hello ladies and gentlemen welcome to this session of uh introduction to just nano where i'm going to talk about microcontroller and microprocessor and again it's a very important topic because one should have an understanding that okay what is the main difference between them so let's look into this so the main thing that you will find out is a microcontroller and processor is that let's just look into the differences and we will first of all try to give you one example based on that you will have a very great idea here so that uh you can actually tell that okay what is the main difference is that you will be able to find it out so let's first of all write about the microcontroller and similarly we will have write the microprocessor so one example that you will find out about this one say let's say you have an example of i will give you some layman examples because this actually makes us like very clear idea so just like that we can have here as well so first example that i will give you is let's say you have a washing machine okay you have washing machine then you have let's say vending machine is there okay and then there are some other examples simpler examples okay washing machine vending machines and then if i talk about the microprocessor example let's say i will give you some of the examples is here let's say an attendance system okay an attendance system which is based on the computer vision okay so cv or you can say facial recognition based attendance system and can be very complex or let's say let's say even remove this one i can give you one better example than this one so let's say you have another example let's say your own laptop itself okay your own laptop it also contains processor microprocessor so let's give an example of this so these two examples are in front of you so if i just look into the from a very high level perspective so you will see that okay washing machine is actually having uh they have just one specific does that okay they can perform only one specific house if i talk about the vending machines or vending machines again it has having a very specific task that is it is just to give uh just it will take the uh necessary like coins and all okay it will take the money and it will take the differences based on your choices it will give you the outcome so again this is again a very simple application similarly we can look off we can take an example of a calculator a calculator can also have a microcontroller which will just only doing the just minor you can say processing okay minor like just minor calculation it is doing right it's not like even scientific calculator also you can take so it is just meant to do only one specific task now if i talk about the laptop so laptop can perform a lot of tasks it can do the calculation it can uh like it can even instruct a machine to or a washing machine to start the task okay that can be done right that can be done and it can also do a lot of other tasks let's say you can write the documentation you can write program as well and you can design a lot of things by just using one single laptop or or any of the like microprocessor example that you can take so here you can see the tasks are not very specific okay it can do a multi task it can do a multiple task at once it is not just specific to one single task so that is the core differences that you will find in microcontroller and processor okay that is one thing now let me show you some of the examples of some of the examples of microcontroller and microprocessor so you will have an idea so i am switching on to my hardware station okay so here right now you will see a blue screen this is actually a circuit area for me and here i am going to talk about the controller as well as the processors okay so first i will give you an example of a micro controllers here so let's say if i talk about this one this is nothing but it's a jetson it's actually a nano that is arduino nano okay it's a arduino is again it's a a series of microcontroller it provides okay so this is an arduino nano and then we have the arduino mega okay arduino mega is there so it is having a larger form factor again this is one example of microcontroller then we have esp 12e okay so this is again another example of your microcontroller so now these devices are actually meant to uh like it can you can do a sensor interfacing on them and you can get an input from them okay and allow one digital uh sensors can be interfaced through these p knobs that you can see here these are the okay from there we can get the information okay from the your sensors and even you can generate control signals with the help of this one but and it also has a very small memory so where you can burn your program and it can do the same task again and again in a repetitive manner so this makes it very application specific so depending upon your use cases it can simply uh like do the task and it will be just restricted to one specific task okay or it can be multiple but it will the overall you can say application will be offered this just for the one specific task okay so let's say if i give you an example of a vending machine so definitely in a vending machine you can use this one it can perform all the tasks that you need basic task vending machine it can do even for the washing machine task okay definitely that can be done here as well ok so this is actually can do such kind of task that is very application specific and it can do it in repetitive mode now this is an example of a and there is one more version of arduino that i have and i will show it at the end okay now let's talk about the microprocessor so i can give you one example of a raspberry pi raspberry pi is actually slightly larger than your form factor again and it has it actually has an operating system and it can perform various tasks just like your pc okay so it can perform a various tasks and uh it's not going to be very specific to your step one application it can be like modified and it can do a lot of tasks differently again sensor interfacing is available in this one you can even interface a camera here okay so uh these are some of the very you can say about this it's a processor okay this is a microprocessor it can do a multiple level of tasks similarly there will be one other version of raspberry pi that is called as raspberry pi zero in form factor it is going to be very small okay slightly if i compare with this one so again so this one is going to be again this is also an example of microprocessor this also contains a memory and one more thing that you will find out here is that it actually has a like it you can insert a sd card here so light is having 16 gb so if you want to put a 32 gb one so you can do that so that means again that kind of variation you will get in this this board okay this is an example of microprocessor again this both of them will be having their operating system mainly you will find out that they have a linux based operating system but if i talk about the microcontroller so they do not have any specific os they just you can connect it with your laptop and you can burn the program and it will start working as it is and it will be in a repetitive mode okay or it will learn in a loop okay so now let me give you one more example of a microprocessor so that's jetson nano okay where we are going to utilize this board it's again it's a development board okay that's an uh nano so let me remove this one and i will put just a nano here so there's a nano in a form factor wise again it's a slightly larger okay it can perform all your ai based kind of like ai based application let's say if you're building uh a simple there's a phase detection based attendant system so that can be that that model can run on this one so actually this has a very tiny gpu that is nvidia gpu and we will talk about that in detail which can help you to inference okay which can help you to inference the uh model very easily so it actually has cuda cores okay and this inform factor is slightly larger it also has a heat sink so to deal with the heat and it has so many things okay so many input and output ports are there here and again if this comes with an operating system okay this like you have to install one operating system into this that is again it is built by it has customized operating system normally it's again it's a linux based operating system which you install on this one and it can again do a multiple task okay it can perform multiple tasks unlike the your microcontrollers which will be very specific to one so here it can perform a lot of tasks and even ai based applications can be built with the help of this one so this is an example of a processor microprocessor because it can handle multiple tasks a variety of tasks can handle so we will discuss this about in detail so from this i hope you have got the general idea of that what is the differences between microcontroller and microprocessor so that's all for this lecture and see you all in the next and then keep on running and keep on exploring
