So, here's something that doesn't make sense on the surface. The most successful expertise-based business owners I work with have tiny audiences. We're talking a few hundred subscribers, maybe a thousand. And yet, they're fully booked. Meanwhile, I see business owners with 10, 20, even 50,000 followers who never become paying clients. Freeloaders. What's going on there? Well, it turns out that if you're an expert of any kind trying to get clients from social media, you're playing a game that was never meant for businesses like yours to win. But, there's a different game you can play, one that doesn't need you to post every day, keep up with the trends, or sell your soul to the algorithm. And today, I'm going to break down exactly how this anti-social media strategy is blowing up businesses like yours. And look, I'm not saying social media is evil or that it doesn't work for anyone. It can, if you're selling t-shirts or coffee mugs, or you're trying to become a famous creator, sure, play the algorithm game. But, that's not you, is it? You sell your expertise, your brain, your ability to solve a specific problem for a specific type of person. People scrolling Instagram at 10:00 p.m. aren't [music] in buying or really even in learning mode. They're in distraction mode. They're killing time between commercials on Hulu. They're not thinking, "You know what I need right now? A bookkeeper or business advice or a therapy session." And even if your content catches their attention for a second, what happens 24 hours later? They've already forgotten about it. You're starting from scratch tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. So, you end up on this treadmill where the algorithm constantly demands more, you know, more posts, more reels, more stories, just to stay visible. And that's not even counting the fact that you're building on a platform you don't own. One algorithm change, one suspension, one hack, and years of your hard work can just vanish overnight. So, this is Stephanie Case. She's an online business coach, and early in her career, she built a photography business through nothing but pure grinding social media hustle. We're talking 50 to 60-hour weeks just to keep up with posting and her following up on the engagements that she got. Then, in 2018, she started a YouTube channel, which seemed to be getting her better results. So, by 2022, she made a decision. She was going to prioritize YouTube and step back from all the other social media posting. Here's what happened. [music] Her coaching business hit multi six figures for the first time ever, and she was working about 20 hours a week, down from 60, making more money, not less. And YouTube is still her number one lead generator. Unlike an Instagram post that dies in a day, her YouTube videos keep working for her for years. And she thinks of every video she makes as evergreen marketing tools that consistently [music] bring in new audiences, new email leads, and new sales even when she's not working. So, what made the difference for Stephanie? It's where her audience was coming from. So, think about your own behavior for a second. When you have a real problem, something that's actually bothering you, costing you money or time or sanity, what do you do? You don't go scroll on Instagram hoping the answer magically appears in your feed, right? You go after it, and you search. You type a question into Google or onto YouTube. You're looking for a way to fix your problem. That's intent, and your clients, they do the exact same thing. They type things like, "How to get my baby to sleep through the night?" or "How to save money on taxes as a freelancer?" or "How can I fix my lower back pain?" And here's what really hurts. If you're not showing up in those moments, someone else is. So, the question becomes, what if you stopped trying to interrupt people who aren't looking for you and started showing up for the people who are? That's the shift, and once you see it, you can't unsee it. And by the way, if you want the full strategy for how this works, I do have a free masterclass, How to Attract Unlimited Clients Through YouTube. I put the link down in the description. But anyway, this is where a lot of people get stuck. They hear all this, and they think, "Okay, so I need to become a YouTuber now? I need to become a full-time content creator to get clients." But, that's actually not what I'm saying at all. There's a huge difference between being a content creator and being a business owner who uses content for a purpose. And mixing those two up is going to cost you years of heartache. Content creators optimize for things like views [music] and virality, watch time, subscribers. Their whole game is about building the biggest possible audience because that's how they make money, through ads, sponsorships, brand deals. For creators, the [music] content itself is the product. That's not you. You have a service. You have expertise. You need clients, which means you don't need to go viral with millions of views. You don't even need thousands. You only need the right people to find you so they can start to trust you, and then reach out to work with you. And I think a lot of business owners get stuck right here because they think, "Okay, if the point is to win over clients, I need to look super professional, and that means a whole lot of production value, right?" They think they need a fancy camera, a perfect backdrop, professional lighting, hours of editing. They think they need to make it entertaining or have some big personality or post three times a week. So, of course, they get overwhelmed, and they quit before they even start. I don't know what to do. That's kind of what happened with Ashley Tindall. She's a system strategist, and she kept starting and stopping YouTube since 2022 because she believed she needed the perfect setup, the expensive background, the fancy edits. Then, she started paying attention. [music] In coaching community she was in, she saw other business owners getting traction with much more basic setups, just teaching their process, nothing fancy. And she also noticed how her own clients responded [music] strongest when she just kind of explained things simply. The thing people valued wasn't the presentation, it was her way of breaking things down. So, she tested doubling down on that pared-down style, and it worked better so she could keep at it in a much more sustainable way. No frills, just helpful videos for the exact type of person that she wanted to work with. Here's where she is now. 34 videos, just over 200 subscribers, but she's generating consistent leads and sales. People binge her channel, and they buy her templates every single day. That's not influencer success, that's business owner success. And it comes down to the type of attention she was getting. When someone watches, you know, a 10- or 15-minute video of you teaching something, they're invested. They showed up with a problem, they clicked because they thought you might help, and now [music] they're sitting there listening to you think through their exact situation. They're seeing how your brain works. They're getting a feel for your personality, your approach, your values. And that's not just a casual interaction, that's the beginning of a relationship. You know, compare that to a reel. Someone watches for 3 seconds, maybe seven if you're lucky, and then they're gone. They might have liked it, they may have even followed you, but do they trust you? Do they feel [music] like they know how you think? No, because you can't build that kind of trust in 7 [music] seconds. And trust is everything when you're selling your expertise. Nobody hires a coach or consultant or a strategist because of a funny reel they watched. They hire you because [music] they believe you understand their situation and can actually help them get a result. So, long-form content builds that belief. Short-form just doesn't have the space to. Now, here's where people get nervous. Even if they buy everything I've said so far, there's still this nagging fear, "But what about the algorithm? Don't I now just have to post constantly on YouTube to stay visible?" The answer's no, but not because the algorithm doesn't matter. It does. The difference is how you work with it. On social media, you are chasing the algorithm. It's a constantly moving target, and you're always reacting, you know, trying to figure out what it wants today, what trend you should jump on, what time you should post. It can be exhausting because the rules keep changing, and you have zero control. But on YouTube, you can actually teach the algorithm. You can train it to understand exactly who you're for and what you're about. And once it gets that, it starts working for you rather than against you. Here's how that works. The YouTube algorithm really only needs to know two things: Who's this content for, and what's it about? That's it. So, if you make a video for small business owners about email marketing, then the next video is for busy entrepreneurs about meal planning, then another video for freelancers about invoicing, the algorithm has no idea what to do with you. It doesn't know who to show your content to, so it just doesn't. But, if every video you make is focused on the same type of person with the same type of problem, the algorithm figures it out pretty fast. And then it starts doing the heavy lifting, putting your videos in front of more people who look like the ones who are already watching. So, YouTube consistency isn't about frequency of when you post, it's being consistent about what you post. Saro is a dog trainer who actually had a YouTube channel with 71,000 subscribers. Sounds great, right? But, it wasn't really working. You know, the audience that he'd built wasn't his ideal client, and he wasn't getting any real business from it. So, he made a decision that probably sounds crazy. He paused that channel entirely and started a brand new one from scratch. But this time around, he was laser-focused. Every video was specifically for people who wanted his no-treat training methods. No more trying to appeal to everyone with generic dog training content. And that new channel, it's only 3 months old. It's not even monetized yet, but he's getting one to two leads per day from it. [music] He gets four or more sales calls booked every week, and he's already closed three high-ticket clients. He's on track for $10,000 in monthly revenue from a 3-month-old channel. And David Jackson here, he's a local SEO expert, and he also has a fairly new channel. Most of his videos are about general local SEO tactics like how to rank in Google Maps, that kind of thing. His videos do okay, you know, enough to bring in about one new retainer client every month, which translates to an extra $1,500 in monthly recurring revenue stacking up over time. Not bad. But then something interesting happened. He made one video that was way more specific. So, instead of talking to, you know, anyone who wants to rank locally, he made a video specifically for his target market, which is dentists. That video got 1,000 views. That's 14 times his channel average. And that one video alone has brought him at least five clients. Each one pays about $1,500 per month, and his clients typically stay with him for around 18 months. So, do the math. Even if that video stopped getting any more views today, it will still have ended up making him around $135,000 in revenue from one video just because he got specific about exactly >> [music] >> who he was talking to. That's the math that actually matters. Not views, not subscribers, clients. So, I want you to ask yourself, how many clients do you need? Seriously, think about it. Let's say you need 20 new clients this year to hit your revenue goals. That's less than two per month. You don't need a viral hit to get two clients a month, you know? You need to show up consistently for the right people with content that helps them and makes it easy to take the next step. That's it. That's the whole game. And one of my students in the YouTube to Clients Academy is actually a perfect example of this. His name's Dean Linell, and he's a realtor in Whistler, BC, and his channel has about 1,000 subscribers. You know, his videos get maybe 100 to 200 views each. But here's the thing. Every single video he makes is specifically for people looking to buy or sell property in Whistler. That's it. He's not making videos about things to do in Whistler or what does an $8 million mansion in Whistler look like, and he's definitely not making content for other realtors. He's laser-focused on his actual potential clients in his actual market. So now, he's getting two to three solid leads every single week. People literally call him and say, "We've been binging your videos, and we only want to work with you." Not, you know, "We're we're interviewing a few other people, and we'll let you know." They've already decided it's him. He even just landed a $10 million client from this. That is pretty big, right? From a channel with 1,000 subscribers. And here's what makes this approach so powerful over time. Every video that Dean makes doesn't just work once and disappear. It keeps working weeks later, months later, sometimes years later. Think about that for a second. He publishes a video about, you know, top seller mistakes, and that video is still out there, still showing up in search results, still being recommended to people who are actively looking for exactly that information. While he's sleeping, while That's the difference between building a true business asset and renting attention on social. Cuz over there, you pay with your time and energy every single day, and the minute you stop posting, the attention [music] stops. But when you create long-form content on YouTube, you're building something. Every video becomes an entry point into your world. A way for the right person to find you at the exact moment they need what you offer. So, imagine it's 6 months from now. You've published maybe 25 videos. Nothing crazy, just one a week, give or take. Some weeks you missed, that's fine. The point is, you've been showing up consistently for your ideal client. Now, here's what's different about your life. You wake up and check your email, and there's an inquiry from someone you've never spoken to before. They found one of your videos 3 weeks ago while searching for help with the exact problem you solve. They watched that one, then they watched a few more. They binged your channel for an hour, and now they're reaching out because they already feel like they know you, and they're ready to talk about working together. You didn't have to chase them. You didn't have to DM them. They came to you. And while you were on a call with a current client yesterday afternoon, someone else was watching your videos. Someone you're going to hear from next week. Someone who's right now moving through your content, building trust with you, getting closer to reaching out. That's happening all in the background without you doing anything. [music] That's what this looks like. Not overnight success, not viral fame, just a sustainable system that gets stronger the longer you stick with it. But here's the thing. You can have the best videos in the world, but if there's no clear path from I just watched this to I want to work with you, you're leaving a lot of money on the table. So, the way you create what I call your YouTube to Clients Bridge is really simple, but most people never even think about it. First, you just make videos like we talked about that genuinely help your ideal client with real problems. Second, [music] and this is the part that people don't think about, you just want to weave in client stories as you're teaching. Not in a salesy way, just naturally as part of how you explain things. You know, things like, "I was working with a client recently who had this exact problem, and here's what we did." Or, "One of my students tried this approach, and here's what happened." That plants a seed. It tells the viewer without you having to explicitly say it that you actually work with people, [music] right? That you get results. That this isn't just theory, it's what you do. And most business owners are so worried about being too salesy that they never mention they have clients at all. And then, viewers watch their videos, get tons of value out of them, but they have no idea they can actually hire this person. So, don't make that mistake. Third, you just make the path to your website obvious. So, Dr. LeGrand helps people with ADHD, and if you look at his channel page, there's a super obvious link right at the top that goes right to his consultation page. No guessing, no hunting around, it's right there. [music] And he does the same thing in every video description. First link right at the top, here's how to work with me. But here's what's really smart. He doesn't just link to his consultation page. He also links to a free resource that pairs with whatever video you just watched. And that brings us to something important. Not everyone who finds you is ready to hire you today. Some people need more time, more videos, more trust built before they're ready to take that step. And that's okay, that's normal. But you don't want to lose those people either. You don't want them to, you know, watch your video, get free advice, and then ghost you. This is where a lead magnet comes in. So, that's just a free resource, you know, a guide, a checklist, a template, something that gives them a quick win of some kind. They give you their email address in exchange for that resource. And now, you can keep showing up in their inbox with more tips and advice and links to new videos that you made, all building trust over time. And when they are ready to hire someone, you know, when that problem gets painful enough that they need real help, you're already the person they trust. Now, just so you can really see how this works for real expertise-based business owners like you, I want you to watch this video next where I show you five channels that are killing it even without outworking their competition, just keeping things really simple. So, this is how you can dominate in 2026.
