[Music] collecting understanding and acting and student feedback is an important part of student engagement but with so many elements that contribute to a whole learning experience it can be difficult to gather the detailed information you need the student learning experience tool or sle breaks down the broader learning experience into bite-size categories which will help you collect relevant ideas and suggestions based on students views the sle examines students learning through six lenses curriculum the way content and learning is organized on your course and modules this includes supporting transitions to learning at third level well-defined learning outcomes timetable and module options and a clear pathway to progress from year to year and ultimately complete the course learning resources everything needed to be successful on your course and modules these include adequate facilities up-to-date and accessible library materials software or equipment and support services for students who need extra help teaching and learning the way content and skills are taught and how students learn this includes teaching that meets the learning needs of students an emphasis on developing students technical academic and transferable skills and adequate class time dedicated to preparing students for assessments assessment and feedback how learning is measured and results are communicated back to students this includes fair and consistent marking the timing of assessments across modules opportunities for students to choose between a variety of assessment types and provision of timely and constructive feedback that provides a pathway to student improvement development and success a learning experience that embraces diversity and wellness and encourages students to develop new perspectives and future goals this includes opportunities for students to expand their horizons or discover new talents and support for students as they explore employment or further study options and lastly quality enhancement and assurance the institutional processes to improve students learning experience this includes an environment where student opinions are listened to and taken seriously where students and staff work together to collect and review feedback and opportunities for students to actively participate in making course improvements using the sle will help you to ask specific questions about students learning collect broad-ranging feedback ensuring student voices heard in all the different areas that impact learning and assess areas where additional feedback may be required visit studentengagement.ie for more information resources and [Music] toolkits you
