[Applause] put my head in my mind I behind hey guys so this is kind of a beginner video uh for those who are a little bit confused whether you need to Android or just customizing your device in general and you don't know what the hell is going on when I've been showing my other videos this kind of just to step back to basics and kind of um give you a clue on what's actually going on so what you saw me swiping through there that's called a uh home screen and um it's kind of where you base all your apps applications and um that's what you really want to customiz in uh on your phone so uh stock standardly most phones have um a UI that's laid over by their um uh manufacturer so Samsung has touch wh which is what you normally see HTC has HTC cents and Motorola has Motorola Blur Etc so um you know when you first get the phone um that's what you'd normally see but then you'd want to install some apps which I'm disabling here so you can uh see how my phone looks like stock which your phone should kind of look like if you have a Samsung phone the HTC phones will be different but anyway so the two uh main applications you want to install is ADW X launcher and uh widget locker so I've just stopped both of them and then now you'll see when I go to my home uh I get a selection of which home I want to choose so I choose TouchWiz and now you'll kind of see that it is um pretty much stock standard and what uh you normally have on your uh Samsung phone so this is what you'll when you get the phone you'll probably notice this is pretty much how it looks like so um and that wallpaper was a live wallpaper so I'll just get rid of that to really show you um uh you know what what the phone looks like when you first get it so um so if you're season veteran with Android uh you probably don't have to watch the rest of this video you probably know all of this already but um you know never know you might learn something so yeah that's the stock standard um touch with unlock screen which you will replace with widget locker later um and now when I select the home button you'll see that you get a uh selection of things called launchers now launchers are what you use to customize your home screen um so you have different launchers for um you know different kind of Transitions and different effects and icons and stuff so touch is the standard one and this launcher is called ADW as I described earlier so this video is kind of um you know to show you the basics of what everything is but how to actually customize it I'll put some uh video links in the description so you can actually do it and customize it exactly how I have it so um onto widget locker so this is the uh modified unlock screen now so instead of just uh having that little thing that you slide across um with a circle now you can slide to unlock and you have text on the top which um I'll also put another video in the description on how to customize it to look just the way I have it as well so um these things here these are things called widgets and uh widgets are little applications or um shortcuts well shortcuts or applications that you can have on your home screen so basically say I want a clock I can choose the size of that clock and put it down just there and you can also drag any widgets that you have around so um once again I'll put a uh link to a uh list of the widgets and everything I have on my phone which I I have made a video already so um you know when you don't want a widget you just kind of um hold on it and uh drag it over to a little bin that does appear and um or you can just remove it like that so it's quite simple you know you just get the widgets that you want and U put them on your screen and uh the last piece to this puzzle if you will is um the live wallpaper so this is quite a big bit on um customizing your phone um you know the the one that I use is multi-live wallpaper as you've probably heard me say many of times and um you know that one's the one that has multiple pictures on each home uh screen so you know you have different home screens you may have five to seven home screens so each one of these is a home screen that one with the grass is a home screen that flower one is a home screen and also you know that one with the uh cap was a home screen as well so each one of these home screens have different uh wallpapers which also show up on the lock screen so you know it's got the grass there which you had on that lock screen so um and that 3D you actually see is the combination of ADW ex launcher along with um the multi-live wallpaper Cube transition effect so all of this obviously I've got a link in the description on how to do this but you know this is just kind of letting you know what's actually going on with the phone so um when you want to when you're done with uh customizing your um launcher you can set it to the default and uh click on it and then now when every time you hit the home screen you get a kind of HTC Sense overview instead of uh option of which launcher to choose so um yeah that's uh kind of the basics you know wallpapers are a big part of uh of customizing so you know there's a whole heap of them and yeah I encourage you to have a look around and see what kind of things you like you know there's um this live beach one which I've talked about before which kind of just makes your phone kind of like a little beach but anyway that you know that just not not very practical but just you know once again customizing and fun things to do so you know basically this video hopefully you learned something from it and um you know so if you're brand new to Android don't know what is going on you can uh obviously um take a look at this and hopefully you got something from it so that's
