hi this is Alex and John we're with 4 and half internet marketing social media for property managers today we have an interesting subject to talk about um it is cloud computing so what does that mean it's a very uh um it's a catchy term and everybody's using it throwing it around a lot um what is cloud Computing means and why do you want that's kind of the gist of the subject today John why do you want cloud computing well there's a lot of benefits uh one of the main things is around cost and the other one is around security and reliability uh a big program to handle you know all of your different accounting needs or say your uh uh um your property management needs if you're just buying one piece of software that software is going to cost you a lot whereas with cloud computing since you're sharing that cost with everybody else and you're paying a monthly fee you get a lot more features for a lot less money so the essence of cloud computing is that you have professional technology software engineers and and essentially professional um tech people set up a program put everything together and you just pay your share to access the system and be able to use it so in other words the information is stored on secure servers the access is provided through the internet where the server is not sitting in your closet there working over time crunching your data and trying to um store all the stuff you have exactly so you're not paying for a computer you don't have to worry about some tech guy coming in you never have to worry about updates or any of that stuff and so all you need to have is a computer with a browser on it and that does not have to be a powerful computer either because all of the hard Computing is taking place on their side and they're storing the data on their professional big storage systems that are served in uh stored in in server clusters somewhere safe so you get a Breakin at your place you get your laptop stolen that's not a problem your data is somewhere else under lock and key now for especially for small businesses and most of property management companies are considered small to midsize businesses this is a tremendous Advantage now you have uh your software and your capabilities are on par with any Enterprise level uh big reads because you're able to pay a a small monthly fee to access the best possible solution software solution to optimize and systemize your operations so we're not only talking about things like AppFolio property wear and build and real page there also um things like Google apps so versus your outlook uh Google Apps is absolutely an amazing system to keep and it's free for up to 10 users yeah to keep all your calendars your documents your emails your uh video chat Google Hangouts all together I mean if you're not utilizing that then stay tuned for a Blog next week where we're going to talk more details about Gmail and Cloud uh cloud email how to use it how to set it up we're actually talking to one of the property managers who've been using it for a long time so you get some real uh life experience anyway I hope we gave some fo foron cloud computing is the way to go talk to you next time
