Open Educational Resources in the Pacific
About this lesson
Dr Jako Olivier, Adviser: Higher Education at the Commonwealth of Learning, talks to Dr Shikha Raturi from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji, to discuss OER in the Pacific. In this instalment, Dr Raturi discusses the evolution of OER in the Pacific, emphasising the role of regional collaborations, institutional policies, and government support. She highlights key initiatives, such as Fiji’s early adoption of an OER policy and the University of the South Pacific's engagement in localisation efforts to ensure cultural relevance. Challenges include the slow pace of localisation, the need for greater teacher training, and the importance of policy development and capacity building. She recommends systematic policy implementation, resource development, and continuous monitoring and research to enhance OER adoption in the region. ---- This video is made available by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 Licence (international): http://creativecommons.org/licences/by-sa/4.0. ---- www.col.org | X: @col4d | facebook.com/COL4D
