If you've ever found yourself juggling between multiple AWS accounts or identities and having to log in and out or switch between different browser windows, multi-session support in the console will help streamline your experience. The multi-session support feature in the AWS console allows you to sign into up to five identities at the same time, eliminating the need to log in and out of accounts when performing activities such as troubleshooting or configuration comparison between environments. This is a clientside console feature, meaning that the users in your organization have the ability to opt in or out depending on the experience that they personally want. Enabling multi-session support eliminates the need to use private browser windows or separate browser types for logging into multiple accounts at once. Let's take a look at this feature in the AWS console. I'm currently logged into one of my AWS accounts using an Identity Center user. I can enable multiseession support by going to the top right dropdown and clicking turn on multi session support. Now that I have multi session support enabled, I can go back to my identity center portal and I can log into a separate account simultaneously. You'll notice that there's a unique subdomain appended to your console URL. Now, make sure to update any bookmarks or links that you may have previously saved. You'll also notice that if you open a link to an AWS console page that doesn't have the multi-session subdomain in it, you'll be presented with the option to choose which active session you'd like to use in order to open that console page. You can also create additional active sessions by going to the top right dropdown and selecting add session. From here, if you'd like to disable multiseession support, you can select turn off multiseession support.
