welcome to science from superheroes to climate change you've made it this far so you obviously have some interest in science questions you might be asking yourself are how can I become a superhero do those superpowers really work or maybe questions closer to home do I really want to take this new medicine will it make me feel better or will make me sicker I listen to those commercials in the list of this bad side effects are almost longer than the pains I currently have how do I make decisions about science and the media whether it's just watching movies or listening to important things about medicine of the future this course is designed to help you make those decisions as you experience this course we're basically I can take you through three different things the process of science whata scientists really do not just that simple little scientific method you learn back in grade school but real scientists working together in teams solving real problems the second stage is we're going to tackle head on everyone's scary a subject math we're going to give you the phrase book you need as if you're going to a foreign country so you can navigate the math that makes it into the newspaper no longer will you have to be afraid of reading math will give you the secret code book to decode it all and then finally what you've all been waiting for how do you actually design your own superhero we'll look at the science behind superpowers so you can understand the big concepts in science at a level that you need to be able to apply them to those challenging questions about which medicine will really make you feel better so these are the three parts of the course they're all very exciting we weave it together at the end as we address the big challenges facing our society anything from climate change to new medical procedures two things face in your everyday life so hopefully you'll take this course you'll learn a lot and you'll have a lot of fun doing it
