Stop Making It About You

To become an emotionally connected leader in an organization, you just need to ask your people what what they need that makes them tick and then you need to support them. I had an employee. She kind of wanted to be left alone to do great work. She didn't want to be asked all these questions. Not all my employees wanted me to communicate the way that I wanted to communicate. So now I ask my employees, do you want me to communicate with you regularly? How much do you want me to communicate? And then I step back and I listen. They give me the answers to tell them how I need to lead them.
