If you're in software mode, what the kernel will do is like, oh, I cannot just hand you this uh encrypted, let me decrypt it first. So the software level, the kernel will do the decryption and then pass the plain text stuff to the to the user space. So that does the copy. So read will feel it. You will feel it on the read. It's f it's slower. So you'll feel it in the read. It's actually slower if if the device did the decryption in this particular case like let's say it's hardware mode that means the kernel already got it and decrypted. So all we do is call a read and this perform the copy and that's that's it. So the read will be as fast as if it's not encrypted, right? Because it's just or as if as if we have normal TLS, right? Where where I am I'm doing TLS at the user space because this have this the the the decryption already happened in the in the neck level, right? And and yeah, in this particular case, we already did that. So reads are faster. But yeah, we took the hit to decrypt in the next level. And the beauty of this is like we don't even feel it because it's not our CPU that's doing the decryption and encryption. It's actually the next CPU.
