we'll take them two viewers at a time it's all good we want to start tonight with stephen harper versus neil young i love this neil young is on a honor the treaties tour he is honoring aboriginal treaties and suggesting that the canadian government is killing first nations people by pushing forward with development of the oil sands and it's been a tit for tat he lashed out then the prime minister's office lashed out i didn't think it was very nice of the prime minister's office and then uh neil young again so let's have a little listen to neil young first i promise it's coming i want my grandchildren to grow up and look up and see a blue sky and have dreams that their grandchildren are going to do great things and i don't see that today in canada i see a government incomplete just completely out of control money is number one integrity isn't even on the map all right shashi your thoughts well look if you ask a subset of canadians who would they rather listen to sing stephen harper or neil young chances are they're going to pick neil young if you ask a different subset of canadians who do they trust more on the economy and and on natural resources chances are they're going to pick stephen harper look neil young is using his celebrity status in the way that many artists and and musicians and and actors do uh he's spending his own money to uh drive a message and bring attention to an issue now is that going to sway a lot of canadians i'm not so sure but what it is doing is it's making things once again a little less uncomfortable comfortable for stephen harper and the prime minister's office forced to make a statement forced to come out and as you said lash out and neil young these are distractions for the prime minister they're not the type of thing that he wants to be dealing with but at the same time you know if you had a pm that was perhaps a little bit more proactive and transparent about talking to canadians uh he wouldn't be back on his heels every time the neil youngs of the world decide that they're gonna go out and uh and and fight for integrity man well it starts with neil young and of course the generation of people who are familiar with him but what if somebody younger came out what if younger canadian stars start to pilot i think that's the whole point of this and i think the great thing behind this is that i mean stephen harper he has this agenda obviously and neil young is is making a great point and it's a valid point for our generation for generations to come and for the future so i feel like it's very short-term thinking for prime minister harper to say something like rockstars have to rely on these resources too it's so flippant and really he's just going back to his number one point he's done a great job for the economy great but we want to know what you're doing for the environment and how this is going to affect future generations to come and that's neil young's point and i say good for him rock on because stephen harper sounds like a bit of a broken record at this point and i don't think that stephen harper's message was well received simply because it wasn't well put together it didn't have much substance to it it just sort of was a bunch of cheap shots yeah i'm going to quote even the lifestyle of a rock star relies to some degree on the resources developed by thousands of hard-working canadians every day shachi well look i i take sonny's point and and i admire her for caring about these issues but you know time and time again we see that younger canadians are increasingly checked out of politics checked out of environmental and economic issues so you know whether or not we like it stephen harper is playing a very calculated game he may be coming off as stodgy or back on his heels or not putting together good statements but it's not young canadians he's talking to it's not canadians who already have an opinion about this that he's talking to he's talking to his base and and my guess is uh the the latest by neil young is not necessarily going to sway his base all that much although yes if you saw you know maybe a carly rae jepsen or or a lady gaga or somebody else coming along and drawing attention to this issue it could be a game changer down the line well and that's interesting because you know what i'm i'm seeing there there certainly is a part of the baby boomer generation uh based for stephen harper that will never vote anything other than conservative they're very happy with the way things are run but i'm hearing a lot of young people really getting back to green values the earth uh and it's surprising me i think the fact that neil young did this is making a lot of younger people pay attention even if they weren't part of neil young's generation exactly this is a rock star who's going on tour it maybe they may be accessing more information about the oil sense than they would have otherwise and i actually would like to thank prime minister harper because he is making us get angry about this and care more in our generation we are going to go out and vote i can speak for myself on that i'm much more interested in politics at this point in my life than i was when i was younger and when things like this happen with a rock star like neil young obviously you're going to pay more attention and i don't think it has to be somebody who's my age like no but i think that there's a whole fascination with celebrity now that there didn't used to exist so uh so much you know that it wasn't that strong all right uh speaking of things that are really popular with people lululemon uh boy i have a feeling this is going to be chip wilson and lululemon's annis hariblis joshie what do you think look whenever we talk about lululemon jill you know my take on it this is this is a company that built a very successful brand through brand marketing and a little bit of cult of personality here but i think that lululemon is turning into a bit of a lemon for investors their their sales are really starting to take it on the chin and you know canadians and and worldwide consumers are smart they're looking for the next trend this brand has been around for a while so really they've got to get back to actually selling products that are worth the 100 investment that people are having to pay for them it's not like they're cool or cutting edge anymore they've been around for a while so if this is a company that's got staying power they're going to have to maybe practice their postures a little bit better and and get away from just worrying about the image i mean chip wilson leaving the company probably takes some of the heat off of it but is it enough to reinvigorate uh the the market base well you touched on a whole bunch of things there they've got to come back with a better quality product because i you know i was looking at my i was doing laundry this weekend and my old lululemons are in better quality than the ones i bought last year and i think that the company can rebound but they have to go back to why people started liking them to begin with and they're not touching on any of those things anymore they are so far priced out of everything else and i think people will pay for it but it's got to be worth it absolutely and i think people need to trust the brand again brands are what people say they are nowadays especially with social media and when chip wilson made those comments about some women shouldn't wear the pants i mean he didn't do himself any favors they wanted to damage control right away if you look at an example like abercrombie and fitch this happened to them a year ago the ceo made a very similar comment and now they're expanding their sizes and doing damage control but it's a little bit too late lemon rate went right away so it's perfect well as brands you have to be so careful now there there there is no reaction time it has to be instant you don't have time to go back and figure it out and you have to do it right away i just want to share this facebook post with you so lululemon stock dropped 15 today after fourth quarter profits were well below projections rub that fabric between your thighs chip i love that that came courtesy of sarah daniels all righty let's move on to the seahawks tickets of course they are uh playing the san francisco 49ers next weekend in seattle uh and if you don't have season's tickets you gotta shell out a whole lot are you going down jail no no because the cheapest ticket now is a boat four hundred dollars i read the most expensive 122 000 yes and the trouble is that two minutes after 10 o'clock this morning when they ostensibly went on sale to the public there were no tickets left you know the sporting order you know demand on on tickets for games i was going to say through osmosis i know this morning but uh yeah i mean seattle's got to do what they got to do and they have that 12th man i just went to a game in december and i have to say that is one of their biggest allies out there and the team really gets the crowd involved so they are packing the stadium with their fans they're not really wanting the san francisco 49er fans there apparently they're making it difficult if not impossible for 49er fans to get tickets but isn't this just part of the excitement i mean seattle hasn't been a very good team for very many years is this just part of no they made a run to the super bowl 2005 five years ago many years ago look go hawks this is great the fact that 49ers fans can't get tickets and are whining about it oh you know what this is this is awesome this is great gamesmanship for the hawks not so much if you're a 49ers fan look i went to high school in richmond at a time when the richmond colts aaa basketball were number one in the province and those high school years we made it as uncomfortable for any opposing team to come in and play in our gym as we could nothing on sportsmanlike no booing but we made it uh not very much fun for the opposing team and a lot of fun for our people and if and if they can pack their stadium doing it with seahawks fans or that's absolutely to their credit good for them a little bit of difference between aaa basketball yeah it's the same feeling the idea is you keep the other guy out of your house but also san francisco is coming to play they've won on the road now against green bay as well as against carolina so they're coming out there and they're going to do whatever they can to win and they've won a super bowl before seattle like you said never won a super bowl so i do think it's a little bit sad that some of these longtime seahawks fans who have been there through the highs and plenty of lows aren't able to get tickets but that's always the way yeah you know that's what it's going to be my point there's a lot every 68 368 people i think is the record there uh next weekend or this coming weekend so all
