Hello, I'm Sai, a cloud support engineer here at the AWS office in Hyderabad. Today I'm going to show you how to prevent read timeout errors when you are using large language models in Amazon Bedrock. Let's get started. When you use Amazon Bedrock's large language models to generate text, you might encounter read timeout errors. These errors occur when the Python botoic client queries the large language model but doesn't receive a response within Boto's default read timeout period. To resolve this, we must increase the read timeout value. To do this, increase the value of the read timeout parameter in this command. In this example, we are setting the read timer to,00 seconds, which is a sufficient amount of time for most large model queries to complete. If you are using a third party library such as longchain, you must pass the configured B23 client to the library scalable model class. Here's an example command that you can run. The read timeout period specifies how long Botoore waits for a response from the server before it returns a read timeout exception. Large models such as Anthropic Cloud Opus can take more than 60 seconds to return a response. So, it's a best practice to set the timeout to at least 1,000 seconds and then continue to adjust the time until you no longer experience timeouts.
