Create a view in Databricks and share it with Power BI using Delta Sharing

hey I'm Andy from the Delta sharing team today I will be introducing and demoing crossplatform view sharing with my team member Jade crossplatform view sharing will enable data providers to share views across different platforms clouds and regions promoting an open and interoperable data ecosystem in My Demo today I will demonstrate how to create a view and datab Bricks based on a partner data set I will then share The View with my team member Jade who will demonstrate viewers it in powerbi let's start by preparing our data set and creating a view in data braks this view will be the data I share with powerbi views and data bricks are readon representations of data created from tables it allows users to query data without duplicating it which is perfect for secure data sharing let's create a view based on our partner AQ weather's daily forecast suppose I only want to share humidity and UV index averages from the recipients country let's create a query to do that now that I have the view ready let's securely share it using Delta Shar this will allow me to share data across platforms without replication Delta sharing is an open protocol developed by data breaks enabling seamless sharing with external tools like powerbi first let me create my recipient Jade as you can see from my SQL command I've set the country that where Jade is from this will make it so Jade can only query the US forecast when he queries my shared view now that I've set up the recipient let's query the view to validate everything is correct as you can see from the results there are only forecasts from the us and we only see the UV index average and the humidity average now that we validated The View let's add it to a share and Grant Jade access to the share I'll pass this activation uro from earlier and hand it off to Jade view in powerbi hey uh my name is Jade I'm going to demo how to use powerbi and share the views through data sharing protocol first we are using the same data sharing connector from powerbi I will use the D server URL I just got from andd and connect if you have used a shared table from third sharing before from powerbi there's no change on how to use whe sharing now you see the list of views shared to me by Andy and I can preview the data as part of the view sharing we have also enabled query result cash for you so that you can preview the data pretty quickly without running duplicate queries now I have loaded the data into powerbi let's build a simple dashboard form minut from the result of the dashboard you can see that I can only quy the data that shared with me based on my recipient information thank you for watching this Dio to summarize this di shows how easily we can share views across platform using dat sharing we have securely shared live data from data breaks with powerbi without replicating it ensure both flexibility and security this is game changer because it expands data providers reach and avoid wender login for data consumers making collaboration easier and faster
