PWA Tutorial for Beginners #30 - Testing the App

or rather than going so now we've uploaded our application to firebase and it's been served at this address right here food - ninja - PWA dot firebase app comm so what I'm gonna do now is test this Peter be way from start to finish on the Android emulator just to see that everything is working as it should do so let me first go to Android studio then go to configure then AVD manager then I'm gonna launch this device right here the pixel - okay so I've already previously deleted the icon that we had for food ninja because remember in one of the earlier videos we added it to the home screen so that's gone now and I'm gonna open up Chrome and navigate to this address up here which is food - ninja and it's already there - pw8 firebase app comm so I'll go there and this looks like it's working we get this banner at the bottom add food ninja to homescreen so we'll do that we'll add it and we should get another notification here add automatically yep okay so now I'll close this one down and then I'll open it up on the phone itself so this is the app version now and looking good so far cool so everything seems to be showing and working I can try adding in a new one so we'll just call this test and blah blah blah because I can't think of any other recipes and yep this seems to be working and we see that update over here in the browser as well so that's cool now if we go to delete one of these it should work as well so let's try that cool it does and we can go to other pages as well for example contactors and about and this all works cool so this is all working while we're online but what if we try to do this while we're offline I'm going to close the app first of all then I'm going to go into flight mode so that we lose a signal and then what I'm going to do is open up the app again and this should still work and it does you see we're getting all of these different recipes right here now let's now try deleting one ninja soup and it did least from this app but notice over here if I just move these things out of the way that's right they're ninjas - still remains and that's because we're offline here right it's working in our up and it's deleting it from our UI but it's not actually yet reaching over here in our database to delete that document because we're offline in our device so it's still there you can see this three documents still here but we only see two right here okay so now let me try adding and you want as well I'll call this ninja breakfast and we'll just of eggs tomato and beans whatever and add that and now we see it here but again we don't see over here yet because we're offline now let me just go to another page to see if this works about yet we can still see that and contact because remember before while we were online we navigated around the site and we cache those pages as we visited them so even though what offline we can still view these pages from the cache so this is all working very much like an app would offline this is brilliant now the minute we go back online notice the data will update here and probably over here hopefully in the database as well so let me now turn off this thing right here flight mode and close this and notice we update it over here now we have ninja breakfast instead of a ninja stew and probably over here as well if we just give this a quick refresh so we can get the new data we should see that ninja stew is actually still there and just smooth it ninja breakfast okay so it's not a ninja - that's gone it was something else I can't remember what it was but anyway that has gone as well so this my friends is all working now this is our PWA pretty much finished
