all right so we kind of have our plan for this year but we wanted to make our plan for 2020 where we want to be just with our passive income websites so this is not income school none of our active stuff this is just the pure passive income part but we have good ways to go to get to a hundred thousand dollars each month in passive income from just the niche websites so the paper reported solidifying what we have are we missing out on the opportunity to plant a seed now that could start earning income pretty soon in 2019 I think we might be I what I don't what I don't want to do is we get so focused on planting new seeds that we don't take care of the seeds that are in the ground so there's definitely some work we need to do on our existing sites to get them where they need to be but on the other hand they're probably not that far off I think that if you take the three sites we have today that are the primary sites we're working on so that's not counting any of the other kind of little stuff we've sort of abandoned but if we talk about tamper report dirt bike planet and cabin freedom I don't think those three sites get us 200,000 if we leave them as totally passive niche sites not within a year and a half and I think that the work that we need to do on those is probably something that we'll have done by the fall of 2018 right yeah yeah I think really in the next few months and and our goals where we got we've got to get camper report up to at least 5,000 a month I mean there's just no reason it shouldn't be there already we just we just have left the monetization on that for too long and and it's I mean I've been impressed been really happy with the income but not it can do way better alright for the amount of traffic it gets dirtbike planet is really starting to take off here with the spring and so there there are definitely good things happening but I just like it yeah like that I just I don't see those three websites totally passively equaling $100,000 in 2020 so when do we need to have the seeds planted I I don't know and that's $100,000 a month so I don't know I'm kind of tempted maybe we need to schedule in one niche site maybe two niche sites that we at least complete the 60 steps on you know the project 24 5 60 steps at least complete those sometime in 2000 2018 I mean it doesn't take that long to plant the seed just get those 30 articles up yep I agree so and I think that as we do that we're gonna want to be strategic about what what niches we choose so camp a report and dirt bike planet especially are really really seasonal dirt bikes even has an even shorter season I think than campers we didn't see this last minute we didn't seem necessarily a huge dip in traffic but we saw a huge dip in buying so our affiliate income drops off substantially I think our advertisement income will drop a little bit but not a lot which is good that helps reduce the seasonality but as we pick new niches we need to pick things that either have an inverted season you know something that's more fall winter spring or we need to pick something that's not seasonal at all which would be my preference yeah and I would go for not seasonal seasonal at all as well but the one thing we do kind of have going for us is those are all three outdoors websites yes and and that's a liability because outdoors is mostly a summer thing except that you know we've mentioned before what if we create one YouTube channel for all three of those websites and call it you know adventure man or whatever we had talked about okay one YouTube channel because then we can grow up that subscriber base and push any website we create in the outdoors if we if we abandon that then we lose that that really nice benefit of being able to promote any new website from that established YouTube channel I mean established it's not established now we don't have it exists yet but camp report has seven thousand subscribers on it than a YouTube which isn't huge but it's something and so it's a good start yeah yeah and so if we just change the name of it and stuff I don't know it could be pretty cool I like that idea I like the idea of sticking with the outdoor space so what we'll want to do then is find a niche or two like you said that are outdoors but then are either less seasonal or have an inverted season without doors it's hard to not have any seasonality because things are either a winter sport or a summer sport you know what I'm hiking so hiking is good you do see a drop-off I think in the winter but not as much because you can hike even when it's cold whereas you're you're not gonna do you're not gonna you're not gonna pull a trailer if there's a chance of some snow but you can still hike you know what I mean you're not gonna go dirt biking if there's ice on the ground but you can still go hiking so I think it gets got a much longer season some people do hike in the winter and you could have we could create content that also targets those topics really well so that when winter comes around I think that'll help there are a lot of winter and snow sports but those have a really short season I don't know if we want to invest the time to make a skiing website right that's how that's how I as I thought the same thing I thought we could do a scheme website which I actually know is not that competitive because I checked when my kids needed snowboard bindings Forte and like I just couldn't find information it was crazy but again like I think we would kind of just be over correcting their like trying so hard to normal out and normalize our revenue throughout the year then we pick a niche that's just really short and that's done we should just just yeah plan that it's gonna go down a little bit in the winter exactly the problem yeah for sure the problem with doing the inverse seasonality is yeah maybe we stabilized our revenue but we've now had to create two websites do the work of two full websites to earn the income of one good website that has no seasonality yeah saying it that's what it would take is two good websites essentially to equal one or two seasonal websites to equal one non seasonal website so I don't know we can we think about that and maybe we don't need to pick the niche today but I think that's going to be important part of our strategy to get to 100,000 a month in passive website income oh yeah so again you're right we probably don't even need to get into the details of the niche profit I've got to just say we've always talked about an archery archery website yeah we've been doing every forever and archery can totally be around a lot of people do a lot of indoor archery year-round boating is another one I've been looking at boats on Craigslist again but that one's that one is a very short season zip it it's gotta be but because I meant money on their boats oh yeah that's the that's the old style of thinking now that's thinking about how come on you know thinking that we're gonna monetize it with Amazon and now we're seeing ads being a better earner than Amazon is so right so that's we need to be thinking more about the traffic yeah okay so good look I mean do we do we pick a niche that is just gonna get loads and loads and loads of traffic because it's high interest and fairly low competition yes you're right we've talked about this before this would be outside of our outdoors thing but what about like we make a website on just how much does stuff weigh over net worth of celebrities those are two different websites we've talked about before we've never built anything like that before usually we pick topics you know pick a hobby kind of thing our websites but those could be interesting the problem that I have is with both Google's gonna give you a snippet you know you search Dave Ramsey's net worth and it gives you a snippet and it says you know he's worth whatever it's article yeah but do you think people would still click in because I don't know I I searched that at one point Dave Ramsey's net worth and I and the answer ad was just silly it was just so far off and so as I listened to the show and I don't listen like every week but but as I do listen to the show I've just taken notes at little hints he's dropped yeah and like I don't know I've just kept notes on it because I die uh-huh that could be a sweet website you know what if every article is called something like Dave Ramsey's net worth and pictures of his house or something like that okay people would still click in on the article even though there was a snippet if yeah if there's something more to it because if it's just oh it's answering the net worth then there's some percentage of that traffic and that percentage is going to go up where the people are getting the answer directly from Google or Syria Alexa you know and they're never even going to see the post because they're asking their device and the device is reading them the snippet and then there's another percentage of people that search it on their phone or whatever and see the snippet yeah well you'd have to have some additional hook like that and pictures of the house or something like that yeah so well this is an interesting example yeah there is a little bit of a snippet but I actually don't see like a direct article of well there's one Dave Ramsey night worked from bankrate.com okay there's a little bit but I I think we could rank on that like us a piece of cake this is like a 500 word article this is a joke yeah so so it would be pure ads there's no way to monetize this website other than ads nobody's right by an info product nobody's gonna buy Amazon products on this this would have to be just pure ads but it's okay that's the most passive way to do it yeah my other concern with that is is that gonna be the type of site that we can write 30 posts and leave it or is it gonna be something where we always have to be keeping up with who the celebrities people care about today and and as their net worth changes over time do we need I mean I don't know I guess we're not gonna go track with your network perfectly but but we do want to you know Dave Ramsey's net worth will be different five years from now I don't know and the celebrities people care about will be different five years from now so is the content evergreen enough yeah that's a good question so let's take David Archuleta singer I don't know how much is his Network changed in the last five years not that much and I mean you were just giving a guess anyway it's not like we're sorting through there quick flex or something I guess I guess my evergreen comment is more about do people care as much about David Archuleta now as they did five years ago yeah and that's a question and I think if we pick you know people like Kanye West it's gonna be too competitive yeah for sure but but you're right if it's guys like Dave Ramsey Dave Ramsey's got his fan base and that fan base is gonna be consistent for years to come so I guess if you picked the right celebrities I think it would work I think the content will be evergreen enough yeah I'm talking about like c-level celebrities people think I don't even consider a celebrity but just well-known people right um you know you're not gonna see Dave Ramsey walking down the red carpet David Archuleta sort of but they're kind of see us celebrities and so I think there would be less competition but still you know lots of people interested in it no that's a cool idea okay I think we bended that pretty well I think we could make that work okay so but the and then the other thing is if we're talking about pure ads this Web site is going to make nickels until it gets too serious traffic until we can get premium ads around 100,000 page views a month you know it has 30,000 page views we can start doing media fine but it's low and then as soon as you get that hundred thousand suddenly skyrockets because you can get two premium ads right so you're looking at a year of a year before it even matters right which we wait the website like that I feel pretty confident that we could get traffic a lot faster than some others that's like a pure traffic kind of website yeah okay so let's just guess that we're gonna do that one or the how much things weigh whatever but the how much things weigh I think there's just even less likelihood of people going past the snippet all right so we go with the net worth just for now maybe we want to do signing out billers how are we gonna build this how we're gonna plant this seed soon but not so this so that it can start to grow without losing focus on our business goals for 2018 which again is to just dig amount yeah well can they see this up substantially by maybe we take the time to do the keyword research pick the celebrities man it's gonna take some time to actually do the research because a lot of these guys it's smelling it's like you can just google it and find the answer right that's why we're make us why we're doing it yeah so it's gonna take a little bit of research but if we're talking about doing 1350 of these celebrities you know do we just I don't know you can have freelance writers we could I bet we could get lists from like you know paparazzi photographers and stuff we'll have lists of you know where celebrities celebrities live and stuff we can't exactly sure how to find a bleep and find it I know like IMDB Pro you can find that kind of information on there like it addresses and stuff okay what if we made our list of celebrities we could get to as some kind of service like that and then use like Zillow to at least get their Z estimate for what the house is worth at least that they live in so that we have at least some data that's not just a total gas right okay all right so so how are we gonna do it how could how can we plant this seed without getting distracted well that's what I'm thinking is if we can make the list you know we do the keyword research figure out which celebrities are gonna be the best for us to target target writing about put a target number our hit list writing list man we're gonna get flagged if we ever put this video out somewhere um no I but if we do the keyword research that's gonna take a little bit of time but we're talking a couple of days maybe right between the two of us then there's I don't know can we outsource this writing can we yeah I know using the writing services so much the ones where you just say I want these 50 articles and then a month later you get your 50 articles I don't know I don't love that those as much yes but that could be a cool experiment I mean if they're not be the way that we typically build it but for YouTube and stuff you know maybe that would be really cool content is we try five different article writing services for the entire website like outsource the whole thing we do the keyword research and whatever you know styling the website and that's it just hire out everything else I don't know we've never done that before you take 50 articles give 10 articles to five different writing services exactly we just a niche site yeah we get back we'll see what we get back and if we need to tweak the articles we will but that'll be part of our sort of our review at the end was this writing service was pretty we had to review all their articles this writing service was awesome that could be really cool it would be really cool and again our job is to kind of be guinea pigs for things and see what works so that we can share with people yeah so that could be cool the other one that we've talked about before is what if we just get a group of 10 college students and put them in a room on a Saturday we rent out like a hotel conference room and we just start 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with them and we just make a whole niche site in 24 hours yeah that could be really really cool we have to do that with something and this could be the topic that works so I don't know maybe we built to these types of websites maybe we do they have much things way or something else completely I like it actually we could do it do it both ways and then because we need to kind of know yeah how that's going to work if we should have a team of local writers which we've talked about we've talked about renting office space and have like full-time employees that are just writers um and building that to a huge team of just mass producing niche sites because then we could control how things are written all that we find an article right writing service that could handle this for us so that would kind of be a little litmus test and kind of just see if the any of the article writing services can give us what we what we know works yeah okay so that's an idea for either two sites or one big site I don't know you know one site that's got half the articles written by them half the articles written by a local team that's a better idea I like that idea better just do one website yeah with both because then it makes that if we did the Net Worth website it would it would make a lot more it would help us to get to that 100,000 page view as much faster obviously right having a lot of and if it you know if we did okay it hovered around 40,000 page views and plateaued then we don't really reach our goal at all we've probably get to over thousand page views otherwise it's just not even worth bothering okay I like that that's a good eye for that one I'd still think though that and maybe it's maybe we wait maybe it's more like this fall maybe we pick them another hobby one that you and I can work on but what about our existing sites what I mean what do we need to do to get them where they need to be well the things you've done on Cabot on camper report are definitely helpful I mean getting that team of writers their cabin or camper report is just kicking butt it's doing awesome trip bike plan it is doing really well I've been surprised that there wasn't more of a ramp now that it's the spring it seemed to I mean it has gone up but not as much of a shot up as I would have guessed there would be random but I we just I think we need 35 articles on there maybe even just 30 articles depends if we hit a winner or not yeah to get us to that hundred thousand page views we're already more than halfway there we just got to get that last little bit and then I think that's a $5,000 a month website - okay yeah then cabin freedom is is just kind of still in early stages I started that one last fall I didn't get I got 250 articles in December so I'm not surprised that a lot of them aren't doing better I've got several that are that are ranking in the top view on Google for various keywords which is great it may just be that the search volumes for those are not super high but let's see it's I mean it's doing fine for its age we've kind of talked about what we need to do with this one I'm gonna take it through a full project 24 so even though it's already got 50 posts on it I haven't done any YouTube and what we'll do is we'll use the the outdoors YouTube channel to build this we create that channel I'll I'll make the YouTube videos we do in project 24 but I gotta write 10 of each kind of post and get them on this thing it's in the foot yeah we shot ourselves in the foot with dirt bike planet and camper poor I'm captain freedom by doing that hundred articles in a hundred days challenge because they all ended up as response post because we were just trying to hurry yeah so yeah we need to do and I need to do the same on on dirt bike planet just do a full full project 24 plan on that one okay so that gets then we would have I think by the end of this year I mean camper report is killing it already it's gonna be in the 150,000 page page view arranged or more and I think dirt bike planet is well I think it can hit a hundred thousand page views this year if we write the content relatively soon yeah and cabin freedom it's a much much newer site I'm thinking maybe fifty thousand we could get it to by the end of this year yeah I think that's right so those are three really solid websites they'll definitely be a big piece of that hundred thousand dollars a month income yeah but even if they were doing ten to fifteen each that doesn't even get us to half right and so I think we need to get these up to the point I don't know well that maybe there's a discussion for another day we first we just got to get them up there but once each of these sites is earning $5,000 a month I mean what I'm tempted to do is to just hire somebody full-time to build that one website for us yeah you know take your full-time job is camper report calm right because then somebody can build it to thirty thousand dollars a month but just as a full passive websites kind of tough to get there okay yeah I would agree with that as a passive website and that's the thing is a passive website can easily run five to ten thousand dollars a month within a year or two uh-huh which is a great income for somebody right I mean right now he's got a big goal 600,000 dollars a year that's a great income for somebody but but we have loftier goals that's a website right so so I think to get there keeping them totally passive and maintaining a whole bunch of them without any sort of employee to help us is probably unrealistic right because then it doesn't all have to be passive we have somebody to do it and so if they want to do an info product a membership website whatever like that is open but for us we just don't have that we can't manage five membership sites and stuff no websites so anyway it's an idea and I guess we could just take one of them and try that and see how it goes yeah that's probably a good idea the other thing is hiring for that is not easy I mean I've tried for years to find the right person for improved photography to replace me and it's like it's you know I can do it because I've done it for ten years and I learned the skills a little bit over time but essentially what you need is you need somebody who's a world-class photographer you need somebody who's a great writer you know will be writing constantly on there who's a great manager you're gonna be managing a team of 20 20 riders on there somebody who is very proficient with WordPress and technical stuff who can edit video who knows marketing it's a co who does that hey like it was a pretty special skill set of knowing on how to do a lot of those different things there's no like a college degree that you can say oh yeah he has an internet marketing degree is ready to go so that's a good point um we could hire somebody to build by Kemper report and maybe we do maybe we try that out for a year or something but the other point is getting the right person might not be realistic and if that's the case then do you just build up three or four websites to five thousand or so and then you hire a web site manager slash writer and you hire video editor you know rather than hire each run a website you rather you hire four people to each do their thing they're good at yeah that may be that illiterate a lot more manageable yeah that's probably a lot more manageable cuz we could use a full-time Video Editor now right we don't keep them busy absolutely another question I know cuz video editing falls on me right now okay okay so we need to pencil in a date to make our website and maybe we'll think of something different than that worth I don't know but I think that would be kind of a fun one yeah I think it'd be a cool experiment and then we do it two ways you know with the writing service and local people and that's kind of our litmus test to how we're gonna outsource more writing in 2019 so what month are we gonna get on this well it is early May I think we need the rest of this month to work on the things we're working on yeah and June I'm moving yes just keeping up with the YouTube videos is gonna be enough and write in so I don't know maybe it late July or something we we pick a day to do this okay and then so in the meantime that allows us to keep working we're working on the boat no but we keep talking about digging around our current business including income school stuff and it gives me time to work on my project 24 4 cabin freedom yeah 60 steps and all the other things
