Key Takeaways

Amazon SageMaker supports generic project profiles, enabling domain administrators to define configurations once and reuse them across multiple AWS accounts and regions, using SageMaker Unified Studio and account pools. The demo showcases creating account pools, building project profiles, and testing them in SageMaker Unified Studio.

Hi everyone, welcome. In this use case demo, I'll show you how to first create an account pool as an admin, then build project profiles in SageMaker domain with different account access configurations, and finally test them in SageMaker Unified Studio as a portal user. Let's start by creating an account pool. In this demo, we'll create an account pool with a static list of accounts. Open your CLI and run the command with the required arguments: the domain ID, account pool name, and the source of accounts. Type in the command and the CLI will return the output with the account pool details. Now let's create project profiles in SageMaker domain. First let's create a profile that uses only one account pool. Go to the project profiles tab in the SageMaker console and click create project profile. Choose select account and region during project creation. Then select choose account pools and pick only account pool. Fill in the rest of the fields. Create the profile and confirm the details page shows the correct account pool. Next, let's make one with multiple account pools. Repeat the same process, but select more than one account pool in the list. Once created, check that the details page lists all selected pools and the deployment settings reflect them. For the third profile, choose all associated accounts under account and region. Verify the details. Make sure all three profiles are enabled. Then launch SageMaker Unified Studio. Now let's switch roles to a SageMaker portal user from Unified Studio. Start creating a new project. For each profile, check the account and AWS region section. You should see only the accounts and regions authorized by that profile. Complete the project creation flow and confirm that the project deploys successfully under each configuration. And that's it. You've just learned how to create an account pool, build three project profiles in SageMaker domain, and test them in SageMaker Unified Studio. Thanks for watching and happy building.

Original Description

Amazon SageMaker now supports generic, account-agnostic project profiles (templates) in SageMaker Unified Studio domain, enabling domain administrators to define project configurations once and reuse them across multiple AWS accounts and regions. Project profiles are no longer tied to a specific AWS account or region. Instead, platform teams can reference an account pool—a new domain entity that enables dynamic account and region selection at the time of project creation, based on custom enterprise authorization policies or user-specific logic. This decoupling of profile definitions from static deployment settings simplifies governance, reduces duplication, and accelerates onboarding across large-scale data and ML environments.
