hello all my name is krishna and welcome to my youtube channel so guys today in this particular video we are actually going to discuss about future of python programming language and we'll also be discussed is there any chance that it will be replaced in the near future now in this video i know many of you like python python has been one of the most favorite programming language of many because of its amazing capabilities you know we can do full stack development in python also we can also use python for data science work machine learning work deep learning work it has abundant libraries which actually make all your tasks very very easy but still they are some problems with respect to python and based on that we'll be trying to discuss what will the future of python look like when i'm saying future i'm just not talking about one year one and a half year probably after three to four years so you do not worry now apart from this this video is more like a discussion so if you have any point of if you have any points regarding that you can definitely comment in this particular video itself right i'll try to see that i'll try to reply that okay so let's go ahead what is the major problem with python we know that there are some abundant libraries right with respect to data science right we have matplotlib c bond we have sklearn we have tensorflow we have pytorch right with respect to web development we have frameworks like flash django right we know that we can also create windows application we can also create games we can also do lot of tasks that are related to advanced machine learning deep learning techniques but still what is the major problem with python the major problem with python is that python is slow and this is the most major problem that can hit python when there is a new programming language which can perform better than python even though it has less packages i'll be telling about the competitor of python programming languages are the other programming language which are in open source and yes they are also gaining popularity and the reason is that those programming languages are very very fast because of this condition and there are multiple reasons why python is slow okay because you you know write c programming language c plus plus what is the main main aim of those programming languages is quite fast it suppose parallel programming and many more things but with respect to python programming angle why it is slow we'll try to discuss that so coming to the next slide here we say that why python is slow okay so the first reason that i would like to mention over here is that python code executes the reason that python codes executes more slowly is because of code is interpreted at the run time instead of being compiled to native code at a compile time okay what does this basically mean what does it say is that it it is getting interpreted at the runtime instead of being compiled to native code at the compile time if you have taken some examples with respect to dotnet or java right you can see in the second point how we have written now when we consider the second point over here you can see that other interpreted languages such as java byte code and dot net byte code runs faster than python because the standard distribution includes a jit compiler what does this jit compiler say just in time compiler that basically compiles the byte code to native code at the run time the reason why c python does not have a jit compiler already because the dynamic nature of python makes it difficult to write one as you know guys the whole python code that you are actually writing it is interpreted at the run time okay it is not compiled before that is the major major problem of python you know so because of that it is usually slow when compared to other programming languages like c java.net again what is the main reason because there is a kind of compiler in dotnet programming language in java programming language in c plus plus programming language that compiles that specific code to some native code at runtime okay so this just in time compiler is not present in python this is the most important point why python is actually slow yes there are some other reasons also which we'll be discussing over here guys but just understand this is the major major problem right now coming to the next point there is something called as go global interpreter lock what does this basically mean the global interpreter lock basically prevents multi-threading by mandating the interpreter only execute a single thread within a single process this is also another problem right so what is happening over here multi multi thread execution is not happening in short right because of this global interpreter lock so this prevents the multi threading problem this prevents basically the multi threading thing and here you will be able to see only a single thread is basically used within a single process now as you all know that many people are actually using mobile phones a lot right because nowadays every activities is being done with the help of your smartphone let it be shopping online let it be booking tickets let it be booking your holidays plan let it be using some kind of softwares like calculators and all right everything you are able to do with the help of a smartphone you know even browsing social media websites and many more things right even internet banking too so with respect to this python with the python is still lagging with the help of python we are able to definitely create web application desktop application but with respect to mobile applications python is definitely lagging okay and that is a minor effect still i'll say you that that is just a minor problem not a major one but this can also be considered because they are some other programming languages that are coming up which are compatible with respect to desktop web-based mobile all the things right now going ahead which are the major competitors like what what programming language can replace python in the future and again i'm telling you guys this to this three programming language which i have listed over here is pretty much amazing julia the first programming language i like to discuss julia programming language and this programming language can replace python in the upcoming three to four years for the data science work for the things that we do in machine learning or deep learning because julia is an amazing programming language in terms of speed right it is pretty much faster when compared to python programming language right now the julia programming language again it is an open source the community is also growing now you know and with respect to julia programming language guys the only problem right now is that it is having less packages when compared to python so many people are still working on python but yes the package is also increasing you know the libraries are also increasing in julia programming language so probably in the upcoming three to four years i i think julia will be a major competitor programming language for python itself so here you can see that julia is a very new language that competes heads on with python it fills the gap of last skill technical computation usually one would have used python or matlab matlab and patch the whole thing up with c plus libraries which are necessary at last scale now one can use julia instead of jungling with the two languages which is pretty much important now coming with respect to the other programming language that is golang golang is also a programming language which is becoming very very much famous go is a great for beginners like python and it is so simple that it is even easier to maintain the code the fun point again the fun point which i've actually taken from stack overflow go developers are among the highest paid programmer on the market right now if you don't remember guys some days back i had actually brought you a survey from gartner you know which are the best programming language where people are liking more so golang is also one of them if i talk about golang and rust rust is also one of them so the rust the next competitor of python rust offers the same kind of safety that python has no variable can accidentally be overwritten but it solves the performance issue with the concept of ownership and borrowing and it is also the most loved programming language of the last few years according to the stack overflow insights regarding stack overflow insights also i had made a video in my youtube channel guys and there rush programming language was in the top most position so these are the major competitors and nowadays what i see is that rust and golang is being effectively used more and more and when i talk about web development mobile development with respect to desktop development rust and golang is actually taking place the competitor julia programming why i have written because i've written in terms of data science machine learning and deep learning this can be a one of the major competitor with respect to python right and yes i'm just not talking about six months or one year down the line it will take time as i said you that there are very less packages in julia when compared to python it will keep on increasing as time goes on and after four to five years you will be seeing that yes there will be also a group of community people who will be using julia programming language for your machine learning and deep learning task so i hope you like this particular video and one more thing guys thank you for the 250k subscribers we are we have just reached it today you know it was pretty much amazing thank you for all your support and i'll keep on uploading videos keep on uploading amazing videos i'll be taking up your requests and uploading more and more videos thank you for all the support i'll see you all in the next video have a great day thank you all bye
