MultiCloudDB: Write Once, Run Anywhere | Theo van Kraay | Azure Cosmos DB Conf 2026

Microsoft Developer · Intermediate ·🏗️ Systems Design & Architecture ·13h ago
Modern cloud-native databases are powerful, but each comes with its own SDK, query language, and operational model. Moving between them often means rewriting large parts of your data access layer. In this session, Theo van Kraay (Principal PM, Azure Cosmos DB) introduces a sneak preview of MultiCloudDB for Java — a portable SDK that lets you write CRUD and query logic once and run it across Azure Cosmos DB, Amazon DynamoDB, and Google Cloud Spanner, with zero code changes. You'll see the portable query DSL, the capability model that surfaces what's truly portable, and a live demo of the same Java application running unchanged across multiple cloud databases. 👤 Connect with Theo van Kraay 📝 Theo is passionate about NoSQL and distributed computing.
