Hey, Alexa, did you violate Amazon's own copyright policies? In an interesting lawsuit filed in Los Angeles state court, a former Amazon VP claims that she was pressured not to report instances where Amazon violated its own copyright policies in the arms race to be able to train the best LLM. The five words that she gave for the justification for violating their own copyright policy: "Everyone else is doing it." The lawsuit still has to work its way through the courts, but I think it is an interesting sign that companies even as large as Amazon are feeling the burden of being able to keep up…
