this video is brought to you by wpforms in this video i'll walk you through how to allow users to edit their own comments on your wordpress website if you allow commenting on your website then this is a great feature to add and give somebody the chance to edit their comments in case they have a grammatical error or something like that and we'll cover it step by step so you can get up and running quickly the first thing we want to do is let's head over to our wordpress dashboard and we're going to go to plugins add new because we're going to install a plugin that will allow the editing from here we want to search for a particular plugin it's called the simple comment editing plugin this is the one we want so let's go ahead and install it and also stick around to activate the plugin as well you'll see that it's activated here and you can either go to settings here or if you ever need to go back to it from your wordpress dashboard you can go down to the left under settings simple comment editing and we can make the adjustments here and from here you can change this to whatever you want but ideally you wanted something under 30 minutes because the goal is to simply allow them to make any edits to a grammatical error or something that they did in the very beginning so we'll leave it at five and then we'll save that for the options and then i'll show you what this looks like so i'll go to the blog and create a comment once your reader creates a comment they'll now have an area where they can click to edit and then there's a countdown timer to tell them how long they have in order to edit this then they can go in and edit the item and then they can save it or delete it all together if they decide that they don't want to leave a comment so then you can go through and then they've edited their comment and then if they've decided that they just want to delete it all together they can click delete and then there will be an actual pop-up from the website asking are you sure that you want to delete this you can say okay and then that's been removed and then if you want to allow them to communicate with you in a different way then one of the best ways to do that is by installing something like wp forms wp forms is a super easy drag and drop form builder that you can add to your website with this you can create a simple contact us form on your website to allow users to communicate with you or with wp forms you can also do things like make a completely automated back office workflow for your business you can also do things like surveys and so much more to get started just head over to wpforms.com forward slash wpbeginner so you can get the best discount on wp forms and thanks for watching

Original Description

Have you wanted to edit a comment you just left on a site? Maybe for correcting a spelling or grammar error or an unfinished comment? It happens to many people and some site owners want to give the option to edit the comments at least for a short time. In this video, we'll show you how to allow users to easily edit their comments in WordPress for a short time. This video brought to you by WPForms, the most beginner friendly WordPress form plugin, take a look at their site here: ================================= https://wpforms.com/wpbeginner ================================= For our discount visit: https://WPForms.com/wpbeginner For this tutorial we will be using the Simple Comment Editing plugin found below: http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-comment-editing/ Once you install and activate the plugin, you can go under Settings, Simple Comment Editing to customize the settings. The setting that is offered by default would be how long users have to edit or delete their comments and for this, we would recommend a value of 30 or less. With that set up, when users add a comment there will be a link beneath it to edit their comment with options to change or delete their comment.
