here we have our same input image that we were working with originally and it's repeated four times but as you can see in each of the copies we have a different area of the image selected now what if instead of passing every single Pixel value from the image to every single node in the next layer we passed groups of pixels that were Spa spatially close to each other in the input to a given node in the next layer so for example we would have one node that receives this group of pixels and another node that receives this group and then so on for the next two now here we have broken up our 3x3 input into 2x2 blocks now some values are included in more groups than others for example the middle pixel value 39 is included in every single one of these groups whereas the pixel value .1 is only included in this first group here and that's okay because we're just wanting to group pixel values that are close together and then pass these groups of pixel values that have some relation to each other likely because of their spatial proximity to each other passing these local groups of pixels to be processed together by a single node in the next layer
