what's up guys welcome back to the channel in this video we're going to go through how to update your desktop wallpaper using python so the first thing we're going to do is we're going to import our dependencies so now that we have our dependencies we're going to set up the url for the nasa image api which is publicly available to use then we're going to make a request to that api and then we're going to decode that and then we're going to decode that request using python's ast module we're going to call ast.literal evol auto.content.decode f8 and now let's print a url we're gonna download the image and save it as wallpaper temporary and then finally what we're gonna do is we're going to show that image using maple lib and we're just going to call it show image dot show we're going to input a question to the user do you want to update your paper yes or no and then if update is y or update is yes then what we're going to do is we're going to define a variable called picture path and that's going to be called wallpapercurrent.jpg then we're going to rename the image that we just downloaded to this picture path name and we're going to use this line to update our paper so this line is calling the g status command and setting the background to the path that we just defined in the picture path variable and then finally if we don't want to update the wallpaper we're just going to remove the image that we just downloaded and print wallpaper not updated now what we can do is we can call the script that we just created we will download the image show it to us and if i like it i'll say yes and then now as you can see here our wallpaper was automatically updated and that's it if you liked the video don't forget to like and subscribe and cheers
