So, I had a really good response to the video diary that I did from South by Southwest, and I had a few people uh request that I do more videos like that. Um, so I'm thinking I'm going to start doing a Sunday Sunday vlog um kind of like a video diary of what I learn every week because I feel like I'm learning a lot about life and business um every single week right now. And uh yeah, it's kind of cool to share those little takeaways with you guys and also just to have them for myself to be able to look back on. Um so this week was a little bit challenging and I was feeling really really really burnt out and I don't get to this point very often. I would say it happens once every couple months where I just am mentally, emotionally, physically exhausted. And a lot of it had to do with traveling um and just trying to get back on my feet and back on top of work and emails and all those things. And I'm sure you guys can relate. How do you handle it when you're feeling so overwhelmed you could cry? Uh so I wanted to share my takeaways from this week for how I kind of got through that and um the lessons I learned uh getting back to feeling like my normal self and getting back to feeling like I was on top of things. So kind of break it down into seven Ps. Let me explain. So the first thing uh that I learned is that it's okay to feel really burnt out. It's okay to feel stressed out. It's okay to kind of hit a wall. And I think sometimes I get really stubborn and I just want to power through and continue to work and continue to please everybody in my life and say yes to everything. Um but permission is the the biggest thing I learned this week is giving myself permission to say, "Hey, you're really stressed out. You're really burnt out. Maybe give yourself a second to breathe." Um and to just admit to your weakness um and to being a little vulnerable right now. So owning it and giving myself permission, giving yourself permission to say, "I'm really tired. I'm really stressed out and I just need to get that off my chest." So permission is number one. The second thing is perspective. And this hit me like a ton of bricks. Um, I started to realize that I was putting so much weight on work. And at the end of the day, what matters most to me in my life and what always has mattered most to me in my life is family and friends and joy and being at peace. And so, gaining perspective on the fact that I am not a brain surgeon. Um, I don't save lives on a daily basis. So anything that's going on in my work life is not going to change the world in a day. So I can take a step back from it. Um so gaining perspective on the fact that there are much bigger problems things going on in the world than what might be going on in your individual life. So trying trying to take a step back and gaining perspective on that which sometimes is a little bit difficult to do. So the second P is perspective. The third P is priorities. uh kind of ashamed to admit this, but I also was putting work ahead of the things that matter most to me in life, which I said before, family and friends. And um I barely have time to see my family right now, see my parents. Um and my dad's been asking me to me to go for coffee for about two weeks now, and I haven't been able to see him. that you every week spend 15 minutes, half an hour with your dad. And I value those relationships more than anything. So, I needed to figure out my priorities and say no to a lot of things that I had said yes to, which I feel guilty about, but I have to let that go. um because I need to focus on the people that I love and that I trust and that I want in my life and that I want to continue to build relationships with. So, um, yeah, I think prioritizing the things that matter most to me above, you know, meetings with complete strangers. And as much as I want to meet with everybody who asks for um, help or wants to work with me or whatever else, sometimes I have to realize that it's not possible to do that without sacrificing um, the bigger picture. So, priorit prioritize and priorities, I guess. Number four, uh this is a tough one for me and I'm sure for a lot of you is asking for help. So I'm calling this one please. Um yes, just asking people for help is not something I'm great at doing. I like to take everything out on myself and I like to fix everything myself. So it's as simple as my neighbor making me dinner one night makes a huge difference. um and just asking the people in my life for a little more assistance and um people on my teams giving them a little bit more of my workload and letting go of some of the control and that's never been easy for me but I'm learning. So um yeah saying please please help me um I think makes a big difference. The fifth one is pause. And basically what I mean by that is just it's it has a little to do with perspective, but just walking away from what it is that you're so focused on. Digital detox starts right now. So for me, I was just kind of very overwhelmed with my inbox, my email inbox. So I just walked away and I went for a walk and I um just didn't bring my phone with me. I left it at home and I just got out of my house and got some fresh air. And so for me, that's hitting the pause button. For you, that could be going for a run. Whatever it is that you can do to take your mind off of the tasks at hand and to just get a breather is really important. So, press pause for a second. The uh sixth P is play, which we all love. And that really is doing what you love. What makes you happy? what makes you smile? Um, doing more of that. So, maybe you have a hobby. Uh, for me, I I love working out. That's one of my favorite things to do and it gives me a lot of mental clarity. But something that I've recently gotten back into is dancing. Uh, I danced competitively for about 10 years when I was growing up and I took a long time off, but I recently started doing a Beyonce dance class and it is a game changer for me. I look forward to it every week and it just allows me to play and to have fun and to not think about anything else going on in my life. So find something that lights you up and makes your heart happy. And the seventh P and probably the most important is pamper. Um so take some time to do something for yourself. And um for me that was a little spa retreat. I booked myself in for a massage which I never do. Um, but I'm trying to make it a regular part of my routine. Spa day. Vancouver. This place is so beautiful. So, I'm going to relax for the next couple hours. Um, whatever it is that pampering means to you. Maybe it's breakfast in bed. Do more of that and make time to focus on you as opposed to trying to give all your energy away to everybody else. So, what do you guys think of this? If you enjoy these kinds of videos, kind of like my weekly diaries, um, I'd love to know and I'd love to get your opinions on what we should call this because I don't really know what to call it. It's like Sunday vlogs, sunny Sunday, I don't know. But, um, leave a comment below and I'd love to get your help on coming up with some kind of a name for these weekly videos uh, that are little different than my tutorial um, and businessy sort of videos. And, uh, I want to know how you guys distress. So, leave your comments below with your best tips for uh making sure you don't burn out or if you are feeling burnt out, how do you get back to feeling like your normal self. I'm really excited to see what your tips are. If you guys like this video, uh please hit the like button below and subscribe. And it'd be great if you share it. And uh yeah, let me know what you think about this. It's kind of a weird little space to be in and weird stuff to talk about for me, but um it's fun. So, I hope you guys enjoy it and I will see you guys in my next video.
