Microeconomics with Richard McKenzie

hi I'm Richard McKenzie I've been a professor in the Mirage business schools for a number of years and I've taught economics during all of those uh years I have also developed a uh online video lecture course uh called microeconomics uh for managers uh this course is made up of 58 uh lectures that range in length from 20 minutes to 35 minutes and average in length about 20 uh 8 minutes the course is a full package it includes not only uh the lectures which constitute a complete M microeconomics course but it it also includes self tests for students who want to check their their understanding of the lectures and it also includes um uh tests for those who want a certification credit this course can is useful or can be used by any number with any number of textbooks uh but it is welld designed for my own textbook in microeconomics in this course I intend to uh provide uh economic theory but it will not be a theory for Theory sake I know that the people watching this course are interested in business and so we will be trying to explain how economic theory uh can be used uh in business decision making and in fact must be used I will explain as so many courses in economics do uh how policies like rent controls and minimum wages uh affect uh Market outcomes but I will also go further and explain how business people must respond to such policies as rent controls and uh uh minimum wages I will explain how competitive markets and products will affect business decisionmaking but I will also explain how competitive market for firms that is how takeover artists uh will also constrain a business decision I will go into how debt and Equity can affect uh a business decision-making and especially debt which can give rise to something called moral hazard a concept you will uh come to know uh which was at the foundation of the uh Great Depression uh I have provided again a complete course uh there's more to it than what I can uh explain in this uh short introduction uh I look forward to having you with me and going on and educational journey of a lifetime
