Full Transcript
What we're doing is um we've built a robot um a bunch of consumable tools and a whole load of software that allows a surgeon to roll out of bed at 2 am in their pajamas and treat pretty much anyone remotely around the world um who's suffering from one of these cardiovascular conditions immediately. >> And so so you've built it's it's I tried to find photos online. I couldn't quite find photos. I don't know if that's by design or but it's it's it's a literal robot. I mean how big is this thing? It's a literal robot. Um, it it's relatively long, but it's quite light. >> Okay. What does it look like? Like just like explain it to us. >> Yes, of course. It's um it's quite long. It's quite light. It controls these things called catheterss that are long floppy tubes um and guide wires. And basically the robot's job is to snake these long floppy tubes up through your blood vessels into your head or into your heart and treat conditions. Right? So, u basically the robot itself is quite simple, but it's controlling these long floppy tools that that really um are kind of get you to where you need to go within the blood vessels and then help you treat whatever condition the patient's suffering
Original Description
Remedy Robotics CEO David Bell explains the company's mission to provide access to time-critical, specialist care for conditions like stroke and heart attack. He details the remote-controlled robot, which performs minimally invasive endovascular surgery by snaking long, thin tools through a patient's blood vessels. Bell also breaks down the business model, which aims for affordability by selling the robot for a relatively cheap cost and generating revenue from single-use consumable tools.
