There’s an old idea I’ve carried with me for a long time, and it’s never let me down: It’s the little things that make the big things possible. Now, that may sound simple… almost too simple. But don’t be fooled. The simplest truths are usually the ones we outgrow too quickly. J. Willard Marriott understood this well. He kept that reminder close, not as decoration, but as discipline. You see, over the years, I’ve watched people chase big results, big titles, big breakthroughs. And many have misses the quiet work that actually got them there. It’s in the way you greet someone. The way you follow through when no one’s watching. The extra care you put into something that “no one will notice.” Life has a way of adding those little things up…and handing you the bill later. So, if you’re aiming for something meaningful, and I suspect you are, don’t overlook the small disciplines. They’re not small at all. They’re the whole game. Give that some thought. Take care.
