Early in my career, I was a yeller. I admit that I yelled. I thought that volume meant passion which inspired and would be remembered. Fail, fail, fail, fail. People respond to messages differently. It has to be bespoke. You have to know who you're giving that feedback to. And for the most part, if you start with empathy and put yourself in that person's position, you'd be able to relate to them. How would you say something in a way that you'd want to hear it? And thinking through that, being empathetic to the person who's hearing it so that it's logical and clear to them. I think that's critical in giving feedback.
