hey guys welcome back I'm Ricky and this is Jim and today we are going to talk about how we make all sorts of money with Amazon affiliate products on our niche websites so let's dive right into that this is our favorite way to monetize the site this way it's the easiest it's super Union we have ads and info products and all kinds of stuff but usually when we're picking a topic a major part of the analysis is how's it gonna do on Amazon because if you have traffic you can put ads on it some are gonna be worth more than others but Amazon you really got to nail the niche right if you want it to work as an Amazon site but it's it's the easiest way to make it a niche website actually passive mmm but earn good income so ads just do not perform nearly as well as Amazon affiliate products yeah if it's a good niche so our example our goal is and it's not even a stretch goal at all it's really just what we expect from a niche site is if we can get 30,000 pageviews we expect to earn at least $1,000 a month from Amazon Associates only you know could have lots of other sources of income we want to earn $1,000 a month from 30,000 page views and we feel like that's very attainable for most niches within one year all right then one year you make the content and it's earning a thousand dollars a month and that's not working on every day for a year that's just making it in a couple months and then letting it passively sit slowly girl yep so here's an example of one of ours this is camp report.com we've talked about this before but we want to take you further in depth today these are our actual earnings from Amazon exactly one year in so we spent I don't know 45 days writing the content on this website I just got a new RV and so I decided I was gonna make a niche site about it I wrote the content maybe 35 articles on there somebody asked more like 25 and it's really just out there I haven't logged in to this website in months mm-hm so here are our earnings come with me the year are our actual Amazon so what you see right here under the summary is that we earned 1,300 $56.95 last month and you'll see in red are the clicks the number of people we got to click from our website over to Amazon so it looks like it's about 200 a day 200 people a day are clicking from our website to hear and we're selling about how to know what the average is maybe 25 to 35 remember around 30 products a day yeah because it's yeah it's variable here but yeah so then so that's good but now let's look at what's actually selling by the way nobody would be willing to share this content when you look at other like how to earn money online gurus they don't even tell you what their niches are cuz they're so secretive no one else would be so we're gonna show you what the actual items are that people are ordering and we're gonna sort it by the advertising fee so our number one affiliate product here is a generator and we sold four of those we have just one review of a generator and it earned 273 so you know that's whatever maybe 20% of the website's earnings were from one article what does that tell us we'll write more articles about generators but lots of other things I mean vacuums and hose kits and toilet brushes and wheel chocks and all kinds of stuff but you see the big earners you know if we look at the top 10 items there probably makes up about 50% of the total earnings of the website so that's that's a that's it that's like the keys to the kingdom right there of our niche site that's exactly how this one is earning money okay all right so now let's talk about how we find the right kind of products the best kind of affiliate products so I guess there's a kind of a few things that go into that first of that first of all is the price if you link to products that are very inexpensive like a lot of people want to review books and I've gotten that a lot yeah I have to offer that a $10 book on a what four or five percent commission is gonna earn you 50 cents in a few nickels yeah I mean that's it and if you I mean if you just remember some of the numbers that you saw some of those products were having you know maybe three four hundred clicks and selling 20/20 products so yet three or four hundred people to click on a book for fifty cents apiece but only sell 20 of them well 20 times if you've made maybe ten bucks okay I mean it's just not substantial and so the ideal price range for products that we like to link to on Amazon is kind of one hundred and fifty dollars plus if you get too pricey much over three four five hundred dollars then you start getting into items that people think about a lot more they tend to be more wish list items that people are gonna research for longer and if they don't purchase within 24 hours the the Amazon cookies gone you don't get the Commission anymore so yeah and I think this is a little bit of an anomaly I was a little surprised that this one did well the gist is the price yeah it's a pricey thing so somebody's gonna look at it they're gonna put them in the wish list and think for a while so I'm surprised that one's done when I only sold four in the last 30 days compared to other products that we sold twenty some of those products we sold twenty of though are fifty dollar products and so it balances out a little bit so having a few products in the higher price ranges is okay but what really tends to do well is kind of one hundred and fifty two three or four hundred dollars and when we're talking about the price range for items we're not saying only do you know only link to products that are really expensive and that kind of stuff we linked all kinds of stuff if there's a product we like we link to it if there's a product we don't like tits in a perfect price bracket we don't link to it we're just linking to the stuff we like but what we are concerned with is when somebody wants to do a book review site and as an Amazon as an Amazon affiliate they're gonna do you just have to make sure whatever niche you're gonna go into there are some things that are $150 plus exactly and you know I mentioned the the too high price range there's a little bit more to that as well not not just the too high of a price range but the types of items that people are likely to buy today so there are 50 dollar items that I'm still gonna kind of either hmmm how over or or it's just kind of a nice to have I'm not gonna buy it you know if it's a toy for my kids and it's a hundred and fifty dollars I'm probably gonna think more about that maybe buy it for Christmas present unless I have a lot of disposable income so it's it's gonna vary a little bit on the niche and on the type of item so think about that when you're when you're linking to items is this something people are likely to buy right now while they're researching it on my site or is it something that they're gonna think about maybe put it as a wishlist item maybe put it off for another day mm-hmm so yeah so you just want to make sure that the type of website is even going to be fit with it the other thing you want to make sure is that you're in the right categories so I'll pull this up while I'm talking Amazon has different categories for four in four different products and they all get a different affiliate Commission so if you're in the computer so you're like oh yeah I'm gonna review laptops genius you only get what I think it's like 1.5 percent yes so even if it's a two thousand dollar laptop it's just not that much we make more on the six hundred dollar generator yeah so it's something to watch before you start your website just Google Amazon Associates Commission rates and you want to look at that fee schedule just take a look and you'll get an idea for some that are just ones you shouldn't go for but most are going to be just fine you just want to be careful of a few of these that are lower you know if you're making your niche site about Amazon giftcards will surprise the B structure is 0% you get nothing or wine 0% keep so pcs PC components that's actually two and a half but that's still way on the low is still tough yeah that's just you gotta make a lot of sales you wanna do something with fashion that's 10% that's really category to be in outdoors is special it's five and a half percent but general categories are four percent toys are a little bit last TVs or low at 2% just take a look of it at it and at least be aware that not every category is gonna get the same percentage there exactly alright so now let's get a little bit into the not too deep into it but a little bit more than nuts and bolts so we want to talk a little bit about how we go about setting up links first of all we do this in a very very simple manner okay don't get fancy with this we we use some some plugins to do this for us so really all we do is create a text link to Amazon and our tracking code is automatically input into the the link when they click on it there are various Amazon plugins that do that we most of our sites are using the Amazon what is it an Amazon affiliate link globalize ER it works pretty well there are it's not perfect there downsides to it but it does globalize your links so I can send people to amazon.com or amazon.com so if somebody and new zealand clicks that link they get routed we have you know all we created accounts for all the different amazon programs and it fixes it honestly it's not something to worry about that much the amazon.com is way bigger than anything else even canada in the UK that you know a very strong amazon presence and are you know the kind of country that's gonna buy a lot of stuff it's just not that much money that we get from them so it's just not that big of a deal until you're getting a lot of but the the thing that I think is important is not to get fancy with your links so this is an article I just wrote yesterday on dirt bike planet you know I'm very capable of making a fancy-looking bye button and all kinds of stuff around here but we just use a regular text link and usually I'll say something like you can buy this dirt bike kickstand on Amazon yeah and the text will be this kickstand on Amazon if you just say go get the kickstand and a link they don't know where they're gonna go right they don't know if you're sending them to some other website or if you're going to Amazon or whatever and so I like to say where the link is taking them because people are like Oh Amazon or I'll say you know I got it for a great price on Amazon click here to check the current price and then because you didn't have the price in your review they've got a click to go find it and guess what you got their cookie and it takes an extra three seconds when you set up the link but one of the things that I've started doing when I write articles is when I create the text link I make it so that when that text link is gonna open it in a new tab so I don't kick people off of my website probably do that not something I thought about until recently but it's not gonna be a big deal so we want to go back they just hit back and it'll bring them right back to your website so not a big thing to worry about so
