Okay, so we are in VS Code and we've just created a new folder. Since this is the first time that anyone without a technical background can build an app or a website or any piece of software, um it's really cool that we're starting to offer in these natural language first and no code abilities within such an unknown developer tool. Okay, so the first thing that we're going to do is just initialize our repository. So, I know there's a lot of intimidation around this. Um, thinking about >> it's a scary button for many devices. [laughter] >> It is. It is. >> Um, but we've made it really easy on the VS Code team to just do this. Um, we've named this folder Cozy Kitchen 1 and our repo is now named Cozy Kitchen One. >> Okay. [snorts] >> So, just with one click, we've created that repo. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, so the other area of the UI that I really like is this agents panel. M >> um and this is where we'll dump our thoughts and ideas. >> Is this like chat GPT or what is it like >> a little bit except chat GPT can't really um code for you within your actual code editor. >> Got it. >> Um they have other products for that that we also support within VS Code. But >> this is VS Code the tool for real developers. >> Exactly. >> Exactly. >> Got it. [laughter] Um, so with this agent, it's going to just translate our prompts in natural language into actual code changes. In the agents panel, um, there is the option to select between different types of agents. Got it. >> As well as different models. And we support, >> look at the selection there. >> Yeah. So we support a ton of different models.

Welcome back to the Cozy AI Kitchen, where we cook up delightful creations with AI, design, and developer tools. Today, John Maeda welcomes Elijah King, Product Designer on the VS Code team, to show how anyone — yes, even non‑developers — can build fully functional apps using natural language, AI agents, and VS Code.
In this episode, Elijah transforms from designer to design engineer, guiding us through the creation of a no‑code iOS chatbot app powered by VS Code’s new multi‑agent background workflow and model switching — all with just prompts. You’ll see how fast and intuitive app development becomes when AI handles the heavy lifting and you focus on ideas.
Whether you're a designer curious about coding, a developer exploring agent‑powered workflows, or a creator dreaming up your next app — this episode shows how tools are making software creation more accessible than ever.
🍳 Let’s get cooking.
