you not to pull the trigger it saw you pulling the trigger in real time and it was trying to get you to stop but you couldn't stop because it didn't exist and so until that point nobody had ever explained that to him so there's nothing wrong with him if his mind is saying don't shoot don't shoot don't shoot can he not shoot no it's it's over his mind doesn't know that though so you can see where depression comes in what I talk about depression is the absence of emotions so if your mind has been trying to get you angry to stop something from doing something and it keeps calling you into an action and you don't answer the action call how does your mind protect you stops using the emotion and we call that depression and so then what we do is we medicate them right so what we're really doing is medicating them from thinking about and stopping the process of reaching that memory but that's not the answer the answer is to take the intensity out of the memory so that you can recall the memory without activating your nervous system it's really that simple so we're doing the opposite of what they did with the Wizard of Oz it was shot in black and white they colorized it we're taking it from color back to black and white there you go right and it's that simple so that's what we're going to show you how to do today great memory and imagine threats are seen in real time when I was doing the research I found something called the time slice Theory and the time slice theory was I remember seeing it in a research article I remember highlighting it because I thought that sounds really interesting I went back to do more research on it the time slice theory was developed by two scientists at the University of Zurich that said is conscious ious streaming this is what you were been talking about you want to get things to the conscious mind is a Consciousness a streaming process it's not your subconscious is streaming your conscious mind is getting the information 400 millionth of a second after so your subconscious processes it and then sends pieces or time slices to your conscious mind because your conscious mind cannot handle that much detail but your subconscious can handle a lot of detail so when I saw that I said this makes perfect sense why this is actually happening so I've got a little animation here that we'll listen to okay right that'll talk about how the time slice Theory Works what is consciousness is it streaming not according to a professor and neuroscientists at the University of Zurich they developed the time slice Theory and we use it at the inspired performance Institute to help people stay present and focused according to the time slice Theory your subconscious mind is viewing all incoming data and presenting a fraction of this data in time slices to the conscious mind with only a 400 millisecond gap between the slices the slices look like clips from a movie reel so your subconscious mind is viewing then slicing only specific data into pieces and sending it in time slices now here's how our tip program explains the theory as it is processing the the time slices it is also doing a Google search from memory does this data look familiar does it look like any threats we've experienced if it does then it starts to pull in old high res traumatic images stored in memory from previous experiences since a subconscious operates in the present it believes the images pulled from memory are happening now then the subconscious begins to prepare the body for fight or flight however nothing is happening the sub conscious is viewing old data images and the intensity and brightness makes it look real and sees it like it's happening now now you know why you've been experiencing these emotions when nothing is actually happening and there it is so that's what it was for Bridget I'd say no I don't like that her mind would do a Google search what do we know about men who start to sound like that and then a flood of data about her dad all the experiences she'd had with her dad about being hurt would come flooding then activate her nervous system she start to cry she thought she was crying because of what I said I thought she was crying because of what I said had nothing to do with that imagine an entrepreneur or a couple a husband and wife understanding that and how much it could change their relationships with the people that they deal with what's interesting is the um the things that coming to mind now is the the protective nature of the habit mhm the the programming the training whatever we want to call it uh and it's still it's hard to eliminate I I would think yes because of the previous programming but it also still does serve a purpose yep right that's like if if she is recognizing the vocal tones and stressing out uh 75% of the time whatever the number is it may be a complete fabrication or just not even close but there still the 25% where it's like oh no it's like it it is getting maybe not to the extreme of her father but it is getting right and so it's still protective yeah so how do we so what we're looking for is to stop the disregulation of the nervous system so having that experience is not a bad thing so maybe she can recognize that maybe this is a little bit you know unusual I should be a little bit on guard but she's not going to be not functioning at her highest Lev she'll be able to take that information and use it appropriately without her going into fear mode because when she's in fear mode she's not going to be in as good a place as she would be if she just sort of recognized hm this sounds a little bit off I should maybe just watch a little bit more intently here but it's not going to have her in fear does the fear mode in acute scenarios not serve if it's yes if it's a real threat right then you want it so it's not wrong to have fear if the fear is appropriate to the situation if a real lion shows up you want to feel fear that's absolutely appropriate what you don't want to do is have fear of a lion that doesn't exist right that's where the disregulation comes in that's what we stop is that part of why it's hard to let it go because in it's not only what happened and I'm just speaking out loud so you can tell me if I'm wrong that's not only what happened in the past but it's still in 5% of scenarios still real if it is still real then it makes sense to have the emotion if it's not real it makes no sense to have the emotion right but it's a delineation between those to right right so it's the Habit persists because it still serves if it's appropriate right well but yeah right but but there are still scenarios where it can be appropriate it is still serving Y and so that reinforces The Habit in all scenarios even though possibly but what we're going to do is we're going to eliminate that highdef data from activating it for no reason right right let's look at it this way a zebra cannot feel fear of a lion unless there's a lion present right yeah that's the way we should be we should not feel fear of a lion unless there's a lion present the fact that there we think about a lion should not activate our nervous system the think the fact that somebody reminds us about the lion that chased us you know six years ago should not activate our nervous system it should just be information but if that lion shows up then it makes perfect sense yeah that's all we're really doing is creating that divide between real and imagined right real and memory so real makes sense to have that emotion memory doesn't make any sense to have that emotion because it's going to dis regulate your nervous system and it's going to affect your performance I'll give you a great example I worked with a professional baseball player and in his rookie year he got in he got put into a pinch hitting situation that the coach basically you know puts his arm around him says all right I'm put you in Runners at first and third don't pop up right drive the run in he popped up yeah he says every single time he gets into first and third in an exhibition game he will feel scared because he let his coach down right that's what we want to eliminate right right because it's not the same situation and that affects your performance does that yeah it makes sense it's just it's interesting to see how uh the fact that even in whatever small percentage of scenarios that it actually serves you your brain can trick you to feel like you need it in all scenarios right but you really don't yeah yep but once we get the high definition taken out of that memory right then we can then turn it off yeah it's like even the clock even a broken clock is right yeah two times a day right right it's kind of the same thing like even that in animation where the boss you're always freaking you're always scared the boss is going to come and yell at you even that nice boss in 2% of scenarios might come and still yell at you and it's like positive validation that you should still always be afraid even though it doesn't make sense there's no lying yep yeah yep so that's all we're really trying to do is stop the disregulation because that's going to change the whole system and starts to break down the system and and wears you out you shouldn't be in a sympathetic response your sympathetic response is an emergency management system right right but for most people it's an operating system right it's not supposed to be operating that's a great way to put it right and so we want to keep it in the emergency situation right and then when there's no emergency you stay in parasympathetic rest and digest and it's like oh yeah I know what that is I know how to handle that and there's where the best athletes I I like using athletes because it's really easy to use the best athletes don't carry that scar tissue from one event to the next event otherwise they'll get paralyzed and all of a sudden they can't throw the ball because now their their mind is looping through this old data yeah and like in gymnastics when you fall off the horse it's like right get back on the horse right away so there's no yep yep so that you you got to build new muscle memory and at the same time get that particular event out of the way yeah so uh again like I said I work with a lot of athletes and that's one of the things I worked with one guy who's a sprinter and uh in the 400 meter at a particular turn that he ran at he tore his uh his muscle his thigh muscle and so every time he gets to that point right and he has to plant that foot down right in his mind he says he knows he lets up so weird how the mind works I was going to say brain but it's not the brain it's the mind the Mind y you're teaching me I'm remembering Don we got it perfect but here's a guy who's a an Olympic Athlete yeah right and it saying to me when I get to that point I know it's coming he say I can feel it and I feel myself just ease up a little bit right and that's the difference between first and third at that level you don't want to do that you want to stay present in the moment right without any fear so we took a a little break a little washing break and I I took a quick peek at my Ura ring so the Ura tracks all sorts of different things and we took a look at my stress and normally around this time I'm in like the high stress category even if I don't feel stress because I'm just working and here we're working and I I when we first started filming I almost hit the stress mark But then quickly uh I'm into restored time so it goes stressed engaged relax restored according to or ring and I'm hit like almost the lowest of restore time uh which never happens we got data to back it up just by sitting here talking to you and we haven't even really yeah done the thing yet so this is uh it's going to get even better I'm excited it's working already and and that's what I was talking about is that's the science behind it is because once you understand how the system works and the whole thing is we're really communicating with the subconscious Part of Your Mind through everything that I'm doing is communicating with that part of the brain and it's calming it down I couldn't say that I feel different but I I am like consciously I don't feel different so right so I'm listening to you we're having a conversation I'm thinking about ideas and thoughts where I'm going to go next and like what you're saying how it relates to my life and what about this I'm interrupting you in your presentation and like we're having conversations it feels like a normal day yeah but the but the day is clearly saying it's not a normal day right so we haven't even done anything yet at least that I know of I mean we haven't gone through your formal exercise we're just educating and learning so what what is different that's already happened is it just your energy is it it's is the energy and I'm going to explain the different brain waves okay so this is what we're going to do and this is what so are you you manipulating my brain waves already and the fast just the way I talk okay just the way I talk and the PAC SC and everything which which is what I learned okay right and not only that is once you start understanding how the brain works it does bring about a sense of calm it's like especially people who have had a lot of you know trauma in their life they start to go this is fixable I don't have to live like this for the rest of my life you know I had one guy a guy from you know genius Network 45 years of panic attacks gone after 45 years one of the guys that works with us Kirk right had 30 years of panic attacks they're gone they never thought that was possible because nobody ever told them it was possible all you have to do is get the nervous system to come into regulation how do you do that stop the activation so what are you doing with your V I'm just curious because I was shocked as we as I went to the bathroom and looked at the data I'm basically asleep yeah like in terms of my restorative time yeah my uring thinks I am asleep yeah in terms of my my ability to rejuvenate right now so and we haven't done anything so like so let me give you the science behind it you're going to love that but I'm going to not only teach you to do this just now but continue to do it so you'll learn how to do this on your own and then this just becomes normal to live like this because remember what I said earlier on is that for me that was normal to live like that right that was way it's supposed to be I'd lived my whole life that was the model right this is the model that you can live in imagine living your life in this model right you can do it absolutely every are you doing something with your voice or well it's just again it's my voice but it's the pacing and it's the timing and it's just the voice okay right like you've you've engineered this over years or this is just yeah it just basically the way I I do it and I've sort of practiced it and learned it that's why it's very hard to teach this so what I do is allow people to go through an online version of it but it's me doing just exactly this okay because if you had asked me I said no this is normal yeah y but my body is actually responding in a way that I'm not consciously aware of yep that's what it does so let me give you the science behind it right so you can see what happens is if you live in this kind of a state in this kind of a model your your health has got to improve right right and so there's where all of the diseases and everything stop showing up because then the system goes into a healing mode why have I been healthy all my life because my system lived here this is normal for me so so I don't get into a highly active State very often I can right but then I come back into regulation so I come back into parasympathetic so I live in parasympathetic where a lot of people live in sympathetic which is what Bridget was doing right me too so this is what actually happened the Vegas nerve you've heard of the Vegas nerve yes uh so when I fainted the advice was I need to do vagal nerve toning uh and my a faint was a uh vasil vagel something incident I I don't remember what they called it vasil vagel synop yeah yeah that's a scientific word basically I fainted where like not enough oxygen went to my brain and then it shut off and I I passed out right and so they said well you got to the the the the guidance was uh do gargling and do uh chanting and singing loudly and whatever that all these things supposedly train or tone the Vegas nerve but I'm I got a better way I I'm I'm I'm hoping for it let's go so the Vegas nerve I just want to sort of talk to you about what it is right because it's a big part and I we work with an organization that trains worldclass athletes all the time they measure them constantly they measure vagal tone is the thing that they measured and what I talked about is that when you have trauma unresolve trauma that trauma Loop is running it's constantly activating the nervous system and so that affects the mitochondria which is the energy of your cells so all your cells have mitochondria and it's energy so when you've got this trauma Loop running it's pulling energy when we calm that down it allows that energy to free up so the mitochondria when I was talking to this company that trains these athletes I took them through that the one guy stopped me and he said you just blew my mind he says we work with these worldclass athletes physically fit fit guys the top of the top in their field he says we never understood why they would go into a sympathetic nervous system response when they were at rest their vagal tone would change even at rest you're telling me the trauma Loop is what's doing it I said yeah he goes that makes perfect sense they never understood it they was like why are these guys going into a sympathetic nervous system response when they're just resting it's because the trauma is still running so if you don't get that trauma reset it's going to affect even the highest performing athletes in the world and everybody else so imagine the average people who aren't training their system as well as these guys are so we can all train our system to do it I trained it automatically without knowing it living in the home I grew up in yeah never having any fear of my father or my mother or my home always living in that feeling of safety when I talk to parents I say the most important thing you can do for your child is to make your home safe because if their home is safe they're going to be healthy for most of their life they will deal with things really really well but if they don't have safety in their home they don't learn how to regulate their nervous system and so they'll constantly be in a state of stress you don't want that I just never did that's why I've been healthy so I'm going to show you a little bit more so I'm going to show you the Vegas nerve and how the Vegas nerve works our minds process incoming information through our senses one of two things will happen in milliseconds this information will be seen as safe or as a threat this is accomplished through our autonomic nervous system which will Engage The Vegas nerve the cranial nerve stretches from the brain stem down to the stomach this is helpful in understanding the Mind Body Connection the vagus nerve has two response pathways the dorsal pathway and the ventral pathway the dorsal pathway responds to incoming information interpreted as a threat it may prompt a fight or flight response the sympathetic response or a freeze response consistent activation of the dorsal pathway will cause inflammation which is the body's response to trauma and threats inflammation compromises the immune system and neurotransmitters by activating creting a cell danger response that affects physical and mental health now the ventral pathway responds to incoming information interprets it as safe and supports feelings of calm and relaxed if a current situation is perceived as a threat it makes sense for autonomic nervous system to respond however here's the potential glitch when our minds have a thought or perhaps something looks similar to a traumatic experience the Mind accesses memory the memory information is viewed in real time and will activate the Vegas nerve response even though it's just information that's because traumatic or disturbing events in our life are stored in high resolution our minds record this information in memory and stores it in high resolution files because all our senses are heightened during the event if this information in memory is consistently activating our fight ORF flight response then it becomes difficult to learn communicate focus and perform does that sound familiar The Inspired performance Institute has a solution tip our program tip will help you reprocess the high resolution information stored in memory into a simpler low resolution file and this information will no longer activate the dorsal vehicle pathway response as you continue to use the new tools provided through tip the ventral pathway of the Vegas nerve is stimulated signals are sent to our nervous system telling it to relax with relaxation all brain and body functions improve the 28 days of tip audios help to form new neural pathways through repeated activities through this brain stimulation we exercise neurons involved in our ventral V Al and sensory networks they become more active and recruit other neurons over time we are creating new habits of brain activity health and performance improve and there it is so that's really what it is is the the vagus nerve is constantly being activated by memory and so then it goes into that flight response which is then going to wear down the system so once we clear up the loop the trauma Loop Loop now it will get activated if there's a lion but if there's no lion it's not going to get activated the number of lies in your lifetime are not going to be that often so it's normal response then we train your mind to stay in parasympathetic and so the more you train it then your mind then learns to do it and that's what my mind had been learning since I was a child is to come back I could get bumped I could come back from school after a teacher yelled at me or something happened to school that day but I immediately felt safe and came back into parasympathetic system rest and digest what does it mean like parasympathetic it took me it took me a long time to I just had to memorize it right like sympathetic means you're stressed parasympathetic means that you're relaxed and recovering right so I just had to memorize it because I I kept confusing it too what does it actually mean like what does parasympathetic mean well it's just basically going into the opposite so it's sympathetic is a response so it's a sympathetic response there's a threat right parasympathetic means no threat okay parasympathetic so sympathetic means threat threat yeah okay so you're going to go into a threat response there's a sympathetic response okay your mind has to take an action and perah is opposite opposite in like Latin or I guess I don't know I just know it's par parasympathetic so I learned that too sympathetic make it easier right we got to make the science easier that's hard to remember parasympathetic and what that means i' I've I've talked about it enough that I I just just I memorize it so it means something yeah but just like when you said the what was the condition that your daughter had Crohn's not Crohn's but like the crazy long one oh uh idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis yeah it's like how many times did you have to get that test so you memorize it right well idiopathic means we don't know what caus it that's what so whenever anything comes in if somebody says they have an idiopathic uh diagnosis it means that the medical community doesn't know what it is paed it I think part of the challenge and part of what I like doing these interviews is it's confusing the words are big and they don't make sense and so people just stop learning it because it's too complicated yeah so you have to learn an entire new language like parasympathetic sympathetic so it's great to to have you on to kind of make it easier to understand well that's I think what this success of the program is I take a lot of the mystery out of it right so I simplify it I make it a lot easier to understand that's why I say there's nothing wrong with you if you have memory that's running it's going to activate your nervous system has to yeah right and so what is wrong with you nothing right all we have to do is reset the memory which is what we did for my wife Bridget we did for Ashley I've done for you know thousands of people is reset the memory system and you fix the problem it's really that simple and so we can do that for everybody the key to it is what we're going to learn next okay right so if you're constantly in this activation highly sensitive people are hypervigilant they're constantly because they've been traumatized which is what Bridget was she was always in this hyper Vigilant state they're very sensitive to sound particularly sound like I said she could hear the tone you could have paid me to hear me with and without that tone I wouldn't have heard it I would I would have said that sounds exactly the same to me which it did but to her it was like this it was that much difference when I'm not so she was very on even though I never yelled at my wife or threaten my wife we've never had a situation like that she could still get activated even without me trying to do it and so imagine what happens in a marriage right in a relationship when you've got both you know spouses dealing with their own set of you know uh issues that they're coming in with traumas a marriage can fall apart because they stop communicating they're constantly in this threat state which is not true but they can't stop it so that's what we help so it'll help in a lot of situations also think about the culture in a business if you're the CEO right and you've you're constantly getting activated by your staff and people without even realizing it and you lose your cool all the time right and then you apologize which is what Bridget's father would do all the time it would be like oh you know I didn't mean that you know I love you right tell me you love me give me a hug that's all the fakeness I kept seeing they weren't okay with it right their children right they're not supposed to be threatened like that and and they they just were not okay with it so they were in a hypervigilant State now it'll show up in all kinds of different ways for Bridget for my wife she was still a loving human being but she just lived in fear her sister was angry her sister became very bitter and angry with the whole situation totally different response same one year apart two sisters one year apart totally different approaches to it and I'll share a little bit more about that too there's that hypervigilance traumatic memory in the environment is constantly causing it so the thing that we're working on now Evan and we wanted to try to do this as well we may be able to get it done before we finish everything is we're actually doing a study on DNA and how the DNA is affected and so I just wrote my uh fourth book and I called it don't mess with my DNA and the idea is to for parents to learn how they can affect their child's DNA the way it's read and transcribed so you don't actually change the DNA but you change the way the genes Express and methylate and so when there's trauma what we now know from trauma is trauma creates inflammation so that activates certain genes that become inflammatory genes so now they become inflamed when they become inflamed they're going to affect the immune system genes so now the immune system turns down the inflammation turns up the neurotransmitters turn down the neuroplasticity turns down so different genetic factors will apply depending on trauma so we'll see certain genes go up regulate and certain genes go down regulate with trauma now as long as the trauma now you understand how memory works as long as the memory of the trauma is still running the genes stay in that state and so that's going to affect so if your immune system genes are downregulated what's going to happen you're going to get sick now you're susceptible to a lot of other things and then you start showing up in all kinds of different diseases you may never have gotten had you not experienced the trauma what do you mean my genes downregulated so they turn down so they I think of it as energy so if you've got your cell phone you got 100% of your energy right when you power your cell phone up in the morning but you open up 10 apps well those 10 apps are going to drain power from something else because they're open so your inflammation genes up regulate which means they turn on and go higher which means that's going to pull power from something else so now some of your genes are going to downregulate so they're going to have less energy but it's not supposed to stay on it's supposed to be temporary inflammation comes in to protect the system but it's not supposed to stay on but as long as the trauma is running and it continues to keep it into an inflamed State because when did your subconscious think that trauma is happening now because it sees it in real time so if the trauma is happening now even though the trauma happened 20 years ago your mind still thinks it's happening now it's going to stay and keep the inflammation active so like a phone you know when your when your phone's below 20% it gives you that low battery warning yep uh is it is it safe to say that basically your genes are similar and that you might be predisposed for Crohn's or something else but only if you hit below a certain threshold so there could be certain things that again genetically that you could be exposed to but you could also then susceptible to colds and flu and so why was Ashley constantly getting ear infection throat infections CU her inflammation was up and her immune system was down so if your battery is below 20% you're going to get all sorts of bacteria viruses that you can't F at a higher level then you don't get sick yep that's really what it is so we want to keep the inflammation genes downregulated and we want to keep the certain activations like neurotransmitters neuroplasticity those kinds of genes up regulated and the only way to do that is to keep the system system in regulation so there's no threats that's supposed to be homeostasis the mind and body are always trying to seek homeostasis the reason it doesn't is because there's a reason a call for energy and it's going to move energy to whatever app is open and if the trauma app is open it's going to be saying we need to be doing something about this trauma but do you need to be doing something about the trauma no but your mind doesn't know that so it keeps calling for AC yeah so it's not just depleting energy it's it's sucking energy from one to the other yep and and it continually drains it and so that's where people end up with chronic fatigue you I'm just exhausted all the time of course you are right the system is turned on I mean you've got 30 apps open up on your phone and you say why is my battery draining so fast so when you say that the the genes for inflammation upregulate it's also sucking the power from the other genes and that's why they're down regulating yep got because it needs power yeah right to upregulate so everything is all energy so we're just a walking ball of energy and where's the so you got 100% of your energy where's it going to be allocated and your your mind is going to allocate it to wherever it needs the software is going to go to wherever the demand is for right right and so there's why people get sicker and as long as you've got that operating that trauma Loop operating you're going to pull power which is what these athletes the the people who train these athletes said now we get it so I work with athletes and after I work with them they perform better because they've got more power I didn't make them faster they were already that fast they just didn't have the power available because the mitochondria was actually being pulled mhm so there's certain genes what we're going to be doing is we're going to be looking at different genes um the bdnf gene is basically works on neuroplasticity so that basically is the ability of the brain to continue to expand and grow and learn so when there's a lot of trauma a lot of times people who have a lot of trauma the neuroplasticity sort of shuts down and shuts off so they don't grow as fast we see that a lot of times in people with uh addiction so I worked with one lady who was 17 when she started or 16 when she got into addiction she came in to see us at 33 so 17 years of addiction really bad addiction OD twice we got out of addiction she lost her daughter the courts had taken away her daughter she was really struggling and after she went through our program we got her through she's now five years completely clean and free right off of everything got her daughter back she's got her own house she's got her own business she's married I mean her whole life turned around but what we found is right when she got out of the addiction and even though she was improving and staying out of addiction the plasticity of her brain was still stuck around 16 because she was still stuck in that she took a little while to catch up maturity wise because that plasticity wasn't there and that's very common so when we did and I'll explain one of the studies that we did do on neuroplasticity we can change the neuroplasticity really quickly but that's that particular Gene so it downregulates so so what do you look so I mean I've done my DNA I've had it sequenced bdnf and comt and some of these look familiar some these I haven't heard of before at least in my recollection of the data it's either like a TT or CT or GA or whatever the but that's your DNA and it doesn't change the DNA doesn't change it's just the way the genes methylate or regulate right that will change so we're not changing the DNA we're just changing the way it's being read and transcribed basically is the best way to describe it so it's going to if it upregulates it's going to be overactive if it down regulates it's going to down regulate it's going to be underactive so that will have an effect on the overall system once our goal is to get it back into balance so it goes back into the way it's supposed to be operating is there a reason why some of these are red and green or that's just uh yeah I'm showing those are the ones that go down so the red ones are going down and the green ones are going up so uh and there's all kinds of different genes so this is just sort of an example but the reason I use the bdnf one is because that's one of the ones we've already done a study on and we've shown a change in that one from the list that's that's the one that I know the the most as well it's had a lot of research on it so it's going down but we want it to go up yes we don't want it to go down so that's basically its ability to grow so that's the neurogenesis right the neurons growing and learning and expanding so it sort of shuts down the reason it shuts down is because if you're being chased by a lion how much do we need to learn we don't yeah we need to run right we need all the power for running so it's going to allocate his resources to the most important part which is the threat so somebody is dealing with you know repeat trauma and the reliving it their bdnf is going to be really low really low on a day-to-day ongoing basis which is why they're in chronic inflammation and pain and chronic inflamation and pain and then just struggling even just studying so Bridget for example when I first met her she said to me she goes um I really struggle in school I'm not a very good student and I was like hm that's strange I I thought she seemed pretty bright pretty smart she's super intelligent but she never felt intelligent she said I could read a page in a book and reread that page again because I couldn't remember what I just read yeah now she's my best researcher she can remember she kills me she'll be sending me constantly stuff about you remember this you remember that she can remember stuff now but that was definitely affected her neuroplasticity was affected and so you're now testing they come in before a session with you what's your Baseline then after going through the process you see that the bdnf is elevated yep got it and how is that different I guess that's a so that's a blood test yeah and well we did this one different we did this one through uh qeg so an EEG so we measured brain wave activity so that's how we measured that but the neuroplasticity huh so the brain wave is going faster or no so it depends on what area of the brain so I'll I'll get into that in a second here yeah because I mean the aura rank for me showed now I'm into a restorative State Y which I'm assuming it's just off of heart rate I don't know what this could be picking up there's no blood prick on here just for my heart rate is and the vagal tone and everything else you're slowing down my heart rate as we're talking okay great yep so that's it so the DNA is going to be something but we definitely know that trauma affects the DNA of a child and it shows up in all kinds of different health issues so when we get it back into balance and then the DNA and the genes go back into the proper format and the proper expression then Health improves so trauma impacts doesn't impact the DNA it impacts the gene expression gene expression got it okay yep and so that's what we're showing is going to change and that's we're going to hopefully we're waiting for the test to come in so we can show I'm excited and then transgenerationally that also affects it so that will pass on from generation to generation so when you start to fix the methylation and the gene expression in a child that will then translate into their offspring how did they test for that well they they pretty much will once the other child is born or they see them later on they always talk about how trauma can pass from generation to generation that's really how it's doing it is through the the gene expression and then it will so for Ashley right she's growing up more in the type of world that I grew up in very calm very relaxed so she should not have gotten groans but as soon as she got the trauma it then activated those genes and then it turned up her uh or turned up her inflammation genes turned down her immune system genes and her neurotransmitter genes and there's where she started to have to use anti-depressants anti um anxiety medications because they were trying to regulate it right I mean this even what you're doing is so new and you're helping create the studies right around this it's hard to imagine that there's significant multi-generational research out yet but that has it's it's it's coming yeah it is coming but that's definitely I think what we're going to see this is going to be the Cutting Edge model for it we're going to start to see how it affects future generations of DNA I mean you showed with your family and we didn't I mean you haven't shared much on this interview about your your brothers and your your real birth family um and how much of a difference kind of you're you're living compared to them so the the impact of environmental uh nurturing Etc versus what you're born with yep actually I should share that night that's probably not a bad time to to share it is I grew up like I said with my brother and sister in my family right my brother and sister who are no genetic relationship to me right they're seven and 10 years older than me they've been healthy all their lives none of us have ever been hospitalized or sick so what was that nurture right we're growing up in that nurturing environment we all have the same sort of similar experiences growing up in nurture and so the genetic side isn't affected I found out that I have six siblings I only found this out two years ago that I have six siblings that were born three before me three after me the three that were born before me all had health issues two of them have died of cancer one has a heart condition all three of them had addiction issues I've never had a drink in my life never touched a drug in my life my brother and sister and I don't drink none of us in our family drank and it's not that we're against drinking my wife Bridget has wine so it's not an anti-drinking thing but we just never had that pain so my brother and sisters that were born before me grew up in a very traumatic household my mother was growing up in a constantly being beaten it was physical AB abuse emotional abuse and she just walked out and left the three kids just left them they never knew where she went had got pregnant with me in between the next three right and that's how I got adopted and then she went and had three more children after me but i' had already been adopted into the family I was but the three that were born after me she got into an identical kind of marriage physical emotional abuse addiction issues all six of my siblings all had four of the six have died and the other two had health issues all of them had addiction issues and I've never had a drink in my life or touched a drug in my life that was nurture yeah and nurture is way more important than the genetic side I believe time to start an inspired insurance company there you go yeah I mean we just I've done I did a round of life insurance a couple years ago we just finished going through all the testing for the second round of life insurance at a higher number now because we've grown but all the questions they ask you are all about family history and did any somebody in your family have this disease before the age of blank and they have all of their statistics of they know well if based off of this we can guarantee you for this but if you have a whole new way of helping people yeah that's a that's a whole new life insurance company 100% that there's your billion dollar company right there yep I actually well we do know that we can reset right the DNA we can reset the genetic expression this is all fixable there's nothing that's permanent so if you have that issue right and you have that like my daughter's Crohn's there's no other explanation for her Crohn's to go away there's no medical explanation for it the only thing that was different is that she got the trauma resolved so she can talk about her trauma now she's not where before if you had have asked Bridget about her trauma or Ashley about her trauma they'd have broke down and cried they couldn't talk about it and that's why people don't talk about it and that's why they don't like going to traditional therapy because they have to keep talking about it where I don't need the people to talk about it we just need to resolve it we just need to get it out of that high resolution Loop that it's been running in so that then they can talk about it so what I want to share with you now is how the brain communicates and so have you studied any of the the different brain waves this is another great example of I've heard this 100 times and I keep forgetting which is Delta and beta and like what's the which one helps you restore and is the dreaming one I just always forget so I'm excited to learn okay your way explain it real simple so beta think of beta is running about 15 to 30 Hertz or cycles per second it's pretty fast right so it's in a beta State and so when it's in a beta state it means it's processing a lot of information so 15 to 30 Hertz or cycles per second so if you're in a traumatic State you're going to be in a high beta State because your brain is taking in and processing a lot of information so beta is high when you move into Alpha Alpha's between seven and 14 Hertz that's where the mind is actually much slower very relaxed and very focused they believe Albert Einstein lived in that state most of the time so both of these are awake States both awake States yep so beta very active and Alpha is also active but super relaxed and super focused active is I'm but I'm processing a lot of stuff at once but it's very calm and relaxed but it's focused on what it's doing so it's not taking in a lot so beta is very high lot of stuff Alpha is much more focused so when you're when I work with the athletes I say I want you performing in Alpha because Alpha state is super relaxed and super focused that's when you perform at your highest level cuz everything else is black and white or we forget about it yeah we're not even thinking about anything else we're just focused on so if you're playing baseball right you want to be focused on what you're doing or tennis or golf or whatever it is yeah you want to be in an alpha brain wave state when you're in that state you're running between seven and 14 Hertz very relaxed and focused do these correlate to sympathetic parasympathetic M yep yep so if you're going to sympathetic State very active you're going to be in high beta so you you could track this right like is there is that the Muse headband or there's M will do it yeah and Q EEG or EEG right which is what we did to measure right people pre- and post on our program and the changes that we saw so Alpha is relaxed and focused Theta is between 4 and 7 Hertz that's the dreaming state so when you go to sleep sleep at night you fall into you go from alpha into Theta and Theta is when you're dreaming and so when you're dreaming right your ba your your mind is basically processing what you experience during the day but I believe it's also processing unresolved trauma that's why people who have trouble sleeping right is because so Bridget had terrible trouble to sleep because her mind was still trying to process the trauma for her but it can't process it because it doesn't exist anymore but it's running through the data so Theta is the dream state when you go below 4 Hertz you move into Delta and Delta is dreamless State that's you're not dreaming at all but that's where the maintenance is getting done you're below four Hertz so this made sense why now I healed so fast I'm getting two or three times the Delta Sleep that my teammates are getting because I'm not processing much trauma I'm processing what I experienced during the day which is what everybody does right but then I would get into more Delta Sleep which was where the maintenance was getting done Delta it was deep sleep deep sleep RM is or REM sleep is is Theta REM sleep is Theta y okay yep so you're in that state so when you're in that dreamless state your mind is basically fixing anything that needs to get fixed and light sleep would be would be Theta still Theta y okay so this so there is there no brain we difference between light sleep and REM sleep yeah so it's moving it's in the progression between that four and S Hertz moving so would be lower yeah yes right until you get the Delta which is the Deep the very deep stora yep okay yep so you want to be more into that Delta Sleep for longer periods of time which your or ring will measure that yeah it does what do you get a night in Delta Sleep depends on what's going on but generally I'm probably probably getting 3 hours of Delta so I'm in like the best would be an hour and a half yeah the worst would be 45 minutes yeah so some people get as little as 30 minutes to 45 minutes and if they got an hour an hour and a half I'm getting probably on average two between two and three somewhere around there so it takes me a while to fall asleep and then when I am asleep I don't stay I don't get the deep sleep very often or stay there for very long yeah and that's why people say oh I got 9 hours sleep and I'm exhausted because you didn't get deep sleep yeah right you stayed in that very light sleep but that was what Bridget was doing because her mind was not okay right it was waiting for the lion to show up right so she couldn't rest okay I understand that for falling asleep MH so my mind is rest as I'm thinking about tomorrow what I'm going to whatever when you're already in sleep then why does it not go to deep sleep with CU it may still be working on something just subconsciously you're already asle but your mind is still going doesn't want to go deeper because it's still got stuff to do doesn't want to go into that very low right into that maintenance sleep because it still has stuff to finish before it's almost like we got to batten down the hatches before we for the storm coming so if I'm staying in Theta it's because I'm the theory is you're you're still resolving process okay so the Theta is your resolving and processing the day or even deeper trauma even deeper trauma and the Delta is You' resolve that and now you're just healing now we're healing so the mind's not active at all very it's it's still slow very slow it's basically feeling very relaxed and chilled out let's fix things what do we need to fix so I'm healing from concussions I'm healing from Stitches I'm healing from injuries that the a my average teammate wasn't healing from as fast yeah and that was the only explanation for it still is today I just I don't get sick and if I do get something that generally doesn't last right and I'm through it pretty quickly I mean I never got covid I didn't take the vaccine right and I was traveling seeing people I did nothing different in Florida nothing shut down so we were open the whole time anyway and I don't believe that I didn't see it and experience it I fought it I'm pretty sure I did Canada was a different story I know no question we were all about it yeah we have a lot of friends up in Canada that couldn't believe that how irresponsible we were so so okay thank you this I still forget the names but the but it it makes more sense and actually the visual with the with the I was looking at you instead of the picture but the visual with the the speed of the Waves helps so a good way to remember it in terms of from the highest to the lowest is think of bat D yeah better names d right we need better names for all this stuff it's too hard to remember it is so but that's basically when I work with the athletes I train them that when they're performing they need to be an alpha so I worked with one guy who's a long drive competitor competes in those long drive golf championships he went through the program and then two days later he goes out to the first tournament of the year in Phoenix and I see on Golf Channel that he's in the finals so I sent him a text and I said his testimonials on our site and I said Tim how you feeling right and uh he wrote back three words he goes Alpha baby Alpha let's go he was an alpha he won the tournament yeah he uh won two of the first three tournaments of the year and he said I've never been so relaxed and focused playing golf he didn't feel any stress at all in fact when we were watching him in that first tournament and he was in the finals and he was just standing there with the golf ball rolling it in his hand and the announcers were like there's something really different about Tim like yeah he's really different right they could see it they just didn't know what it was cuz he wasn't stressed out he was so chilled out is so is that an automatic by product of removing stress or is that also a conscious choice to focus on something it's not conscious it's just conscious there's no conscious choice to focus on like I'm only going to hit the ball I'm focused only on the ball right versus removal stress or or combination of both it's really a combination but what he wasn't GNA he said I would have been knocked out of that tournament before because I hit two bad shots in a row and immediately went oh no oh no oh no something's wrong right and he says and I would have before gone and switched my driver you know switched my grip done something different and this will make more sense when we get into it I taught him how to bring his system back into regulation and he did it instantly he says then just started striping the ball again okay because and then the more you do it the more you train your system to stay in that that state and we want to stay in the alpha we can bring you back to Alpha instantly okay right so those are the different brain waves the reason why I use the 4 hours is because by the time we get to any kinds of events and experiences that have been traumatic or disturbing right I'm going to have you in such a calm restored state which you're already seeing on your aing or ring says I'm there how fast will it fix it instantly okay it's not feeling stressed so it will actually do the updates so it can do the resetting and updating when it feels safe if you go into a traditional therapy session and you're going to be there to talk about a traumatic event the traumatic event was recorded in a beta brain wave state so now you come in to sit down to talk to me for 45 50 minutes session and I start asking you about this traumatic event what brain wave state are you instantly going to go into right beta talking about a beta memory right how do I fix beta and beta but if you notice we've never even talked about any kind of trauma by the time we get right to any of those events you're already in a very relaxed restorative mindset and I say let let's bring in a minute two minute highlight reel of that event it resets it very simply and easily there's no resistance that would be very hard to do in the first hour yeah that's why it works and so and it's again all the tonality all the stories the metaphors everything that I'm doing right is moving your brain into a very relaxed Alpha brain wave state and then it just does the reset so weird because if you had told me it's like this is normal this is what I am but then you look at the data it's like actually wow that's shocking so one of the guys Daryl from The Genius Network do you remember did you hear what he talked about with his daughter he had his daughter go through the program um I think so so he had her do the online version but he he had her go through the program and he said and she's a division one uh competitive swimmer for her University and she went to the program he said how do you feel she goes I liked it I think it was really good she goes I can't say I feel different right she goes but I liked it then they started noticing over the next few weeks she was making personal bests she was improving her time constantly went to a meet blew the competition away the next competitor was almost four minutes behind her didn't realize that that much had changed I honestly I think you give everybody an Ur ring for a week before you have to wear this me and then you come in here cuz I would have said yeah it was great I'm learning we haven't done anything yet but I'm learning that I love it it's informational y but it's actually already changing where I would I would never I would I would pass a lie detector test to say this is just a normal day yep that's what it feels like but that's the mitochondria the energy everything starts to shift yeah as soon as we start educating the mind and the mind starts getting out of that stress State and says oh we're going to fix it good let's fix it so this is what we did with brain mapping this is how we measured the different so this is a brain map so we had people put a cap on it's a qeg cap and it's measuring the different areas of the brain each area of the brain has a different function and so we did a brain map before their session and then I took them through what we're going through here and then we measured them 90 or more days afterwards to see what changed in the brain waves and the way the brain waves and the way the system operates this uh program that they use has millions of different brain maps in it so it's measuring against the data datase of different brains on how much the brain changed during that period of time during the session and after the session so when we first started to do it the guys that were doing the study with us he said I don't think you're going to get as much change as you think you're going to get he said I'm going to just measure it I'll provide you the data he says but I'll just report what it is he says but it takes a lot to change the brain that much we were measuring brain plasticity the that's what we wanted to see he says if you get a 10% change in brain plasticity that would be a home run so I said just give us the data afterwards so we had people from 15 years of age into people into their 60s post-traumatic stress depression uh panic attacks anxiety all across the board and so we measured them pre- and post and when we finished here was the final results almost 46% change in brain plasticity which is massive and brain plasticity is the ability to to learn process new information openness and grow right so the neurons start expanding so the ability for the brain now to learn and grow so that plasticity they always used to think that plasticity started to decline as people got older that's not necessarily true so they're learning that the plasticity of their brain continues to be able to grow because we had some people in their 60s who were still having 30% change in brain plasticity so our brains are constantly able to grow what interferes with that is if you've got this trauma Loop running right it doesn't want to grow so it gets stuck like I explained the one lady who' been in addiction she was still stuck as a 16-year-old in addiction even though she was out of addiction now she had to quickly catch up but that was she was able to do that after the plasticity started to come back and so that's what we were seeing so that's what we want to do so the DNA is another measure of that so we can measure that through a gene or we can measure it through this brain plasticity in the the brain waves so here's what's interesting you can see on the bottom 0102 that's the asalo that's the back of the brain so the 0102 area is the acial lobe that's where visual cortex is processed one of the things that we saw that people who had postraumatic stress when they measure that whether they measure that through a spec scan or fmri or qeeg that asobe is very active so it's in a high beta State a lot so when I looked at that and I said why would the aalow be in a high beta State it's viewing something it's looking at data which is the memory after we finished and took them through the process that area calmed down which shows that once we get the trauma out of the way the memory is not constantly running through the visual cortex which is not constantly activating the system so the other interesting thing I kept saying research keep kept falling in my lap at different times which was pretty interesting one of the things schizophrenia schizophrenia is the most extreme form of trauma response so people who have schizophrenia have been highly traumatized and so if the trauma is that much it disorganizes the brain so they become schizophrenic the brain can't process that much trauma so they become what they call schizophrenic what I found in the research there's never been a documented case in history of a person who developed schizophrenia that was born blind H which means they never recorded it the visual so there's people who became schizophrenic after they were born right with sight but born blind has never been a schizophrenic case so again it's just interesting information showing how much the visual is a part of traumatic stress and Trauma any questions before we go on so it's it's it's important for once you understand this can you see how we can we can heal people we can help people really yeah so the thing going through my mind now is especially when you're talking about your daughter and her getting sick all the time and ear infections and I was very sick as a as a child MH I had tubes in my ears constantly on antibiotics infections all the time um and I can't think of anything it's like I I want to kind of go deeper and earlier in life as the more I hear you talk and share and give examples I my brain wants to go earlier than the stories that I have that have some emotional residue to it but I I I I'm trying to find like the deeper one that was earlier like what would cause me to get so sick as a kid where uh my sisters weren't getting sick I was always getting sick uh I ran away from home a couple times you know I don't I don't know why I don't I can't remember why so I don't know if there's something just blocking that that that uh I can't connect back to it's definitely not a vivid image it's not high def right doesn't even exist or like it's been plucked or it's been walled off so I can't even access it um so I don't know if uh if there's a technique to unlock it or it's just more thinking or what but that's kind of where my brain is going now or my mind is going now of maybe there's something earlier and deeper uh talking about your daughter and having that sexual abuse I can't remember any kind of abuse or violence or or negative situation or early trauma but maybe there was if I kept getting sick and ran away and or could have been even just a safety issue could have been a neglect issue right did you feel neglected where were you in the ages in the with your siblings I have an older sister four years older and two years younger sisters Okay so possibly you know could be is there any kind of sort of feeling of not being heard or seen or neglected or um you know maybe I just put a spin on things positively because I'm an entrepreneur or whatever but I thought I had a great childhood yeah you know and and uh I thought everything was great and my sisters both said that I had like they were I had the roughest of the three of them not that it was rough but the roughest the hardest maybe being the only boy or whatever I don't know but I never felt it or or at least now I can't think back to a time where I felt it um was I always happy with every decision my parents made no but it was I I would say it was super loving no like always made to feel like things could get better uh never told that I was stupid or or neglected um that I can remember how about with friends or teachers yeah teachers or grandparents or F I mean I don't know um nothing comes to mind immediately but I'm trying to dig deeper to find it um you know I think of a teacher who who in my art class failed me or got me I had a really bad Mark for whatever reason and uh my mom went in and like fought for me and said that I did the assignment and that her marking wasn't uh fair whatever so my my mom always had my back my parents both always had my back with things I don't know that I'm I'm uh it has an emotional residue like I remember the story but I'm not I don't remember being in that room or what it felt like um so I don't know maybe something happened with with friends or friends of friends or right some event but or even a theme of something like a theme overall theme of did you have feel like you and again we don't need to analyze it but um I'm just sort of like throwing out ideas and it's not important we identify it so don't worry about if we don't identify it we'll just work on whatever you can identify yeah but you know sometimes it could be if you're the only boy maybe there's pressure on you have to be right a certain level you have to ex excel at a certain level or be strong and not show any weakness or whatever it is who knows yeah be all kinds of different reasons I'll give you an example of a lady very successful entrepreneur very successful um but she procrastinated she goes I have no idea why I procrastinate all the time I always put everything off to the last minute I'm always in a panic trying to get stuff done and it totally stresses me out all the time came back to her mother was a principal at a high school a principal at a school and when she was in school her mother would make her bring her her homework all the time time and so she would bring her homework and her mother would take she said I remember this red pen she would highlight all the mistakes I made then I'd have to go back and fix some and it was like she was assuming she was being criticized all the time you're always wrong you're always wrong look at all these mistakes you made and make her go back and correct it so what her mind was trying to do is avoid that as long as she could she wanted to avoid the red pen and the mistake because she wanted to please her mom but she felt like she could never get there and so no matter what she did it was wrong all the time and so there's where the procrastination came from yeah I mean in my mind my parents are my heroes um and and I'm I'm sure you know obviously they're not perfect humans and made mistakes I don't know I don't know I'm curious yeah you know cuz all of the things that we wrote down about Minecraft and everything else might all be connected back to the same thing yeah that could be like a theme sometimes of I have to be perfect or I have to get it right or there's an expectation right of what I'm supposed to do or how I'm supposed to perform yeah I mean growing up I had uh I was never the best student I was like a b or c student my sisters were both getting A's and so we always had a I remember always having a conversation with my parents after every report card came in we have the talk but I always felt like it was possible like they would always leave me with never like you're stupid why aren't you doing better it was never um an angry conversation and they would always leave telling me you have K you do anything believe that you can so like the Bel right the belief became a big thing so I always felt like it was possible at least that's what I tell myself if I look at the memory it wasn't a a dreaded terrible scenario it wasn't enjoyable but but I always felt hope coming out of it right maybe that's maybe it's revisionist history I don't know um so there was an expectation I guess to do well um but if you if I'm looking at it now from like is this is am I emotional about it now like oh my God I'm disappointing them I don't feel a strong emotional connection but but I don't know maybe there is or maybe it was even earlier in life because the getting sick and ear infections and everything else was way earlier right like in my uh uh Elementary School I used to sit under the desk right because I couldn't hear and the teacher thought it was stupid ah so I sat under the desk right but I had an undiagnosed ear problem and I just couldn't hear so I just oh I'm do my own thing and sit under the desk right and through multiple schools and different doctors ended up you know getting tubes in my ears and cleaning up the fluids here but I don't remember that like that's my mom telling me that that's what happened so there could be deeper in there about standing out right and and not being included as the way everybody else is being included so you your mind sometimes may not even be okay with that I don't like I don't like being called out or I don't like I don't know I mean I'm just looking at um you know the one thing that you we talked about is you're you were worried about forgetting right is that a theme about forgetting something um I think it'll tie into like still the planning and uh you know I'm a recovering perfectionist yeah and so if I have something on my mind at night and I don't write it down I will be up all night right like oh this is a great question for Don I got to make sure I ask this question right you know I have to write it down or I'll be up all night worried that I would forget it right for sure um so I don't know where that so again that could be and again we don't need to get into so I don't want to make everybody think that we have to analyze all this we really don't need to but it's just for the purposes of this yeah it's if we can get to something then that's great but it's not necessarily important your mind knows what's bothering it and so even though we may not identify it we just want to get your mind to be able to process whatever's been bothering it yeah so I'm just trying to F think of this a spe an event yeah event has an emotion to it that I mean maybe maybe me sitting under the desk you know was really not triggering activ activated and uh took my mind I just don't remember it now right so I'm I'm explaining my mom's story of what happened not my story Y and it was you know grade one or something so I just like I don't but maybe something did happen that's it's like walled off and it's so big that I can't even bring it up well Jim quick right remember his story y he said when he hit his head when he was in kindergarten and then struggled he couldn't remember couldn't had trouble reading doing all that stuff and then uh he said then the teacher asked him to read in front of the class and he was struggling he was trying to read and then the kids started to laugh and then the teacher said Don't Laugh at Jim he's got a broken brain MH and he said I instantly went I give up I have a broken brain that's my problem he remembered that that was when he said he realized that I'm broken yeah now he wasn't yeah right but to a kid when a teacher an authority figure says Don't Laugh at Jim he's broken right that's when he just said I realized oh there's no sense trying right because I'm not going to be able to do it that's how much an impact an an event or an experience like that can have and it gets seared in there yeah and then it shows up later on so what I want to talk to you about now have you ever heard of the Schuman resonance no the Schuman resonance was discovered in the 50s when we started sending astronauts up into space okay and what the astronauts would come back and talk about during their debriefings were feeling these emotional disturbances and so nasau were like why are these astronauts having emotional issues up and outer space why are they talking about this during their debriefs and so they started to research it and Dr Schuman was the one who discovered it what he discovered is that the Earth has an electromagnetic energy right it's got a magnetic core so there's an electromagnetic energy to our earth when they got into these spacecrafts and started leaving the planet they became disconnected to the electromagnetic energy of the earth that disregulated their nervous system they weren't grounded teimo right is grounded so he's always grounded to the energy of the Earth so he's always feeling safe because he's grounded and it's what we want to be able to do is stay grounded the Earth's energy Dr Schuman figured out a way to measure it he measured the Earth's energy at 7.83 Herz which is the low range of alpha so when you're in that low range of alpha you're in the Schuman residence you feel grounded that's where you feel safe so I want to show you how you can stay in that state that's how you ground yourself and I'm going to give you tools to be able to do it plus we also have to get anything that would interfere with You Bridget had trouble getting there I was living there because I didn't have anything really pulling me out of it I was staying fairly grounded all the time she couldn't do that because she was always worried about everything so she'd come out of that state so 7.83 Hertz is the energy of the earth so for the first time in the history of our planet we took human beings off of that energy and so that showed up in their nervous system regulation So based on that right I'd like you to give some thought to it when you find your mind is not staying present in the moment right that's 100% of your energy so when you have 100% of your energy you're fully present in the moment when you aren't stand fully present and you start to worry about things or you're struggling with something how much of that 100% does it feel like you lose at times uh I mean it can I can go to 100% yeah so you could drain all of it at times so because I'm thinking about something else yeah yeah yeah for sure so you can lose up to 100% of your energy at times which means you're not present anymore right right and so the idea is is you want to be able to stay present at 100% of your energy present right not drained by your mind thinking about all kinds of other things right I'm just present somewhere else yeah yeah Y and so but it's not beneficial right we don't want to be present somewhere else we want to be present in the moment because that's when you enjoy your family your friends your business your colleagues probably so that number might be different I mean if I'm uh when do I drift off the most when I'm bored when I'm not interested in whatever like here I'm present because I'm talking to you and I'm learning yeah if this was super boring I'd be thinking oh my God this is terrible I'm over yeah exactly what's for lunch what the next thing right I'm I'm uh but if I'm trying to stay present and I'm not uh during the day I think I'm pretty good I think it' just be at sleep it's like I'm trying to sleep right and my mind is going somewhere else instead of going to nowhere but during the day when you're out of it you can you understand what it feels like to have that energy and you're not staying present which means you're not performing at your highest level yeah that's probably minor throughout the day now am I am I focused on I think that's more selection of am I picking the right thing to work on right but if I choose the right if I'm whatever I work on I'm working on that thing and I'm usually pretty focused during the day at this point on the things that I'm supposed to be right working on yeah does a Crisis happen I get diverted sure um but I think on a day-to-day be mostly at night with sleep right so the target for you my target is to be able to show you how to get to 100% when you need to be there okay right and we're going to train you how to do that great right so that's my target 100% of your energy my other Target for you after we're finished here today is your mind will be updating rebooting refreshing and adjusting so that it operates clear calm at peace with understanding and then thoughts become beneficial appealing and possible that's my target for you okay and that's the goal for for I have for you to get your mind 100% present in the moment anytime you need to get there and then when we're finished here today your mind will continue this updating rebooting refreshing and adjusting so then it operates differently operates clear and calm and peaceful with understanding and then thoughts become beneficial appealing and possible we only want thoughts to come in that have benefit appeal impossibility make sense that's a great goal perfect so that's my target all you had to do is show up great everything's up for me to get your mind to do all the work okay all right yep so can you tell me about a time and this could be at any time in your life okay where you were Outdoors you were somewhere in nature and you saw something that was just so beautiful one of those moments that just took your breath away can you tell me about where you were and what you saw uh let's go with the zuk pizza in Germany okay I don't know how to spell that I'm G to say Germany took me forever to pronounce it properly it's basically the highest point in the Alps that uh you take a gondola up through and you're through you're you're going up and it's high it's really high and then and then you go through you're in the clouds and you don't see anything whatever it's all foggy and then you're above the clouds and you're looking out like oh my God this is awesome so Above the Clouds above the CLS in Germany it make it easy okay so perfect so that's awesome right so anybody who's sitting there listening to this right now right a time in nature you saw something just one of those really great moments you felt that sense of peace right so what you saw you just felt that sense of peace right peace yeah okay I went more like awe and wonder was it peace peace like relaxing yeah it could be peace but it could be on one as well whatever resonates with we go with that it was the first thing that came to mind so let's go with that okay so in Germany so we're looking for that particular moment okay that you experience that special right feeling yeah right in that moment you were completely centered MH you were in total balance 100% of your energy was there you were fully present in the moment that's perfect balance okay everything you needed was there the reason we're using that is we want that to become a moment that we use as our reference point for that's where we want you living okay right to come back to so your subconscious mind is our survival brain it's still our primitive mind that primitive mind still responds to stories symbols and metaphors it's got a lot of its primitive Communications So based on that what I'd like you to do and your mind will do this perfectly for you let's have your mind create for you a symbol to represent what you were experiencing in that moment the symbol could be something from nature could be a wild animal could be a scene what would be a good symbol to represent what you experienced in that moment I'm trying I'm trying not to take your like wild animal now I'm just going to wild animal okay and it could be anything like that no no I I hear you I hear you symbol for that specific scene for that specific scene in what you are experiencing so we're going to represent that with a symbol let's do the gondola Gondola I was I was in a gondola perfect so the gondola is going to be your symbol we're going to get your mind to recognize the gondola with that moment okay and that brings you right back in to center okay and so we're going to train your mind to understand I'll show you m and Center is Alpha or Center is Center is Alpha got it there's mine there a hawk you sort of see it right so I I didn't know why I picked a Golden Hawk at first okay right but I remember the very first team I ever played on in elementary school called the Golden Hawks let's go right and I remember feeling element SCH Elementary School wow okay and so there was something I guess maybe about that time that was important to me I remember playing out in the field and it was I guess maybe I recognize I'm a good athlete but so now I have my Golden Hawk on my phone I put pictures of Golden Hawks in my office right wherever I am because I'm constantly reminding my mind to come back into balance and it's training it make sense so we're going to have Gonda so we want you to put a picture of a gondola right on your computer on your phone wherever you can put a pictures of it whatever your symbol is will become what we use to bring you back into Center and your brain's going to learn it so already my mind is going I need to write this down or I'm going to forget it we won't let you forget homework okay good you're writing it down so I don't have to it all down for you yep I wrote down where you were I wrot I'm already thinking I need to Google image search zuk Spix Gondola and like find that and make that my background and make that the background okay and it's amazing how we can shut down instantly when somebody goes into a stress mode as soon as your mind sees the gondola okay it can't feel stress we've trained it to accept that that that is that moment we we're at peace come back into Center and balance okay and then when you listen to the audios you're going to be getting constant reinforcement about see your symbol recite your statement activate your anchor I'll give you those ones as well okay right so we're going to be training the brain to come back into balance okay all right so Gondola does that still resonate with you that seems like a good one you can change it you can do whatever you want it's whatever resonates with you yeah I mean that that is a there's an emotional I can see it it's again it's not necessarily calm but it's like awe and wonder and wow and amazing so that's what we're going for going for okay y that special moment right where you sort of experience that feeling okay right so Gondola will be your symbol okay what we're going to add in are two more tools okay the second one's going to be a personal statement this is something almost that you would say that resonates with you okay you know Nike has just do it it can be action oriented it can be I am what would be a good personal statement for you great things come to me great things come to me I like it so now we've got your symbol we got your your gondola right we've got your great things come to me which is your personal statement y now we're going to do what what called an anchor which is a touch a touch yep so this is now physical so we're activating the different parts of the brain the asbit lobe is for the visual symbol right the Asal gets activated right the temporal lobe is language so that's your personal statement okay so and then the prodal lobe deals with senses and touch so what we're looking for some people will touch a thumb and finger hand hands together hand on heart whatever sort of works for you what would be a good anchor a touch that would be something this is something you can do and nobody even really knows you're doing it like I said some people will like hold their hand together or you know hands clasp together or hand on heart or you know whatever you I'm I'm going to touch my rings together okay like that uhhuh okay perfect or just like that no like this okay perfect yeah so that'll be your anchor okay so when you listen to the audios what you're going to hear is see your symbol okay recite your personal statement activate your anchor okay and so you do all three of those things and it's resetting your mind and your mind now understands that your symbol statement and anchor means centered symbol statement anchor okay right come right back into Center come back into balance and it's got all its references to do it okay right and the more you do it the stronger and faster it gets that's literally what we got in terms of our patent to shut down a panic attack okay is that we can train the brain to recognize symbol statement and anchor means I'm safe okay and the symbol I'm just visualizing V just visualizing or you can actually have a physical like I have it on my phone right or I have a picture of it got it right so it's wherever it is I believe that when I was a child my home and my parents were my symbol okay right I just instantly felt safe you may have felt the same thing even with your with your home and your parents okay right yeah so it's a sense of safety so we want to just you may not have an ability to do that any other way so this is actually giving you the tools to automatically come back to Center okay right the more you use it the better and faster and stronger it gets okay all right so what we're going to do now was we're going to work on two or three of these events in your lifetime that we want to get updated we want to start to reset okay so we're looking for an event or an experience that when you think about you can feel an emotion or you feel some sort of a sensation can you think of something because I know we talked about um you know that sense of worried that you have quite a bit can you remember a time that you were worried as a child like worried about something was there particular times that you felt worried yeah we're looking for like a root cause kind of yeah yeah and the emotion we want needs to be something that you just feel it's sort of a disturbing like you think about it you get nervous or you get scared or you get angry or right um you know could be something where somebody was like mean to you or picked on you or something like that I have later one I'm like 13 or 14 okay and go there it's a different story uh which we can get into if you want uh the younger or or unless you're just going generic it doesn't matter whatever period of time you can choose whichever time whatever there's no right or wrong so whatever shows up whatever sort of resonates with you just go with it there's no right or wrong okay well if the the the generic one would be great to if it's possible like saying hey something happened to me when I was three but I don't remember it but that's what we're going to go and heal I don't that's doable if you want a specific moment I can go later which I still will feel emotionally connected to and your mind will connect them okay so if there's something similar in terms of the theme to it as well it can pick it up okay so we want the specific one yeah or the generic yeah no we'll do the specific one we'll start off with specific but before we do that I'm going to take you through a couple of exercises to move you deeper into Alpha so the first exercise we're going to do you're just going to have your eyes closed you just don't have to do anything just simply listen to the sound of my voice as your eyes are resting closed and now as your eyes are rest closed and you're listening to the sound of my voice voice listen soundss room the room building at same my voice you can allow your eyes to open so what did you notice what did you experience there right away went super calm yeah yeah I was worried I might fall out of my chair like close my eyes like yeah yeah that's moving really deep into alha yeah yeah very quickly um just I mean as soon as you said breath and I I started focus on my breath yep um so yeah now we're back was great so the idea behind that is moving you deeper into Alpha so when we get into that really deep Alpha State the mind will do restoration okay and it'll do it really quickly so the next exercise we're going to do this is we're talking about energy and this is just sort of a way to demonstrate that you're mind your subconscious mind is what controls the energy it determines where energy is going to move so if there's a threat it's going to move energy to threats if there's no threat it's going to move energy to Healing so where do we want the energy moving we want it moving to the most beneficial area but your mind is what controls that so if we keep your mind very relaxed and focused it's going to move energy to the most beneficial area which is going to be for healing and health so this is going to be a demonstration if you can rest your arm like this on the arm of the chair and hold your fingers together and as you're holding your fingers together I want you to focus your attention on your pointer finger middle knuckle just focus on yours and what I'm going to do now is I'm going to ask your mind to demonstrate to you that it can move energy to your hand and without you consciously doing it your subconscious mind is going to be skin sending energy to your fingers and you'll notice that your fingers will begin to separate you to move forward you little tiny clicks these little vibrations you can consciously make these moves these by your subconscious mind as resp to symb any time you feel little vibration a little click you can those moves how was that good it sort of moving away and just did you feel the little vibrations yeah and so you weren't doing those those were just automatically doing it for you but the purpose of that is to demonstrate to you that your mind is moving the energy for you it feels safe enough it's following along saying let's move energy wherever it's needed and it was just demonstrated it can move energy wherever it's required and so we just had it moving it to your hand right right so now what we want to do is we want to work on an event so you've got that event that you said you're about 13 or 14 y okay so is this one that um is it a shorter event longer event what's what what's like in terms of time so we're looking at how long would it take to run through that event if we were looking for a description of it how long would it take to run through that event a specific moment the 30 seconds 30 seconds yeah okay so we'll do this in 10 pictures okay picture number one will be before the event started can you see where you would be in picture number one uh yeah okay so that'll be picture number one it's a safe place nothing's happening you're just okay right picture number 10 will be it's over whatever that event is you're out of the event now you're back into a safe place can you see where you would be in picture number 10 no so let's find a place that you could be in picture number 10 so it make something up yeah so if you have to make something up where you would be in picture number 10 okay okay so we know what one is before we know what 10 is after right both are safe places though so there's no nothing going on okay whatever two through nine I'll just take you through the different pictures okay you're just you're going to have your eyes closed as I say the picture number you just see the picture you don't have to describe it just look at it okay I'll take you through a series of the pictures and then when we're finished we're going to do a quick breathing exercise where I'll say exhale all the air in your lungs so you'll breathe all out then you're going to breathe in for 1 2 3 4 five hold for six and then breathe out for seven and we'll do that three times okay I'll follow I'll follow along I'll follow I'll follow follow along so when you think about the event now can you feel any kind of an emotion as you're thinking about it now yeah perfect that's what we're going for so you can feel an emotion yeah all right like a four so it's not super strong but also like it's there but it's there y Perfect all right so just allow your eyes to close as I say the picture number just see the picture right don't have to describe it just see it follow along and then we'll do the breathing at the end so we're going to start off with picture number one before picture number two picture number three picture number four picture number five picture number six picture number seven picture number eight picture number n picture number 10 after and now we're going to start again with picture number one before picture number two and now whenever you're ready you can allow your eyes to open so I want you now to go back over it in your mind again just on your own and tell me as you're looking at it if it looks and feels different now as you're looking at it uh it feels scrambled yeah yeah yeah do you feel the emotion now as you're thinking about it uh no not as not nearly as much I mean I I started as a what did I say four four yeah and then when I was in it it took me to like a six or seven yeah I had to I had to kind of figure out what each picture was cuz it wasn't a super clear memory so like every time we went through it I remembered more and more and then I made five like the worst moment yep you know that was the peak I guess and then so every time we went through I remembered more details about the event which then made it worse and was like a six or seven and then and then when you put the numbers all over the place like two like where was two and then eight it's like I'm jumping and I'm scrambling and then the emotion was definitely less like now it's down to like a two it's like I I don't even remember I'm stressing to remember what even happened that's that's the whole thing yeah yeah so it's even hard to recall now so the intensity is there it's not gone yeah it's just no longer you know in intense mode anymore so your mind's not going to respond to it so there will be no emotion if there's no action call yeah and that's when the emotion goes away so people who have had like the Boston Marathon bombing survivors right uh Rebecca Gregory came in 4 and A2 ft from the first bomb mom that went off right had tearing nightmares every night for five and a half years yeah zero no more post-traumatic stress she can talk about it now without breaking down and crying because her mind would have seen it in real time saying run yeah but no longer is it there it's you know there's an emotional vent uhhuh which then I assign meaning too yeah and it's the meaning that then changes Behavior you know later on in life right so we just took out the emotional impact yep which then destroys the meaning yeah what does it mean about you now yeah I don't know it doesn't mean anything just something that happened right okay but especially when we're younger we attach a lot of meanings to things yeah right because we're trying to interpret our world what does it mean about me that this happened so now when you think about it what does it mean about you that this happened yeah I don't know nothing nothing it just happened right so there's no real meaning to it it's just something that happened and it couldn't have happened any other way based on the way right we're going to get into atmospheric conditions right the way the atmospheric conditions were set up in your life it could not have not happened so it doesn't mean anything about you okay does that make sense yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah and as you think about it now go back over it in your own mind and just tell me what you're noticing now when you when you look at it so I think that in terms of language you know if you had asked me even before we started this does it make sense that it meant something about me I'd say no logically logically right so it doesn't Mak sense but it feels different which I which is kind of the whole point yeah um it feels scrambled yeah so there's no action that you need to take what do you need to do about it now uh I don't know nothing there nothing we could do right what do we need to do about World War II yeah better it never happened right but there's no action we can take right we can learn from it right but there's nothing that we need to do about it so that's what we don't want is that call for an action all the time I need to do something about it but there's nothing you need to do and it doesn't mean anything about you it's just something that happened yeah and it could have happened any other way yeah so we got a second event that we can do um so that when you were about 13 or 14 right yeah trying to think what I can get to higher than a four as a starting point you know yeah that's the that's the uh and it can even be something recent oh oh yeah okay okay I got a more recent one I mean I don't know what it means I haven't necessarily signed meaning to it but there's a motion to it so that's fine right all right yeah perfect the meaning could be hidden you're just looking for strong negative em strong negative emotions that if you remember what's the purpose of emotion an action call right is there an action you can take about this situation right so so if there's a negative emotion there's automatically a prescribed meeting even if I can't identify what the meeting is yeah right y so your mind is not okay with it and wants it to be different right right and so we'll try to get you to fix it do something about it okay right so you've got it you got the event yeah yeah yeah okay well before and after so before I'm safe after I'm safe we'll do this one differently we'll do a different one okay um about how long ago was this uh let's say 12 years 12 years ago okay all right so how we're going to do this one we're going to do this one visually as well but I'm going to have you see yourself sitting in a movie theater so you're going to be sitting like you are in a movie theater you're going be in the front row middle seat okay and you're going to watch that event on the screen and so you'll have your eyes closed I want you to watch it on the screen after I say start just run it through if it's a minute two minute highlight rail we're looking if this was a movie trailer we're looking for the movie trailer yeah right when it's finished keep your eyes closed just let me know it's finished I'll give you more instructions okay and I'll take you through a couple of different versions of it okay okay make sense I'm just imagine it I'm just you're just going to be watching you're going to be watching it on a movie screen as if this was a the movie trailer for The the movie about this event yep okay so again is your eyes resting closed just see yourself sitting in a movie theater you're in the front row and you're in the middle seat you're going to watch it on the screen after I say start after it's finished keep your eyes closed but let me know it's finished and then we'll do the breathing at the end so if you're ready front row middle seat watch on the screen go ahead and start all right so again from the this time now I want you go to the back of theater be the last row middle se you watch back mdle SE go back over that one now and tell me what you noticed different or what you're noticing uh that one was interesting so like the first one I just felt scrambled so there like no meaning this one it felt like the meaning was decreasing every time you gave me the exercise move back my mind fought it though compared to the first one right just like turn it black and white and at the back with no wants to be color and pull up front right yeah yeah so I was fighting that lot a lot more than the first one where I was just more confused and disoriented and scrambled um but still less than when when it started it started yep yeah and then like the going to zero yep made it feel way better but the first one especially the first one the back of the front to the back right I was only there like half the time I went back to the front row did you yeah yeah I stop it go back it just naturally went big and so uh but then the black went was easier and then the getting smaller yeah so as you think about it now it feels different though right yeah yeah so that's the whole idea is we're just taking the intensity out of it yeah and so when you go to sleep tonight in the Theta your mind will continue to process all of this okay right and it'll just take all the intensity right out of them okay do you have a third one yeah we'll go so is this one that uh you can talk about or you want to do it visually or how do you want to do it I don't know is it something you could talk about or you don't have to oh um what could I say on camera okay so I'll tell you what we'll do we'll do this one yeah I'm gonna have you talk about it but I'm G to have you talk about it in a new language in a new language and I'm going to give you a new language to learn today what's my new language it's called flowing flowing and there's only one Lang one word in the flowing language and it's flowing okay so instead of saying I walked into the room you'd say flowing flowing flowing every word flowing oh so we have no idea what you're saying but as you're saying flowing you have to go into memory to pull it out okay right great but every word is Flowing Perfect all right and then am I eyes open on this you're GNA keep your eyes open and I'm going to add something else to it so I'm going to tell you you're just going to be like yeah flowing flowing flowing but I want you to put your hand up like this you can left hand or right hand whatever one you want left we start of left okay and I want you to make a box shoulder width to shoulder width apart just like that yep and you can go backwards forwards you can go through it whatever way you want to go forgot what story I'm going to tell you thought guess that's the point so you're going to be telling me the story and then flowing I'm going to copy your hand I want you just to watch my hand so you have to keep your eyes on my hand make sure my hand's doing what your hand's doing don't let me wander make sure I'm sticking to what you're doing how do I make sure you're doing what I'm doing well you just keep looking at and make sure that I'm not if I stop a little bit look make sure you keep focused on my hand okay so I'm saying flowing telling the story moving my hand and looking at yours and looking at my hands just follow my hand this might be my new traumatic moment that I have to we can clear them and create them okay okay great okay all right you ready yeah and so again whatever period of time but I'm still thinking about the thing and explain you're having to go through it yeah and then you're just going to follow my hand and I'm going to copy your hand okay flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing flowing FL FL go back over this one again now and tell me what you're noticing on this one just hard to remember it scrambled again scrambled up again yeah yeah the first and the third were more scrambled this one I never felt ever in it yeah at all right where the first one and the third the second one I felt in it at least for moments okay second one was more the most in it so you felt like you were in the third one no no the third one I felt the least in cuz right from the beginning I'm doing I'm saying something that I don't I'm trying to remember what I'm saying and your hand and my hand there like too many things happening so I never felt connected to the actual intensity of the moment okay I'm struggling to even remember what happened okay through the process so as you're thinking about this event now right try to go back and take a moment here to look at it and tell me if it looks it feels different now as you're looking at it though yeah better uh hard to I'm trying to now as I'm trying to go back to it I have to unscramble The Scrambled so maybe I shouldn't no and that that's okay because your mind now right is processing yeah so it's taking that process so the reason have you ever heard of em R is a particular technique they use in trauma therapy okay it's very effective in terms of it's eye movement okay and so with EMDR it takes a lot longer than what I do right but I studied EMDR so what I'm doing is using some of the EMDR your eye is following my hand so your eyes are following my hand okay which is part of the processing of the memory but what I added to that and I don't know what the event was but I put you in control of my hand hand so it puts you in a position of strength okay so you're moving my hand and I'm having to follow you okay so in a and depending on what the scene is it puts you in a position of strength as you're and they're saying flowing so nobody has any idea what the you know I I work with people to say in big groups right and they'll come up and they could have a major traumatic event in their life and they're using flowing nobody knows what they're talking about and it's not important anybody knows we just need to get it reset okay right yeah and so that's sort of what that technique is so it's moving your hand right which is then moving my hand putting you in control but your eyes are following my hand even though you're controlling it but it's allowing your eyes to process memory and that's what starts to scramble it up okay right so do you want to do you feel like you want to do another one with that one or is that one okay um I mean the three different techniques with all three I feel better okay sure they're all feeling good which is better than I don't know uh they're all work the same really I use three different techniques because sometimes one right may be better for a particular one than another I guess if I'm analyze it and it's like well what what am I trying to accomplish through doing it the first and third one is I'm just not remembering and I'm scrambling it and the second one was lowering the intensity through a visual y it was the hardest one to do but the feeling isn't there as much with the other ones the feeling isn't there as much because we intensely or uh intentionally made it smaller the first and third one the feelings isn't there because my brain got scrambled and trying to remember what it was so the results were all three the same is how do which one is better over a 5year period I have no idea it really doesn't cuz once we get the all we really want to do is get the Mind processed ing the information taken out of that high resolution so it's the hippocampus which is really processing memory that's the part of the brain is the lyic system that works on memory and so again I learned a lot about there was a the most famous case in the world that they studied in terms of the brain was a gentleman called Henry malayas who fractured his skull as a child and ended up um having blackouts and seizures for most of his life but they studied his brain because what happened was is he had blackouts and seizures for most of his life and when he was in his 20s uh neurosurgeon now this is in the 50s right they're doing labotomy in the 50s said oh we can fix these blackouts and seizures we're going to drill two holes into your head and we're going to remove your hippocampus and part of your Amala and so he was desperate because he figured okay this will stop my blackouts and seizures so he let them do it so they drilled the two holes in his head took out part of his uh or took out his hippocampus but at the time they didn't know that the hippocampus was responsible for consolidating memory they didn't know what the hippocampus did so when they removed his hippocampus for the rest of his 55 years of his life he could never retain memory ever again he lived just like an animal right could never store memory so he could watch TV shows over and over as if he was watching him for the first time he could never store memory and so they studied his brain for 55 years but what I saw which I thought was different is I said why did his seizure stop his seizures didn't stop because they removed his hippocampus his hippocampus would have nothing to do with seizures it's involved in memory I believe that the reason his seizure stopped is it was no accident the accident was gone he could never remember the accident so how can he have a seizure if he never had an accident so for 55 years he could never he never remembered the accident again and he never had any seizures anymore so that's the power of the way the the brain works so the memory is where I believe all the issues are coming in with post-traumatic stress depression anxiety all of those things the mind is constantly running through old data activating our nervous system once we get that reset stops doing it and then is the idea to anytime I have something else pops up to run through the same you can do the same kinds of things yeah I mean I can't control your hand or whatever but the first and second you can do yeah different things like that but also too you're going to respond differently your resilience will be different because before right you would have thought oh my gosh I've had a traumatic memory I'm going to live with this for the rest of my life no you're not we can reset it especially if you do it early MH and get it out of the way right away so that's the whole idea behind this is to show you that all of these things are fixable all we have to do is understand how the brain works and that's what we're doing sound good yeah so one of the things that I do talk about as well and this is the thing we talked about with uh with Joe about atmospheric conditions okay right A lot of times when people have had things happen to them you know somebody's hurt them somebody's done something to them right they end up having years and years of resentment and anger right about how things happen to them why did this happen to me why did they pick on me why was I the person right that got involved one of the things that we always talk about is let's look at it if you remember what I said your Gondola represents Gondola represents your mind operating clear calm at peace with understanding and what I mean by understanding is Bridget with her father people used to just say to her you just need to forgive your father and then you'll heal right everything is about if you forgive you can heal so the key is to be able to forgive people who hurt you and that allows you to heal that's not that easy right logically that makes sense right but the subconscious is not logical there's no logic in the subconscious at all it's literal so somebody hurt you and they keep looping through the trauma right that's the way the Mind sees it so when you apply understanding so Bridget could never get the Forgiveness of her father so so I tell a series of different stories and the different stories are talking about how people are growing up in certain atmospheric conditions so with Bridget's father with all his anger all that anger that he was showing towards Bridget couldn't be okay with it because she said you can't treat children in your family like that and then expect them because he would always go but you still love me right you know I don't mean it and I just lose my ghoul but it doesn't mean I don't love you right no that's not right that's not how you treat people you're not how you treat children in your family so what we looked at though and I I did it through a series of different stories but the stories behind it is if somebody's growing up and they're being hurt in their own situation her father must have had a lot of Stormy atmospher conditions in his life that created all that anger so now when you understand how the mind works if he had a lot of trauma and his mind was not okay with all that trauma and it kept trying to get him angry right to get him to do something about it but he can't do anything about it what does he do with all that anger he unleashes it on everybody around him so he Unleashed it on his own family he Unleashed it on on his own employees people that worked for him he was just a very angry person how could he not not have been angry based on the way his mind would Loop through that traumatic data so we're not okay with it we're not letting him off the hook we're just saying now I get it of course he would be angry right what did Bridget do to deserve that nothing yeah what did it mean about her nothing it wasn't about her it was about him so if I take a filter and I take water and water are our thoughts and I pour water through the filter the water comes through the filter clear right if I put mud in the filter and then I pour the water through it the water comes out muddy so what was wrong with the water nothing it filtered through the mud yeah how could it not come out muddy so her father's thoughts filtered through all his muddy atmospheric conditions producing muddy thoughts and so of course that would show up in his behaviors and so he's constantly angry taking it on other people Bridget was always what if in her life what if I had have done this or what if I had have done that maybe he wouldn't have done that or maybe that wouldn't have happened but it wasn't about her there was nothing she was doing that created it she just happened to be living inside his atmospheric conditions and it couldn't have happened any other way based on the way his mind filtered through his atmospheric conditions I'm struggling a little bit to to catch back up to you yeah cuz I feel like it just went through uh it's like when you go to a chiropractor and you had all this stress and then like crack your back and you just want to lie on the table for five minutes yeah been released like like my brain is like trying to catch back up to everything you're saying but um no I love it I think like the the the use of the stories that you you share from your own family but then also the techniques and tools um I think is really helpful yeah and if you if we allow people to um see through understanding what healed Bridget was not forgiveness was understanding she never forgave her father she never got to forgiveness she didn't have to in order for her to heal she just needed to get to understanding right that it wasn't about her it couldn't have happened in the other way right she didn't create it she wasn't responsible for it so where does that fit in now we're back okay understanding atmospheric conditions I mean that's kind of what I would knew you for I guess at least coming through um everything Joe is saying where does that fit into your process because in the exercises we did it was much more about just removing the emotion and scrambling the memory as opposed to not forgiving but even understanding why it happened or who it was or the situation or anything else how does understanding fit in so now your mind filters through so the people who maybe hurt you so I don't know what your personal circumstances were but say somebody just assume that it was somebody that maybe was mean to you or said something to you or didn't treat you right right well your mind would be filtering through that for many years thinking about what did I do to deserve that what could I have done to change that right but that'll stop because you don't need to analyze it it couldn't have been any different based on those atmospheric conditions that they grew up in right so it doesn't mean anything about you even you may be doing something that wasn't you at your best how could you have done it any differently based on the way what you'd experienced in your lifetime so if you've experienced something that's now a resource that your mind uses now if that resource is Muddy because it was a dark time in your life life or something that didn't go well for you and your mind now uses that resource to filter through how good is your thought process going to be not the best until you clear it up so you may have been injured you know they say hurt people hurt people right it's the same kind of thing it's because they're in pain but then when they clear up their pain they no longer filter through their pain now they see things clear and they operate calm and at peace with understanding so it's changing the operations so it allows you to see things right in a different light through understanding if you get the Forgiveness that's fine some people say but I I've forgiven them that's great you can forgive them but you don't have to to heal forgiveness isn't mandatory they'll tell you it's mandatory what I have learned it's not mandatory Bridget's a very loving human being she was a very caring person right but she was always filtering through her atmospheric conditions which was interfering with her ability to stay so her atmospheric conditions were clouding her thought process she couldn't enjoy life as long as she was filtering through that she was living in fear so let's clear up her atmospheric conditions it just so it feels like just two completely different Technologies yeah there's the atmospheric conditions which is a technology and then what we just went through is a different technology which is more designed around removing the intensity of negative emotions yep so that filtering now has changed so we're no longer filtering through the mud MH we took the mud out now it just filters clear yes so now a thought goes through and a thought just goes through right where before the thought would go through what does this mean about me what should I have done I like Bridget was always what iing why didn't I do this or don't you wish we never met that person or don't you wish that never happened don't you and I go why do you want to think that way but that was her mind was always trying to fix things always thinking about how could it have been better how could it have been different couldn't have been any different the atmospheric conditions is a conscious process you have to go through well it's unconscious as well so you may not even realize how your atmospheric conditions right are are filtering you may not even realize that your mind's filtering through those atmospheric conditions sure I guess and if you're looking at somebody hurt you right and you can't get the forgiveness but you can get the understanding right as a conscious process yeah to say I wonder what this person went through so that they became this kind of person yep and we're not okay with it we're not letting them off the hook right we're just saying I get it right of course they would be angry right right and it's a conscious process that you have to go through to get to that point and then your subconscious will accept it as well okay yep and so that's where the healing so that totally healed Bridget she just needed to get to that cuz she kept thinking I'm not a good good person if I don't forgive my father right what kind of a person doesn't forgive their father no you don't have to forgive him he's a bad person he was a very nasty person he hurt you and hurt your family right he's never felt like he you know didn't anything wrong so that's not a guy that really needs forgiveness he doesn't think he did anything wrong he thought he was a great dad right but he wasn't he totally just ran Havoc through that family they all had their own problems right Bridget came out the best yeah luckily but I think luckily for her also I had a an influence a moderate influence you know at a critical point in her life when she was 18 yeah so that was able to big big help but the others didn't get that so Evan what we're going to do now we we talked about DNA one of the things that we're doing is a DNA study we're showing um how much not the DNA but the gene expression changes is when the nervous system gets into regulation there it is I'm very scared and so so Evan has bravely agreed right to draw lots of blood right from his finger I have to prick my finger and then squeeze out the blood onto this card which I'm not happy with but we're going to do it this is like a Dexter kind of program you're going to see sheets all over we're going to plastic sheets okay so I'm going to open this up but but what is this what are we measuring here here so what we're going to be doing is going to be putting blood spots so it's actually going to they're going to take the DNA from the blood and we're going to measure this is you know before we're making all the changes so we're going to measure what your DNA is reading the way it's read and transcribed now and then 30 days from now we're going to have you do this again okay right and so then they're going to show the comparison and what has changed okay and what we should start to see changing are certain genes so the neuroplasticity genes the neurotransmitter genes even uh mitochondria those kinds of things will start to change when the nervous system comes into regulation and over the next 30 days you're going to be training your brain right to stay in that state and so we'll see the measurement and what happens and how much it affects your health this is not my favorite thing to do Don but uh we're going to do it so if this becomes a traumatic event we're going to clear it right I know the guy yeah I know the guy to do it I have where's the cart I got a I got to fill this with my blood by squeezing it on it's killing me I didn't do the viome thing because it required a blood prick like a little tiny blood prick yeah I didn't do it it just sat on my shelf forever so really you don't have a choice now you're now your entire audience is checking you out I think they know that I don't like blood stuff but it's fine we'll do it we do difficult things yep okay I pre my hand I needed to wipe my finger with this alcohol prep pad yep incorrect Sample When there's insufficient blood y so it's got to be filled up filled up filled up how many of these have you guys done now well this is new this is a new thing that we're doing this yes oh I'm part of the I'm the first in the stud part study wow okay great let's get the Band-Aid ready I'm going to need that for sure there we go okay bandaid is ready Gau pad is ready this you know which finger you're going to use well I'll use the I think I'm going to go left side I said to use the side of the finger so you're not not as yeah not as many nerve endings yeah okay so let's uh what finger they using the index finger okay perfect this is exciting yeah and then we're going to get the results of your DNA after it comes back to see what changed and then you're going to give me 30 days of audio files yep that you'll be listening to which is going to constantly be modifying your system right okay let that try once a fingertip is dry twist the lancet's blue top to remove the cap okay well I can do that while it's drying oh it's like I like

Dr. Wood explains that what we often think of as self-sabotage is actually our brain's survival mechanism at work. He walks us through his unique process designed to help high achievers, like entrepreneurs and athletes, overcome the lingering effects of past trauma to perform at their highest level.
Dr. Wood shares powerful stories of individuals he has helped, including a successful entrepreneur who struggled every fourth quarter due to childhood memories of his father’s financial instability. By uncovering these subconscious triggers, Dr. Wood's methods have enabled his clients to break free from their limitations. He emphasizes the importance of staying present and reprocessing traumatic memories to eliminate their emotional charge, allowing for greater clarity and performance in daily life.
We dive deep into the science behind how our brains work and how unresolved trauma can manifest as physical health issues. Dr. Wood shares his own personal journey, including how his wife, Bridget, and daughter, Ashley, were impacted by trauma and how his program helped them heal. Through this conversation, you'll gain insights into understanding your own triggers and learn how to unlock your full potential by addressing the root causes of your limitations.
