Mid doom scroll and feeling foggy? Let's do a quick reset together. We're going to activate your five senses to help you feel more focused and grounded in your body. It's quick, gentle, and honestly one of the easiest ways I know to shake off that glazed over scroll state and come back to yourself in the present. So, let's start. Wherever you are, just follow along. Start by noticing one thing you can see. Look around and name one thing that you can see that stands out to you in some way. Color, light, texture. It doesn't have to be deep. Just notice it. Say it out loud or in your head. Now bring your focus to something you can physically feel. Your clothes against your skin, the texture of your chair, your feet on the ground, whatever is physically connecting you in this moment. Notice one of those sensations and stay with it for a second. Next, what is one sound that you can hear? Maybe your breath, a fan, traffic outside, the washing machine. I can hear my dog lightly snoring right now. Just notice it and stay with it for a second. Now, smell. Breathe in through your nose. What can you smell? Even if it's subtle or neutral, try to name it. If there's nothing noticeable, take a nice deep breath anyway. Lastly, one thing you can taste. What taste is in your mouth right now? Maybe it's a lingering flavor, like if you've just eaten something or sipped on something or brushed your teeth. Or maybe it's neutral. Take a second and really taste it. And that's it. You just brought your attention out of your scroll and into the now by checking in with all five of your senses. When you tune into your senses, you're pulling your attention out of your head and away from your phone and into your body. It helps you settle any racing thoughts and reconnect you to what's actually happening around you. If you're still feeling off, it might be time to close the app for a bit. Stretch, breathe, grab a snack, let your eyes land on something real. You deserve a break that actually feels like one. If you're into learning a variety of new things, check out the Corsera library.
