Your Website Might Not Even Be On Google… 😬

You could have the best website in the world and it won't matter if Google doesn't even know it exists. Most business owners skip this step and then wonder why nothing they do for SEO is working. In this video, I'm showing you the one thing you need to set up before any SEO effort is worth your time. Here's what to do: Go to Google Search Console Verify your domain so Google knows you own it Click on Sitemaps in the sidebar Submit your sitemap URL which usually looks something like yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml Then go to your WordPress dashboard Click Settings, then Reading Find the checkbox that says "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" Make sure it is UNCHECKED Wait a couple days Then search site:yourdomain.com on Google You should start seeing your pages appear in the results If your pages show up, congrats. Your site is actually on Google and now everything you do for SEO will actually count. If nothing shows up, you just found the reason none of your SEO efforts have been working. You'd be shocked how many websites have that WordPress checkbox accidentally turned on. One little checkbox and your entire site is invisible to Google. Every blog post you wrote, every service page you built, every hour you spent on SEO, completely wasted because Google was told not to index you. The sitemap is just as important. It's basically a map of your entire website that tells Google every page you have and where to find them. Without it Google has to discover your pages on its own which takes longer and sometimes misses pages entirely. Submitting it through Search Console is like handing Google a complete list and saying here's everything, go index it. This takes about 5 minutes to set up and it's the foundation everything else is built on. Keywords don't matter if you're not indexed. Content doesn't matter if Google can't find it. Backlinks don't matter if your pages aren't showing up. Do this first. Then worry about ever
