Tony De Giorgio, a 6th-grade teacher at South Allegheny Middle School in Pittsburgh, discusses the positive impact of using Reveal Math, a core math program, alongside ALEKS, a 1:1 adaptive program. Students' progress data from both Reveal and ALEKS feed inform the Standards and Skills Graph and their personalized learning recommendations. Tony highlights how giving students access to their own data and placing them on personalized pathways has significantly increased their engagement and buy-in. He shares how students actively work to improve their Standards and Skills Graph, celebrate milestones, like achieving blue pieces on the graph, and have a deeper understanding of their progress. He describes the power of displaying the Standards and Skills Graph in his classroom, showcasing progress from red to green and blue, and emphasizes the remarkable accuracy and effectiveness of our personalized learning ecosystem when used with fidelity.

Here is your standards and skills graph. It is looking very good. >> Uh I'm Tony Diorgio. I'm a sixth grade teacher at um South Alageney Middle School in Pittsburgh, outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. >> What is standing out out there, guys, that we don't like Abby the red piece? >> I have been using Alex probably for 15 years. [music] The buyin wasn't always as good as it is now. Since there's a connection now to the standard and skills graph and they know there's a connection to that, the buyin has gone from here to here. It is it is uh higher than it ever was. The personalized learning feeds that standards [music] and skills graph along with their Alex doing their Alex topics. It's been remarkable. I mean talking in the past I might have had two to three kids finish the sixth grade module. This year I probably have a classroom full 25 that have finished the sixth grade module and probably another 10 that are going to finish the seventh grade module. I'm telling you the buyin [music] absolutely comes from the fact that they're aware that that's feeding the SSG. when I decided to do this and post them that the the ring of the SSG was really red. And as we have moved through the personalized learning and the Alex, they know that they all need to pull their [music] weight to change that color. Kids are starting to know their personalized learning better than I do. When we pull that up at the [music] week, they they almost can tell me they not almost, they can tell me what that piece is. Hey, that piece right there is from um algebra. [music] Can you roll over that and tell us exactly what that is? We want to go back in and try to make that a different color by either going to Alex or [music] me reassigning a personalized learning that maybe they they didn't do so well on. We've got this figured out now. They've got it figured out what they need to do to make those changes happen [music] to the SSG chart. I mean, they actually cheered the other day when I opened it up and they saw their first blue piece. They were amazed and I was proud of them. So, if you look back, if you stand back out of my room at the and look at the SSG wall that I have displayed for all four periods, [music] it's got a wave of red moving towards green and blue. It It's pretty remarkable. The further you stand away from it, the more pronounced it really is. It's a buyin like I've never seen. And I'm very very happy to do it. [music] At first I thought, boy, it's a lot of work. And I thought maybe, you know, this [music] isn't going to work. But as I see it, and the more we use it with Fidelity, the better it gets. It is crazy accurate.
