listed their products guys and girls and they've made money in it so we're gonna show Neville he got it listed so we'll just go through different ways of promoting it uh in the next like 10 minutes or so are you moving in this oh yeah all right so I'm going to start recording here on this side okay is that working yes sweet all right um do you want to share your screen to show the the product the listing yeah okay so let me share my screen right now to get a little bit of a back story I think I can let you share screen yeah here wait uh application window by the way just to give some backstory three weeks ago Neville had an idea for mental models which is an idea of like how to make decisions then last week he created it and this week he's going to promote on the appsumo marketplace um my mom actually Neville she messaged me about it and she's like I like that Neville just followed his heart and he really want to do mental models even though no one else wanted to buy it and so I'm so happy that he just did it yeah it was kind of do you remember so just a quick recap of the last show basically everyone hated the product right they're just like you should do something copywriting you should do something freelancer it'll make more money and I was like well this first one I don't want to do for money I just want to do it because it's fun and so the first one I did was mental models and it looked kind of like this so I changed it all around and to show you how fast we did it like I was doing part of it like right before the call last week and I did probably like 60 of the work uh right before this call and I woke up at eight in the morning and I finished it all in about three and a half hours so this is going to be the product these are all the different mental models all that kind of stuff um I submitted it to the appsumo marketplace right here oh this is cool all you need to do was upload a uh a picture a couple of images and the website copy and the product so I just uploaded a zip file how was that honestly like straight up the the process was easy except feedback um it really made everything have to have 16 by nine images like aspect ratio and I would like take a screenshot and it would be almost perfect and be like oh sorry it's not exactly the right ratio specifically do each image which was really annoying I wish I could just upload an image and had a sizer that I could just use because that was a real pain in the ass it took forever to do that but other than that super easy all right I'm just telling the team so by the way one of the things that I've been thinking about especially I read this book no rules rules uh by Reed Hastings and Netflix CEO so impressive hey that's me that's better me on me and me uh let's go to the listing so all right yeah so here's my product thing and then here's the listing so I haven't edited it this is the first pass of it right so we'll change it and all that kind of stuff so all right good one quick thing for all y'all is that I think what's super powerful from Neville just saying something earlier is that if you guys are doing products if you're doing service if you're doing consulting if you're doing software if you're working with other people go ask for some feedback today hey how could I work with you better so like we do that within our company and I think we've actually was pretty disappointing but also exciting uh a lot of the things that we need to improve on so I appreciate you sharing the photo thing anyways for everyone out there get some feedback today so you said the 16x9 was annoying yeah that part was super annoying it should just let me upload an image kind of like Twitter and then you could have a sizer that sizes it kind of like you know when you upload a picture to Facebook for your profile or something like that I think that would just be a lot easier and there's basic standard plugins the team can use for that wow that was like really the only Annoying part everything else was super crazy easy that's cool to see Jacob garof is like 17 years old he's like the Jewish cousin cousin I wish I had um I did finish my notes on the read Hastings book uh I'll post it in the you guys want to read it I will post it below yeah I will say though like this is so easy that I'm probably gonna upload a lot of products like that was the goal to upload probably like three to five different products I could just sell all the time one might sell really well some are just fun I don't know but it's just like a legit marketplace now dude it's crazy all right so by the way I posted the no rules rules book report I haven't finished editing it there's nothing really fancy in it but you guys can go there I posted a link in the comments to see it so how long did it take you actually get it listed uh if okay if the image thing wasn't a problem I'd say a grand total of probably like a minute and a half if anything oh damn I already had I already had approved because what happens is otherwise people post like spamming as [ __ ] uh and then it's no important while you're doing that can I show them like some cool tricks that I use for Google Docs and making products that we've done in the past oh yeah so for example we made this entire thing like a lot of people think you need to make some fancy PDF and have like Adobe Acrobat whatever the hell like I don't even know how to use that thing you can actually use Google Docs to do all this stuff so uh we use Google presentations and I just made like a normal layout looking presentation and check this out so mental model cheat sheet number one right we made this cheat sheet let's say I want to sell a picture of this all I do is file download jpeg image and boom it saves as a JPEG image and now I have that saved so I can bring that up here bam it just already automatically makes the image no Photoshop no acrobat no nothing and then if I want to save the entire thing all you do is file download as PDF and then it'll take a second over there it's downloading in the corner and it'll save the whole damn thing for you so it'll make a PDF like you don't have to really do much you don't have to have a lot of technical knowledge for some of these products upload can you show what you actually uploaded to the optimal Marketplace and then what do you charge I put 10 bucks I think that's what I talked about last time okay and then what'd you actually upload so it was a zip file that contained the PDF so this PDF right here okay what's that it's just this no it's just this it's then it's then uh you also get where'd it go you also you also get a two cheat sheets that you can print out then you get a printable cheat sheet that is all one page and then you get an iPhone uh oh where's the iPhone thing and let me show it to you let me pull it up you get this iPhone wallpaper oh that's cool so this is size dude that's a great idea so kavi I like kavi me and him drink a lot of green tea together and then we do a bunch of ecstasy uh he said this is cute I actually Julio had a great idea you should sell a template on how to make products for the appsumo marketplace that's kind of a cool idea I mean absolutely I think that was one of the ideas we had last time like how to make a product for the appsumo marketplace yeah coffee says K gang what up dog uh music stupidest product but it's so it's kind of funny like when they see it they're like oh that's actually not that bad but I think the other products we were going to do is something around the idea of copywriting because I think that would probably be make the most money uh something around freelancing and then I do like the idea of how to make an appsumo product that would be pretty dope because we did a whole um class of that where we got everyone to make digital products and it's the same concept so it could kind of repackage that except specifically for appsumo and honestly how to make money on appsumo as a product would probably make the most money on appsumo I mean we've done these products like how absolutely does marketing like a lot of this stuff we did a course on app symbol called course about how to build a course it did pretty well so Neville did you make your own images for the PDF Alex you guys if you have questions about making a digital product uh this is a great time to ask so he uh shout out Patrick Morgan um yep he's on the launch Ops Team for Marketplace I mean look how terrible these drawings are only I could do that that's uh everyone else is way better have to start biking but I think that got a good question it's like you think a normal person with no following like could do a book package like this would make money uh yeah because we just done it with a couple people okay wait wait wait when you say no following if if you're like one of those people that's like um I don't have an email list I don't have anything on Facebook I don't have any followers on Facebook I don't use Instagram it's just like if you have no one then yeah you're at a disadvantage compared to someone with some audience but on the appsumo marketplace there's a couple of people within our group that post on the absolute Marketplace zero promotion and made sales so there's one guy that did the salary negotiation guide okay he's pointed zero people to it and the next day he had sales in appsumo was just like he was confused he was like wait how how did that even work uh another one is the best company best compensation calculator okay of all time he something like that something to that effect I forgot what the name is um Kyle also did that and got the same result where he made sales and up so without telling a single person so both of those guys did have audiences but they didn't tell anyone about their appsumo product and it just started selling so theoretically yes you could do this without an audience but if you have an audience you're in even better shape does that answer the question yes people are the answer is yes and I think the other thing Zach is one yes appsumo promotes it for you but secondly a lot of people have more people in their Network than they realize um do you retain the name and emails from the sales of your product I don't think so it's just like Amazon but I think there's ways that you could like push people to get their emails and contact information but there's right as of now not right now um can you release a product Neville I'll ask you the questions he's making a a thing about podcasting and video casting he wants to release it for free can he put that on an appsumo I'm writing podcast videocast focused CMS I went to release for free yeah of course you can right um if is this piece of software because you could also release I know whenever you sign up for appsumo it's like is this software or is it a software a course or is it like files so I selected files so bayberg for you it sounds like you have a uh a CMS so it'd be like a piece of software you can sell totally which type of products tend to sell best on appsumo oh good question that's a question for you I know I know the answers uh to this stuff all of them uh 80 of the sales on Marketplace I'm gonna share screen level I'm gonna share my screen so these are sales daily this is live data uh from our Marketplace products so today so far this is crazy uh we're paying out almost fifty thousand dollars to creators that's the cogs column that's the cost of goods sold so today people are getting I don't know how many of them how many people look I don't have any actual individual products well we're paid out almost 50 000 bucks That's crazy dude I don't know it's just kind of amazing I can't believe we've gotten this big and like how far we're gonna go uh so I think there's a I think this is like a great time for people to get in uh so in terms of products that sell best 80 of this the revenue still comes from software uh and then it's I don't know the exact split between courses and books so yes appsumo customers still like software the most but definitely I think there's going to be a lot of upside uh still with books and courses and definitely Target towards entrepreneurs I think when people put like you know Neville's weight loss course which is I'm still glad we tried it yeah I've actually been reading more and more books about how many times people need to be failing like I was reading about Netflix I was reading about Amazon it was like these companies still are pushing a lot of experiments to fail like they actually want more like failure in the business there's someone having like oh how do we do that within our own company yeah I mean if you I think if you type in like a Google failed products um Google uh Amazon failed products you find like all these lists of just like tons and tons tons of things that were failures uh hello uh Beavis yeah what's up yeah I'm just it's uh it's pants uh and then in here uh laptop so that's how I'm able to do this so I'm carrying the laptop and then water bottles heart rate monitor that's pretty much it phone and then this is actually a really cool charger sorry I'm trying to show it to you so this charger you can plug in on top plus it's got like four Outlets which makes it really convenient to charge everything once you get to the tools so if you have an amazing bike but you're not sure how to actually use it well it won't be effective I was just thinking about how everyone has like computers and like phones and all this [ __ ] but they actually don't know how to use them very well um we don't have any support car we're just staying at different hotels do you guys like these thoughts is this interesting you could say no yes I have more of them you guys want me to put um and I kind of come up with like a framework of the day so like here's the framework of the day yeah framework of the day is like try to post a story of the ride on Instagram for tying in post one Instagram photo my favorite picture do One giveaway on Twitter post my Strava and then update that Google Map I think what oh she brought we're gonna have it tonight or what are we having it yeah I don't know [ __ ] yes dude I don't know I think it was just helpful to create some framework around like okay not I don't spend my whole day [ __ ] tweeting and doing all the [ __ ] but like what are some of the key things I want to spend think about during the day Neville they want you they want me to get off they're like shut the [ __ ] up yeah I'll of how you promote your products so email signatures people are liking uh Twitter email list a video where you come on a YouTube channel with Noah what about what if I go on Twitter and talk about it that's a good one yeah because I think the thing I'm trying to encourage and think about is like where can you update where you don't have to keep managing it like cup keep updating Twitter is a little bit annoying I wouldn't change all your links novel like you probably want one of them whatever one you think is more important for now but I think the point is like if you update your bio
