How to extract only the numbers from a cell in Excel? You might think of using flash fill by simply typing the first answer and then pressing Ctrl E. However, you'll notice that doesn't work correctly. Instead, you can use the rag extract function. Simply select the relevant cells and in quotations type a backdash followed by a D. [music] That basically tells Excel to extract the first digit. If you want all of the digits, just add a plus sign at the end of that. Awesome. And as you might have guessed, if you only wanted to extract words, you would switch that D to a W. With more complex syntax, you can also do things like extract email addresses from a sentence.
