instead of falling into the rabbit hole of tutorial Health learning by doing is the way to go this technique is something that everyone can use let's jump right into the study plan with the advancements in Ai and machine learning making headlines daily it's evident that these Technologies are shaping our future AI is on track to generate $1 13 trillion in economic value by year 2030 let's talk about how you can tap into this market and ride the wave of AI and machine learning using chat GPT you see these days I use chat PT for just about everything it's my go-to source for knowledge assistance and inspiration it's kind of like having that brilliant friend who not only has all the answers but can also explain the most difficult Concepts in the world recently one of our viewers Sorry boss 88550 asked a really great question in the comments it was about learning AI through more Hands-On projects instead of falling into the rabbit hole of tutorial hell thanks so much for asking the question and if you have any questions drop them in the comments and I'll make videos around them in the future by I have the perfect solution for Hands-On learning that I'm excited to share today this technique is something that everyone can use on pretty much any topic whether it's AI or machine learning or even something completely different you can pretty much build any tailor made study plan using this method in this video we're going to design a custom AI machine learning study plan together we'll also talk about how you can build a project plan using chat GPT I'll share some tips for choosing the right projects for yourself and I'll throw in a quick bonus on how you can showcase your projects on GitHub by the way if you're new here I'm Jean your trusted engineering Mentor I was an early engineer at whatsapp and an engineering manager at Facebook now meta with over 15 years of experience working in Tech back when I was studying for computer science resources like we have today were pretty scarce I suffered through the boring textbooks and terrible tutorials which was not the most effective way to learn chap GPT is by now A Familiar name for most of you this Advanced AI language model developed by open AI is exceptional at comprehending and generating humanlike text don't worry I won't bore you with an introductory lecture about Chach PT I'm sure most of you are familiar with it already and there's already tons of information available for you online with that let's jump right into the study plan now when you first engage with chat GPT Your Instinct might be to start with a simple request for example you can ask give me a study plan for learning Ai and machine learning and chup PT may give you an answer like this creating a study plan for learning artificial intelligence and machine learning is a great way to structure your learning Ai and machine learning are fast and rapidly evolving Fields so it's important to have a well organized plan here's a general study plan for you and it will suggest a duration this plan is designed for 6 months to onee time frame but you can adjust it to your pace and goals prere are basic understanding of math including linear algebra calculus and probability those are great fundamental skills for programming it recommends python which is great because python is my choice of language the study plan is not bad but it's pretty basic and pretty broad let's work on something better as with any software quality of your input will directly impact the quality of the output remember the more specific and detailed your requests the better the result will be it's like fine-tuning your search query but honestly if you really want to learn machine learning as a beginner it would probably take more than a year to learn it but for this study plan let's see what the suggestion would be for a six-month plan so let's refine our request give me a 6-month study plan for learning Ai and machine learning this response is a little better but it's still way too broad let's make it even more detailed give me a six-month study plan for learning Ai and machine learning include specific books and online resources like courses I can take I would like free courses if possible and here's what Chach PT came up with in week 1 to two introduction to Ai and machine learning online courses are corsera machine learning by anding book recommendation is python machine machine learning week 3 to four is python Basics online course by code Academy Book recommendation is automate the boring stuff with python now this study plan is pretty aggressive remember the original plan was for 6 to 12 months right if you're new to python or machine learning you would probably want to double the lengths of each topic for example instead of one to two weeks make it a one month school I like the book and the free resource recommendations however I do see that corsa's machine learning by Andre was recommended twice which is not too bad because it is a great course so it wouldn't hurt to study it for a longer period of time some of these books are textbook that would take you an entire semester to study so it's up to you if you want to actually read through the entire book or you can reference them as needed mon 6 is recommended for Capstone projects and applications it's a great start but it's too vague back when I was in college I struggled with Theory based classes those Theory heavy classes left me wondering why am I learning this and how how would they help me in the future so for me learning by doing is the way to go if you're like me this next section is for you we'll focus on learning by doing and how we can make learning a lot more engaging and practical so I'm going to ask this new prompt tell me more about the Capstone project selection process and how I can approach it it says step one is to Define your interest start by identifying your interest within the field of AI and machine learning are you passionate about computer vision natural language processing or any another specific subfield your project should align with your interests step two is to identify a problem or application think about a specific problem or application within your chosen area of Interest it could be a personal project Etc this stage is all about choosing something that excites you so as the next prompt I'm going to ask I'm interested in exploring natural language processing that's the interest that I chose for this example for My Capstone project what are some ideas for problems or applications give me ideas for personal project projects I can work on this is for those of you who have absolutely no idea where to start now I really love this result because it even includes beginner intermediate Advanced and research level projects so let's look at the suggestions now let's pick an interesting project I get a lot of questions from people who are not sure which projects to choose here are some of my tips on how to choose the right projects tip number one is to make sure the projects align with your target roles what type of engineering do you want to go into let's say you want to dive into roles like like front end or backend or mobile app each of these roles come with specific text Stacks so if you want to be a front-end developer choose projects that are going to show off your front-end skills if you want to be a mobile developer go build a mobile application pretty straightforward number two is to work on real life production code so if it's a mobile app put it on the App Store it should be live and accessible so anyone can download it and use it if your experience is limited to school environment or classroom setting that's not very impressive you want to show that your project is more than just an exercise it should be a practical application tip number three is to solve real life problems your projects don't have to be groundbreaking or entirely new you can even take existing ideas and add your twist to it or build a smaller selection of features it will make your work a lot more meaningful when other people are using it and you're actually solving real life problems what are some projects that you're working on share them in the comments I would love to hear about them now let's get back to Chacha PT to build an actual project plan from the beginning level project ideas I like the weather chatbot idea so first I can ask how can I develop a basic chatbot that can answer questions or engage in simple conversations like what's today's weather then chat jpt gave me a 14st step process which is pretty practical though to make it even better I asked for each of these steps provided above give me free online resources and books that I can reference to learn the concepts and implement the step turn it into an actionable study plan then it's spit out the resources which looks pretty good I do want both of the outlines in one page so I asked again combine the descriptions from each step with the resources for example week one select a platform or framework to build your chatbot python is a popular choice and you can use libraries like nltk or spasi or NLP and a chatbot framework like chatterbot or rasa to handle the conversation sometimes chat PT stops in the middle of the answer but you can prompt it to continue I'm really loving the new plan I feel like the concepts make a lot more sense when I'm actually working on Hands-On project it's kind of like learning MTH theories without doing the math problems it's much difficult to soak in the information until you put it into practice as I read through the plan I do see that for week one it suggests a python crash course now can you become a python expert in one week probably not but that's totally fine because our main goal here is not to become python expert is to create a weather app right the big idea I want to highlight here is that you don't have to be perfect at everything before you begin your project many times as Engineers working in the real industry we're figuring things out as we build them what really matters is your ability to learn and adapt along the way so it's more about the journey more than being perfect so if you're new to python for the first week just focus on setting up your environment so you can get started with the project if you have done python before spend the week brushing up on New Concept for step 12 chpt picked flask for me but flask is not a very popular technology right now so I asked for an edit for step 12 instead of using flask I want to integrate with Facebook Messenger give me a new recommendation the new resources for week 12 are much better so the idea is that you can pretty much do this for each step where you feel like you need a little bit more resources ask again similarly for week 14 it says document your project is architecture and how it works and that's pretty vague if you plan to work on projects it makes sense to add them to your GitHub so I tried asking I want to document my project on GitHub for week 14 how can I learn about the best practices of documenting on GitHub it gave me a lot of resources here about GitHub but it was not exactly what I was looking for sometimes Chachi doesn't quite give you the right answers when you're searching for something very particular so then I go to Google and search best read me document template for GitHub and found this I didn't care too much about the content of this website but but I did really like the way that it was formatted so if you're putting anything on your GitHub you should definitely format your GitHub page kind of like a website or landing page so take a look at this page explaining about the purpose and the content of your code there is an elevator pitch a great read me template to jump start your project you should always have an elevator pitch kind of like this there's a section about the project I love the here is y section built width usage road map and contact so follow follow this outline if you don't already have something like this set up on your GitHub page so we talked about creating a custom study plan using chpt some practical project ideas and tips for choosing the perfect projects for yourselves learning AI or machine learning or any kind of tech is really a marathon not a Sprint remember to stay patient and persistent because this is going to be a challenging Journey no one can learn this overnight so don't be discouraged if things seem a little overwhelming at times but I know you can do this so good luck and happy learning
