About this lesson

Nobody plans to end up in insurance. Danilo Raponi definitely didn't. He grew up in Cassino, Italy — halfway between Rome and Naples. Studied political science and international economics in Rome. Then, instead of starting work, enrolled in a PhD in Modern History at the University of Cambridge. His entry into insurance? A friend's offhand line: "Reinsurance is like investment banking, but with nicer people." He joined Swiss Re in Zurich without knowing anything about it. Five years later, he stepped back out, did some consulting, completed an MBA at Bocconi School of Management in Milan, then landed at Munich Re doing structured reinsurance and life capital management. When the InsurTech wave built, Generali called and asked him to build their innovation function from scratch. That was years ago. He's still there. In Episode 178, Danilo Raponi, Group Head of Innovation at Generali, joins James live at InsurTech Insights London 2026. 📺 Full Episode → https://www.youtube.com/@theinsurtechgeekpodcast 🎧 Listen on Spotify → https://open.spotify.com/show/3T1RB0xtc7OPP5BgOm8f9P 🌐 insurtechgeek.com → https://insurtechgeek.com/ #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #InsurTech #InsurTechGeek #Insurance #FutureOfWork #InsuranceTechnology #Podcast #ITG
